"Take off the mask. You don't need it"
"What do you think you'll see?"
"The face of my son.."
+DeadShot1307 Don't... the feels. The pain. The anger.
+TenesAsylum that turns good men...cruel.
JOHN CENNNNAAAA!!!!
+Emmet Animation the supreme leader is wise
+louis chow That's what Snoke wants you to believe, but it's not true. My son is alive.
For the majority of this scene, Kylo Ren's face had blue light on one side, and red light on the other.
Then, as the scene went on, the red light slowly took over the rest of his face.
That's when he stabbed his father, Han Solo.
Beautiful directing.
+ChrisIsONLINE Wat? I'm just rewatching the scene, there is no blue light anywhere. All the way through it's only red.
+borek92 You're not watching the right scene then, because half of his face has blue light cast on it, the other red. And then the sun goes out, and the red overtakes the blue, and Ben makes his decision.
You think he was contemplating actually going with Han, I've wondered that
+Alex Vicaire I think he really was. In his lines: "I'm being torn apart. I know what I must do, but I don't know if I have the strength to do it" the emotion was real, man.
+Rosiotti, King of the Wild Frontier Yhea it sure was, would've been cool to see if the resistance would have brought him in as an ally with open arms or if he'd be a war prisoner of sorts and just resort back to the dark side, would like take him back and train him in the ways of the Jedi
Has me in tears again. God, this was so well done. I feel like no one noticed but at the start they had both the blue light coming down on half of their face and red light coming down on the other side. Then, the blue light disappears and their whole face is red and it happens. It's as if he really is considering the light path, but then the darkness fully takes over and he loses all the goodness. I wonder if he'll redeem himself like Vader did.
+Ellie Louise after that it will be hard for me to see a redeem by kylo. he just killed his father, he chose the dark side... god bless, i cried during this scene :(
+Cronista Let's Plays I cried too, he was my favorite character, I can't imagine Star Wars without Han
+Ellie Louise I have never felt so tense during a scene, and i knew waht was coming thanks to facebook :/
+Ellie Louise I fully expect a redemption he will be a Jedi along with Rey and hopefully Finn by the end of episode 8 or 9
This was my favorite part of the movie! Honestly, I think the way Kylo Ren was portrayed was how Anakin Skywalker SHOULD have been portrayed in the prequels- a conflicted young man struggling with the light and darkness inside of him.
Spoiler
When Han died, I did feel pretty sad, but I knew it would happen because of assholes on the Internet. But when Chewy screamed, man I felt emotionally sick.
+Katahn Hardy A few months ago there was alleged script on the Internet. I accidentally read comment about it and some prick said that Han dies. I did the same thing and on the 18th of December evening I read comment of some fucking bitch who said that Han dies. 1 day later, when I was wathcing the movie I completely forgot about it. I didn't know what's coming when Han said to his son to take off the mask. When Ben pierced him I literally started crying ;O. Some things will never be the same.
+yaqbec23 you're lucky you had such a short memory. I read it on 4chan as well but I was hoping it was just a troll. I completely forgot about it and for one split second when Kylo Ren gives han the Saber I actually imagined them going back to the Falcon and Ben helping them against the rebel in the next few movies... And then the light went out.
katphisH I agree, I don't know why I forgot about this, but even though I felt a little anger, when Ben killed Solo. Anger about the spoilers, I started crying for 5 minutes :c.
+Katahn Hardy That was me I left a Han spoiler on Yahoo and Yahoo Answers. Gotcha sucka! I bet I will get you for Episode 8!
+UK8864 You're so cool. I want to be just like you.
SPOILER!
Darth Vader was a complete villain, he was already fully consumed in the dark side. Kylo Ren fell to the dark but he proved to still have light that he showed by not being able to kill Han at first. It shocked me when Han yelled "Ben!" He even said "I know what I have to do but I don't know if I have the strength to do it... Will you help me" Han sacrificed himself to give Ben great guilt that maybe he will reconsider his path. It was just dead silent of father confronting son, Han held Kylo's lightsaber while it was in Kylo's hand toward himself, more silence then Kylo's lightsaber breaks the silence very loudly (scaring everyone and got me very close to tears). Kylo pulls the blade out of Han and Han just puts his hand on Ben's face, that really got me, I honestly cried.
Kylo was still being conflicted while Darth Vader was only conflicted at the end of Return of the Jedi.
+Tom “TeraByte13” Barnes It took me 5 minutes to let go of my head and a huge waterfall of tears started pouring from my face.
Oh yea, that scene was truly heartbreaking, I tried holding tears in (and I'm pretty good at that) but I just couldn't. This is by far the best movie I have ever seen, I can't believe it when I say this but it's better than Empire Strikes Back! It's that good, never a dull moment, it was amazing.
Most of all I feel very bad for Chewie, that was his best friend.
Tom Barnes
Whenever it cut to a scene with Chewie after the fact, you can't help but well up. This is honestly the most devastating movie death I've seen in quite some time. The only one I can think of that comes close is *SPOILERS* Wash from Serenity. *END OF SPOILERS* There's probably more but it's still a little hard to concentrate knowing that Han is gone and never coming back...
I honestly cried during this scene. Han was a great man. He will always be remembered.
Yea great at getting us into trouble...
rip in rip
+$alty$queaker rest in spaghetti, never forgetti.
Oh your fine
I never really liked him
1:58 Such an amazing scene.
*SPOILER ALRT*
This really showed what kind of person Han had become. You always saw him as this somewhat nonchalant character that apparently didn't care too much about other people. Very self absorbed. But at this moment, when his OWN SON kills him, he forgives him, takes one last look at him, and then falls down the pit. It almost had me in tears when I saw this. It truly shows that he loved him, despite him turning to the dark side. If there was any one way for him to go, this was it.
Gehab get out of the comments section of every video I watch ;(
RidentGaming Scuz me for leavin comments bruh B-)
+Gehab Say you're sorry :(( Or I'll cri
#gebicep
Gehab And dont forget his last tought was that he would never see Leia again.
"I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of fanboys voices suddenly cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced."
😂😂that was fucking perfect
yes I know
+Tom Keegan Grant From a certain point of view.
+Tom Keegan Grant and FANGIRLS. Don't forget about us, *OUR PAIN WAS REAL TOO.*
I lost my childhood hero!
Dear Ben,
You're fucking it up.
Sincerely,
Grandad
+Jordan Bonacci Grandad killed a bunch of kids so he can't judge
+Mordekai Quill He killed...younglins :V
princejanuszeal
"I saw a security hologram of him... killing younglings" *Stifles laughter*
hahaha Obi wan covers his mouth to avoid laughing at camera xD
Can't Anakin Skywalker's Force Ghost talk to him or some shit? Or could only Luke see all those old fucks?
Kylo: We're not done here.
Rey: (through tears) you're a monster.
Kylo: It's just us now (beats side blaster wound)
No more Han Solo to save you.
+Noah Daglio He said it like Han saved them from him before, but I can"t remember anything like that.
+szabok1999 Han and Finn rescued Rey from the base
+Darth Vader I think she kind of rescued herself.
+Andrea Claire Maybe Kylo didn't know that. Even Galactic Dictators get things wrong sometimes. xD
Sorry to be that guy but, he actually says "Han solo can't save you anymore".
Anyone who actually paid attention and listened to the dialogue through the whole movie will understand Kylo Ren. He's been brainwashed by Snoke. His moral compass is inverted. He firmly believes that the light side is evil and the dark side is good. There is still some good in him, but he has misidentified it as evil, which gives rise to his private moral dilemma and the resulting emotional struggle.
Anyone who actually paid attention and watched what happened through the whole movie will understand why Rey was able to beat him. Chewie's bowcaster is a very powerful weapon. The shots it fires hit with enough force to send most people flying backwards as it simultaneously burns a hole in them. Han loved its power so much that he asked to borrow it in the middle of a fight even though he was holding his trusty DL-44 heavy blaster pistol at the time, which is not a weak weapon. The bowcaster, the king of all personal ranged weapons in terms of stopping power...that is the weapon Kylo Ren got shot with in the gut. RIGHT BEFORE his big fight with Finn and Rey. And he still kicked Finn's ass. With a bowcaster bolt lodged in his kidney. If he's at full strength the next time Rey faces him, she'll probably continue the tradition of the main Jedi character losing their right hand to a red lightsaber in the second movie of the trilogy.
Amen to this!
People keep forgetting that Chewie's bowcaster is a seriously OP cross between a blaster, a traditional gun and a tiny grenade launcher.
The only reason Kylo is not spilling his guts all over the ground is probably because of the pressure from that belt around his waist.
Also if we're taking the novelization into account, it explains that killing Han nearly destroyed Ben. Instead of thinking it would make him stronger, he felt weaker as the shock of killing his own father was almost too much for him to comprehend.
+OrangeKyle91 Agreed you are right about Kylo Ren and Chewies blaster. It is oped. I would like to see if Rey does get her hand cut off. Only time will tell but but Kylo Ren sure is tough
+kookygremlin24 when kylo was fighting Rey he was hitting the blaster rifle shot wound to get the darkness away and wouldn't control him fully
Nah. On the contrary, Kylo was knocked out after their confrontation and Ray escaped, looking completely unaffected...
I'm feeling like a star...
you can't stop my shine...
I'm loving Cloud City...
my head's in the sky...
I'm solo...I'm Han Solo...I'm Han Solo...I'm Han Solo...
pls mate
WORST. GAME. EVER.
Solo-o
+Bronzation Jon tron?
OH MY GOD NO
Han should have said "I love you son" and Ben should have said "I know".
+Mr Brunswic (brunswic51) He didn't need to say it. The silence of the both of them when it happened was more than enough to convey the emotion of the scene.
+NagandEmerald I agree. If he said that, it would've taken me out of the whole movie
Taking dialogue from previous movies doesn't make it cleaver.
ohhh that WOULD have been good. lol
+Mr Brunswic (brunswic51) No! No he shouldn't have! I would have lost it! :'-(
Rey's "NOOOOOO!" scream really hit me hard. Although, it was a nice mirror image of Obi-Wan's no scream from Episode I and Luke's no scream from Episode IV. Still though, it was a tough watch.
Episode VII's death was the most shocking of the 3
Eric Graham Very true
The scene was a very horrific part in the entire saga, JJ pulled off a scene that was so emotional
and Frodo's in the first movie when Gandalf dies amirite????
No, wait...
...
Wrong fandom oops *flies away on an eagle*
+Saoirse Kavanagh And from every other movie where someone dies.
"Thank you" - Kylo.
Han's death maybe the best scene in the movie !
Genius. The death of Han means that however much Ben redeems himself over the course of these films, a part of us is going to want revenge for Han. How many films can say they afflict us in this way?
+EpicAmbient Very few, but think about it like this. Kylo chose the Dark Side out of selfishness and a pure desire for power. He embodied many Sith before him, and had everything he could've wanted: friends, family, and love. However, Kylo chose to follow the dark teachings of the Sith. He can't be redeemed for his actions, and killing his father sealed his fate. Kylo only has one path now; he needs to live and die as the Sith before him: irredeemable, unsaved, and unloved by all but his family.
+EpicAmbient The only way he will redeem himself is to die in sacrifice to save someone maybe his mom, so yeah.
joejoejoe532 Perhaps. Who knows, we'll just have to wait for JJ to open the mystery box.
That is unquestionably the worst aspect about Star Wars. It's not Jar Jar. It's not Jake Lloyd. It's not the politics. It's not the blue screen. It's the wait for the next film :(
"As long as you see the Sun, we still have a chance."
Then while Han is trying to reach to his son... Rey and Finn, in a methaforical way representing us, the audience, turn around and see the sun fading away.... End of all hope for Han. :(
I can't decide if this entire score is very underwhelming, or so brilliantly subtle that it fits utterly flawlessly into the film. Tracks like this make me think the latter. Man was this a beautifully acted, shot, and composed scene. Perhaps the most emotional in the trilogy even...
+masamune2984 I think that some people were disappointed in no great big themes in this scene, but I think that the way Williams did this reminds me of Obi-Wan's speech to Anakin while he burns in Revenge of the Sith. At first it sounds generic because there's no memorable tune, but you listen closer and you realize he's not just doing simple chords and repeating them over and over like some composers. You can actually really easily follow the emotion of the scene, how it rises and falls, becomes optimistic or ambiguous and then suddenly tragic. The way it gets louder and then very soft in mere seconds. Different colors come in and out. For me music like this and Immolation Scene are pure feeling.
Actually when you think about it, Revenge of the Sith had a lot of subtle but powerful music. Only Battle of the Heroes stood out at first, and even then it's not a theme you could really hum like Imperial March. But then we got to know the movie and the music after watching and listening to it a lot and it became beautiful in many people's eyes. I believe Williams once again brought his A-game for this score and once people start to know exactly how the scenes go with the music, they will love it.
I noticed that the giant hole Han falls down after Kylo kills him looks like the one Vader threw the Emperor down in ROTJ. To me it symbolizes that Ben's choice is the opposite of Anakin's in those two scenes. Anakin renounced the dark and accepted the light, Ben renounced the light and accepted the dark.
Santi B My theory is that Kylo is a double agent. Getting close to destroy Snoke from within. I also think he's Rey's father. He'd have to leave her behind if he was going to get in with Snoke.
Kylo Ren: "Han Solo."
Han: "No, I'm your father..."
Kylo Ren: "OMG! Did you just quote Lord Vader?!" *smiles uncontrollably*
That could have saved his life XD
The sequence after 1:28 is absolutely beautiful. I don't care if it's not from the original trilogy, but it and Rey's theme are my 2 favorite sound tracks
I loved Kylo Ren as the villain. He's more of a character than Maul, Dooku and Grievous combined. He has motivation, he has struggle. There's so much in him, which you can think about hours after watching the movie. It's great.
+KlaymenDel
He is way more of a character than Vader ever was, too. We have mythologized Vader, but what did we know about him, up until the end of Empire? The first real thing we learn about him-other than being a mustache-twirling bad guy-is that he is Luke's father.
*spoilers*
Kylo has a huge internal struggle that we know all about! We know what lengths he will go to for the dark side. We've watched him slaughter a village of innocents, we've watched him worship the burned helmet of an icon of evil. Yet, we've seen that he is just a petulant, frustrated child. He has weaknesses. He is torn.
He is absolutely great.
Kylo is the only character who I'm excited to see develop in this franchise. Rey is too perfect, talented, and confident; We're not left with much excitement to see how she will grow (At this rate I expect her to teach Luke, since she is so good at everything).
Finn had no trouble adapting from his military life, talks casually and makes jokes, and generally seems to be getting along fine from the moment he saved Poe. Not even a moment of struggling to adapt to non-military life. Maybe he'll learn to be a pilot or something, maybe him and Chewie will fly around in the Falcon... But I'm not too curious about him, he'll be just fine.
But Kylo Ren... He's screwed up. He could do anything to anyone. He's scary.
+inthefade I just wish they hadnt thrown the whole "He's Hans son" at us as soon as they had. Liek maybe hint Han and Leia had a son that they hadn't seen, then on the bridge bit when Han shouts Ben, we're all like "who the fuc.. no... no..." then Kylo turns like " *monologue* " and ends it in that bit where he's like "I've been waiting for this moment father", then the talk and the lightsaber handover, I feel it wouldnt be as built up, but i think it would have more of an impact, like this son that they can barely bring themselves to say his name because of the pain, this son who Han finally see'sand looks into his eyes trying so desperately to help his lost son, and Kylos eyes filling with tears, then replaced with cold anger as he ignites his saber. It would feel sudden but as soon as we found out Kylo was his son i was like oh.. hmm interesting, and the moment Han stepped onto the bridge im sure a lot of people knew that was it for him.
+KlaymenDel He's a good villain because he did something that made you HATE him.
+inthefade Just to add, Vader was the face of evil for most of the original trilogy. We never needed to know more about him because it really wouldnt have furthered the plot and would have just weakened him as the ultimate evil bad ass. At least until ep. VI because that movie focused on Luke trying to save his father and it works within the context of the story. Thats what made Vader so cool. You know nothing about him other than he was Obi Wan's apprentice and Luke's father. Made most people wonder if there really was a man behind the mask or was he more machine than man. Kylo is refreshing because we dont get a true villain off that bat like Vader. Instead we see him take those final steps into the darkness and become a villain. God I love this movie.
+TenesAsylum yeah, i tought the same thing. Snoke talking about Han being Kylo father was surprising, but after the bridge scene i think that it probably be much more amazing if they doesn't told about it and we discover only on the bridge with Han talking with Kylo.
I love the reaction of chewie, he's pretty badass
+SuperCosmico Wookies should be one of the most fierce warriors in the Star Wars universe.
+SuperCosmico How was his reaction badass? It was sad and 1 of many components of this scene that made it sad
For me, this is #3 in the most emotional Star Wars tracks. #2 is the "You were my brother, Anakin!" speech, and #1 is when Luke shouts "NEVER!" when Vader threatens to turn Leia to the dark side.
With this one, though, it's hard to explain.
We've only known Kylo Ren for two hours yet I sympathize. I feel for him. I see how he's "torn apart," only to be followed by Han's death, which hit me hard.
But by far the thing that got me was Chewy's scream when Han died. Something inside me died when that happened.
Yet I still didn't want Kylo to die.
This is gonna sound really cringey, but I was being Torn Apart while this happened. I couldn't pick a side because I felt so sorry for Chewy but you can see the pain and regret on Kylo's face after he kills his father. Not to mention Rey, who lost the first and only father figure/mentor in her life. I didn't know who to root for.
Probably the best thing about this movie, for me anyway.
Excellent description. I felt similarly.
"Im being torn apart... I want to be free of this pain... And i know what i have to do, but i don't know if i have the strength to do it. Will you help me?"
"Yes, anything."
this scene was amazing, so well done. I knew this was going to happen, dont really know why but I had felt that this movie was going to have this moment, I cried, and hearing this music again makes me cry again. I knew this was going to happen, but still hurts
Ben knew. Deep in his heart, he knew, that if he went back to the light, he would never be free of his pain. The dark side would always be there to tempt him, to tear him apart from within. No, the only way he could ever be free was to cross the point of no return. To do something that would bar him from the light forever. He knew what he had to do, but he didn't know if he had the strength to do it.
Fortunately for him, his father was there to help.
I just realized Kylo Ren has a dual/split personality. "He was weak and foolish like his father, so I destroyed him!" and then cracks and confesses to his heartbroken father, Han, that he's being tormented/torn apart. The light in him shows but quickly vanishes as the dark side fully takes control of him, for good. He pledges his allegiance to the dark side & Snoke. It's pretty heart breaking.
After "the thing" happened, I mentally channeled Chancellor Palpatine's "kill him, kill him now" into Chewie.
I can FEEL your anger
dew it
I had this moment spoiled for me (incredible, seeing as I saw it the day it came out, just a few hours after the first showing - next year I will hole myself in my room until I see it) but the beauty of the film was that I was so involved and engrossed that I COMPLETELY FORGOT the spoiler, even in the moment right before it happened.
I was just as heartbroken. I felt they gave Han all the gravity he deserved. I can't express how much I love this franchise, and instead of saying "I can't wait until the next one", I will say I CAN wait - because the anticipation and speculation and years and years of new content is honestly half the fun.
+Kailyn Rodgers Oh, they gave him the gravity all right.
i c what u did there
I can't wait for this movie to come out on DVD just so that I can watch this scene over and over again. It was beautifully done.
That pretty much seals it.
Kylo Ren is MORE evil than Darth Vader.
For all the terrible things he did, Vader had one piece of Anakin Skywalker that he always carried with him. His love for his family. When he attacked Padme he was in a state of blind rage. When he fought Luke he either didn't know who he was or was trying to bring him over to the Dark Side. He didn't even know Leia was his daughter until the end.
But THIS fucker... Kylo Ren... He kills his father in cold blood and destroys any semblance of Ben Solo left in him.
FUCK YOU, KYLO REN!!!
Agreed! I was feeling sorry for him up until then, and wanted to like him. Now, I want to see him burn. He is tragic, but also despicable. Well done, Abrams and Driver!
+MrImastinker But the dark side!
But um....Vader slaughtered dozens of children...
+masamune2984 You are right but when Darth and Kylo oversaw the deaths of planets we/he didn't know those people so it's less personal.
+MrImastinker He isn't evil per say, he's lost. He doesn't know what to do as he is scared of not being as good as Vader but also scared of going back to the light side. He has basically lost the plot, lost in his own head. Don't get me wrong, what he did was horrid and murdering all the jedi's was just outright terrible, but he's sick and has been guided by a corrupting force.
"your son is gone"
"He was weak and foolish like his father. So I destroyed him."
That's what snoke wants you to believe. But it's not true. My son is alive.
+alan morton no the supreme leader is wise
"Snoke is using you for your power, when he gets what he wants he'll crush you. You know it's true."
+I'm LordOfTheChin it's too late
Goddamn it, I had his death spoiled before seeing the movie... but damn it was a really well done scene, the sunlight and the dark effects, the dialogue, the struggle inside Kylo Ren which the actor played perfectly. Everyone may hate him now, but Kylo Ren is a very interesting and intriguing character, and the actor was very well chosen. A lot of people are disappointed because Han death was "lame", they wanted him to die as a hero but they fail to see that he, indeed, died as a hero, trying to turn his son back to the light side, but he's only mistake is that he tried to do this, recklessly, alone and without Luke like Leia advised him to.
Juan Cena You probably don't consider him "hardly his own character" because he's a character in constant development, in struggle between the dark and the light.
Ben Solo shows his internal conflict very well, he's a heartless monster with the mask, but a confused and fearful man without it
God how I loved this movie! And the music is fantastic! I love how both the movie and the music itself pay homages to both the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy as well! I love every character and every piece of music from this movie and from the other six movies as well. Star Wars is the best collection of Movies ever in my opinion!
I think the reason I like Kylo Ren so much is because he nailed what Anakin was to an extent. Conflicted and confused. Given of course with different motives, but I hated HATED Kylo when he slew Han. I love that I feel that way about a character. Very good writing, its a love hate relationship to me.
RIP Kenny Baker aka R2 D2

*”Ben used to clutch the dice when he was a boy, dreaming about the day he would become as good of a pilot as his father...”*
Reading the comments, I can say it now...
Star Wars : The Force Awakens was a good film.
Maybe not the best, but a welcome one...
J. J. Abrams was a good director.
I can't wait to see Episode 9...
Moreover, Kylo Ren has been well developed in episode 8.
this comment hasnt aged well lmao
Best Part 1:28!
So cool
I feel so sorry for Adam Driver... Now every day people are going to recognize him on the street as "the man who killed Han Solo"...
:(
Adam driver did really well why would people think that
+finn teh stormtrooper So that was another instance where the actors weren't told what was really going to happen???
Every time it reaches 1:28 I see it replay vividly in my head over and over... and I just can't get Han's face out of my head when Ben does it :(
Kylo Ren was an incredible character. He had layers, he was complex. Dooku, Maul and Greivous were hardly characters at all. Ren was.
Ren IS
+Descendant of Kraff You mean like onion?
+borek92 "Ogres have layers"
+Recon is that so?
+Descendant of Kraff Exactly! I'm glad someone gets it.
Glad they let Chewie have his rampage moment. So often they don let the best friend go revenge crazy in movies.
I cried when Han held Ben’s face the same way in Rise Of Skywalker
If this score doesn't get nominated for an Oscar, imma flip.
How this should've been done:
Throughout the move, there should only have been hints but never direct statements about how Han is Kylo's father. They should have just had Snoke say "The droid is in the hands of Han Solo." When Leia said to bring their son home they never should have mentioned Snoke. Kept it all quiet and secret. Up until the bridge scene. Han walks out and cries "Ben!" And he looks and then he asks him to take his mask off. "What do you think you'll see?" "The face of my son." And that's how they should have revealed it. They did it way too early in the movie. This is the one and only change I would make to the movie.
Maybe im sick in the head but i feel bad for Kylo. Hes not like other villains in Star Wars. He has this conflict within him that makes him human.
I think he will continue being torn apart, even after what he did. Vader can kill younglings, still have good tucked away inside. Leia felt it. When Leia feels it, its confirmed there is good.
1:30 to 2:00 is the best part!
Mr. Musk i love this part
1:53 really gives me the feels!!! :'( The music gets so loud and dramatic just before *IT* happens, Then just like the audience, the music goes silent.
"I'm being torn apart..."
"I wanna be free of this pain..."
"...I know what I have to do... but I dont know if I have the strength to do it."
"Will you help me?"
"Thank You."
As soon as Han stepped on that bridge I knew he was gone.
Yeah. Throughout the whole scene I was like "Han you idiot!!". I had my suspicions confirmed when Han died.
Ya know he actually wanted to change the script to Han falling of the bridge instead of Ren killing him
he ignited the saber
" I want to be free of this pain "
Double meaning
Torn Apart and Anakin's Betrayal is one of John William's best pieces in my opinion. Plus they sound kinda similar
I love how in this scene, just before... THE BIG THING happens, the Starkiller finishes absorbing the sun and all the light leaves the room. It was kinda a visual metaphor of what was about to happen, and the room was left with just the red light on the right side of Kylo's face. Just one of many examples of visual storytelling in this movie and it shows how much it adds :)
John Williams is a f*cking genius.
+Alexander Samuel PRAYING HE WINS THE OSCAR !!
Some of it sounds close to Anakins and Darth Vader’s themes. Nice touch by John Williams
He's still got it.
The moment in itself killed me, but Chewie's reaction made me cry like a little kid.
1:34
A variation of the ending of "I'm So Sorry" from "Revenge of the Sith"
It's so dense.
Every Single Image has so many Things doing on.
Conrado Javier Shut up. 😂 XD
Bartholomew Thundercat III I'm not Rick Berman, What's with The Ricks?
"It's just us now. Han Solo can't save you"
*Pounds on wound*
It was refreshing to see a dark side user actually use things like pain or rage to fuel their actions
*Watching the movie as Ben hands the saber to Han*
My thoughts: "Okay, this is cool. Maybe that spoiler was just internet trolling."
1:14 *Music changes*
"...No...No...No..!!"
When Rey caught the lightsaber, I kept saying through my tears, "Do it for Han.."
Love how every song has quotes from the movie in the comments.
I love Lucas but thank God they didn`t let him do the new trilogy. He wanted to go back and tell the story of the New Republic and reborn Jedi Order. We would get more of politics, talking, sitting and walking...Abrams did a great job it feels like he understands the SW universe more than its creator :-(

Thats actually really true, as George originally written the story for Force Awakens, but when he shown it to Disney they scrapped it as that is "exactly" what it was full of, literally, and the main characters were 13 year olds so at that point he sold SW to them and they got JJ. You can find multiple articles on it.
+John Langerhan I wouldn't be looking forward to teens being main characters either, but honestly the prequels had a much stronger story behind them than this one did. Don't get me wrong, it was very enjoyable, but it has obvious flaws too, let's not kid ourselves. Lucas would have made Star Wars for the sake of Star Wars, Disney and Abrams made Star Wars for the sake of the fans.
Prequels: great ideas, poor execution
TFA: poor ideas, great execution
+Ovidiu Diumea Yes the drooling politics was a great idea, and that's among *many* other things.
+RangaRiis There were a lot of good ideas in the prequels ruined by poor directing and / or writing. In the right hands that story could have been amazing.
Grobee But a bad idea can be simply unredeemable. Watch Catwomen.
That's not to say somethings could have been done better. Like the drooling politics, the short sighted fan service they relied on (oops, that's stupid idea), and the Jedi's point of view skewed fans' views and raised so many questions.
Only seen this movie once but this scene! Music only brings it back. The dialogue & acting were great but the light and dark metaphors! The play of blue and red on Adam Driver's face! Anyone else notice that when the sun was drained and ready to charge, the "son" was also drained (his face went all red/evil and Kylo then became a weapon too?
I noticed it
This was the most heartbreaking scene in movie history for me. I never cried so much.
I sense a great disturbance in the force
As if millions of viewers feared for a smugglers life, then suddenly crude out in sadness
For his fate, had been sealed
R.I.P. Han Solo
You were the best smuggler I knew
Cried*
"Dad.."
"I Know."
:'( that moment of pain and sadness
One of the few times I audibly shouted “No” during a movie in theaters, followed by tears. Han was such a good character to lose
Seeing Chewie sit on the falcon by himself before him and Rey find Luke is what got me.
BEN!
Knowing that he is gone in these movies is just terrible to think about. That particular scene, even though I saw it from a mile away, made me feel as if a lightsaber actually plunged right in to me. 1:18
Anyone else feeling a Revenge of the sith vibe from this track?
Man! For 1 second I thought he was going to the light and I felt like a little kid cheering but then it was so obvious, plus the music... so sad. Mr. Williams you are a Genius.
1:29 sounds like the final part of ''Anakin's Dark Deeds''. Anyone agrees?
that suspenseful violin part gives me goosebumps every time and puts myself in denial that Hans Solo was just pierced with a lightsaber.
the moment when this track appears always makes me cry. han was amazing this film, and this moment was so well done. people say this film is the same as episode 4... well yeah, if you only want to see the very superficial things of a movie, the 80% of the movies are the same thing. just watch those ''star wars is harry potter'' memes. this film is being worse rated than it deserves just because its being compared too much (which i can understand, coming from a saga and also having that prequels) but i encourage you to watch the film without comparing it.. of course it has similar elements. or the way of thelling the story may be similar, but its not episode 4. i cant be happier about this movie, honestly
+Cronista Let's Plays and i LOVE all the old star wars films, really. but i think i have an open mind and can appreciate whats good and whats bad, and that doesnt make me love that old films less. think a lot of people should learn this xD
Cronista Let's Plays Yeah if you guys want a new Star Wars movie today GO watch ROGUE ONE!
This scene in the film really needs to seen twice in the theatres. The first is the shock. The second time, you appreciate what is going on. Like the idea that Kylo saw it as Han helping him to move do the dark side.
kylo ren was what anakin skywalker should have been in the prequels.
Not the loudest, but it is the MOST powerful song in this movie. This scene had me speechless. It was hard to see Han Solo die, but understandable. It was fantastically done as well. A great movie and a great scene. JJ Abrams is the man.
This scene was perfectly executed.
This is so insanely amazing; I love John Williams, he is honestly one of the best composers. I love the way it's sad, hopeful and a little bit dark in the beginning, and then you can actually tell when that one spoiler happens, and the dark side creeps in, with just a tiny bit of sorrow before it's completely gone. 😍😍😍
2:48 the best appearance music
Right on... The whole soundtrack.... I love it
1:40 RIP Han Solo
this moment is again one of those that will be debated years after the trilogy and for me was one of those key cinema moments. To me it was necessary to begin kylos journey to the light as I suspect it was partly the cause when turning to the dark and Han deep down knew that had to happen to bring him back (in the future I hope). Chewies crossbow was showcased so many times so we knew what it could do to a storm trooper yet when used on kylo he took it, stood firm and carried on. The way that final duel played out I wish it was the final duel in revenge of the sith. Adam driver showed how the dark side should be!
It was memorable but so saddening
My dad and I cried when Han died
I will never forget what it was like on opening night when I first saw this movie. Beautiful!
I cried. I can't tell you why, though......
I can't listen to this...I can't...THAT scene killed what was left of my inner child
kylo is now my fav, that scene was perfect. adam driver was perfect and his face after han fell made me turn from angry to sad because he looked like he did something he didn't want to do but had too. if he didnt feel heartbreak than he would have stopped chewies blast like he did poes. hes nothing like vader, vader killed kids and was more like a spoilt cunt but kylo seems torn and be really unsure of himself believing hes doing whats right. force awakens is everything I wanted and more
John Williams is the most legendary composer he writes and makes you feel emotions dead there right on the spot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Special Edition:
*Han takes out blaster. Shoots Kylo. Kylo dodges. Stabs Han*
J.J.: "No this is how it always was. There was a confusing smoke effect in the original but Han always shot first. Those who want Kylo to be a cold blooded murderer can just shut up."
1:28 to 1:58 all gasping in the theater, also fantastic music, thank you maestro Williams
Han: Take off that mask you don't need it
Kylo: what do you think you'll see if I do?
Han: the face of my son...
This movie was done so well. I cried at the theatre. I was completely blindsided and it was heartbreaking.
,,Kylo ren is dead, my son is alive..."
This was the scene where I recall my heart was beating like crazy.
It’s such a powerful moment and I commend J. J. Abrams for having the balls to kill of a character we all know and love in a meaningful way.
