My heartiest congratulations to you all in keeping this remarkable mechanical radio transmitter on the air! It’s a truly wonderful achievement and to see it all working is a real privilege. I have listened to the regular special Morse transmissions many times using the special SAQ receiver you sent me while I was Editor of Practical Wireless here in the UK (1989 to 2013). Due to my mobility problems i have unfortunately never been able to take up your invitations to visit the transmitter …..but thanks to your previous video programmes and this special Centenary Programme and RUclips….I’ve been able to enjoy watching the 100th anniversary celebrations. I wish you all…and SAQ…a happy 100th birthday celebration and I hope the unique transmitter can come on the air regularly for many years to come. Well done everyone! Dr Rob Mannion G3XFD, retired Editor of Practical Wireless magazine, Bournemouth, England.
Very nice to see that in operation after 100 years. Thanks for the video showing how much effort it took to communicate with the world. I miss the glory days of radio.
Llongyfarchiadau canmlwyddiant! (centenary congratulations!) from the former Marconi station 'Carnarvon', north Wales. Excellent video and received at a good -87.4dBm peak (~S7) here. Great to see so many live and subsequent viewers. Keep up the good work! 👏💐
Congratulations. 🎉 Great that you keep up the tradition and keep this equipment still working and show it to the world! I appreciate what you are doing! ❤
Congratulations on the SAQ Centennial! Copied the entire transmission from the initial long dashes while you were checking the governor system though final sign off. Solid copy with much static crashes and some interference from an FSK signal just below 17 kHz. Received on the shore of Little Narragansett Bay, Barn Island, Stonington CT. Signal strength about -90 dBm using a Wandell und Goltermann AT-611 RF selective level meter with a 400 Hz band pass, antenna a 20 foot stationary mobile mast vertical antenna in the bed of a Toyota Tacoma 4WD truck. I think one of the most impressive things about the Alexanderson alternator is its frequency stability! Absolutely no audible detectable chirp, and as indicated by your frequency counter, a only couple of Hz shift between key up and key down! 73 and ZUT de Chris AJ1G Stonington CT USA
Congratulations on the 100th anniversary from Saxony in the southeastern part of Germany! I've heard your signal well, I was in the field outside the city this morning. The equipment was a ferrite antenna with ~80mH, parallel to this a variable capacitor with 1nF and a fixed capacitor 470pF. I converted the signal to 6 MHz using a VLF converter and the shortwave receiver was a little BELKA-DX. I have a short video about it on my channel.
Great video. I received the signal in Munich, Germany using a PA0RDT miniwhip on the balcony and a SDRPlay RSPdx ! I like the way the keyclicks break into your microphone feed, especially outdoors near the antenna 🙂
@@dg0mg I was so excited by todays exercise that I ordered a Behringer 192kHz A/D sound interface so I can try to receive the next transmission as "audio" without an SDR.
Wonderful reenactment. What a fantastic facility and a monumental task maintaining such a historic site. The Antennas very much resemble what we once had in RCA Radio Central Rocky Point Long Island, of which now is completely gone. When it opened in 1921 on 10,000 acres of land, there were originally 12 450foot antenna towers that were 1500 feet apart. The first 6 were demolished in 1952, 5 more in 1961. The last of the original Antennas was demolished in Dec 1977. It's a shame that there is no trace of anything ever being there.
Congratulations on the 100th anniversary of such a wonderful piece of engineering. SAQ 17.2 Khz received today with Kenwood TS-570 and Datong vlf converter with 1 mtr whip aerial on my car in Hastings uk 73 G7HFS/PA3IKH
Parabéns a todos, é uma honra assistir algo desse tipo, belíssimo equipamento ainda em funcionamento após um século de construção, forte 73 a todos de PY1BA.
Absolutely fascinating. Who would have thought that there is so much mechanics and liquid (!) involved to get this behemoth running? Really impressive. Aren't there vacuum tubes involved?
Happy 100th! I normally get a good signal from SAQ, but today (Sun 1 Dec) I got almost nothing. A very weak signal on both my receivers and both antennas.
Congratulations and lovely hand-sent morse :-) Here is a recording I made using the Weston SDR near Bristol in UK See Description for the text I copied by ear from the transmission at ruclips.net/video/h4Do7jUyS7E/видео.html

München sind ~1000 km! Prima, dass es auch bei Dir geklappt hat. Ich bin etwas näher dran, war auch erfolgreich.

What a pity I didn't know this was happening but thanks for recording it.
What a wonderful piece of equipment.

Happy centennial! Alex would be proud.
Very interesting! I wish I had a receiver where I could listen to the transmission.

Weak signal into Vermont (NE USA) but could catch some words. Great live video and fantastic hand sent CW!
Thank you very much 😃
Beautifully done guys! 100 years -- so amazing. Congratulations!! PS Where can I learn more about the liquid resistors?

Would love to hear it some time but the odds of me hearing anything near that frequency are next to none.
