These tutorials are brilliant PJ. I recently turned off the abs assit and was really struggling but found this tutorial Brilliant and have become alot quicker in the corners. Keep up the good work 👏
I'm a newbie racing player but I started playing with all assists off, didn't even know what ABS meant until a few days ago. But this tutorial opened my eyes further on how deep this game is.
Loving these!!!! A video explaining how to reduce wear on each part of the engine (ICE, MGU-K, etc) Ik it has a description on the parts but it would be more helpful to see a race comparison on the do and dont's
Someone already explained to me the idea of thinking of grip as a points system, but the way you applied that to examples makes me feel a bit more confident in my understanding. Thank you! :)
Not only did turning this off make me realise how little a actually would brake in a straight line, by doing so (and braking in a straight line) i found my lines in and out if a corner are better plus the “slow in fast out” isn’t as bullshit as i thought it was, it will take some practice but definitely worth it as im a stickler for realism but can only manage stripping back so much assists at a time, thanks man 👍🏼
Happy to help 🙂 I'm not "esports good" (based ont he comments on my driving on the official channel), but I'm far beyond beginner, so I can bring you all up to my level a least 😄
Your videos have been SO helpful! It's my first time with wheel and pedals, so this has been incredible. Super informative and concise! One minor suggestion, I found the song a bit distracting. This, imo, is due to the kick being a bit loud in this particular song, so even though overall the volume was just right (such that it gives a nice backdrop without interfering with your voice) the kicks are louder than the rest of the song, making it standout, and those were around the same volume as your voice, making it a bit distracting. At least for me. Otherwise great stuff as usual! Keep them coming 😉
Audio is not my strong point, so thanks for this 👍🏻 So essentially, try something a little less punchy, or was it just the peaks in that particular track?
@@PJTierney Yeah, I less punchy could be a general way to put it. That particular track had some loud kicks so definitely a bit of an outlier. Nothing wrong with the track being upbeat but maybe lookout for when some sound in the track is going a bit louder than the rest and how that compares with your voice level. On another note, just tried your suggestions and managed to toggle break assists all the way off, so thank you!
Great videos! I've been wanting to turn off all assists for some years by now. Just got my hands on a better PC and restarted playing F1, your traction assist video helped a lot.. I will try experimenting with brakes soon.
Really enjoying your videos, thanks for sharing. If your looking for suggestions, maybe a guide to making good use of the radio and telling the team what tyres you want when you need to change them on the fly for weather, things like that?
That's a great guide, but i really could use some tips to play without ABS on a keyboard, i can't afford a controller so i can't "gently release" the brakes (in Trail-braking for example), it is full brake or no brake at all
Hmm, that's a real tricky one. I've not driven on a digital input since the PS2, so what I imagine you'd have to try is rapidly tapping the brake button to sort of simulate throttle modulation.
@@PJTierney thank you. So the problem is that my front tyre pressure's and I lock up too often in these 50 percent league races I'll have to focus more on my brakezones and not get to aggressive
@@PJTierney ah, I think that is best but all the pros they use 50% like trl limits and opmeer and Tonizza who is my favorite so like should I? I'm trying to be competitive, I got a podium in my last race but I had to manage tyres so much
I'm struggling with modulating the amount of force applied to the brake in corners that do not require a lot, am doing well in heavy braking zones though. (Controller FYI)
This one is tough because all I seem to do is lock up my front wheels. But good video as always. Question when I’m applying the brakes is there anything that I should be doing To prevent locking the brakes. I always get scared when I come to a corner that I won’t have applied enough break to make a turn.
Trust the downforce of the car. Brake hard at 100m, then let off the brakes and turn in. Pull the brake bias down to 50% and be careful not to turn too much while braking.
@@PJTierney thank you for the help you've given me. I'm gonna start a my team tonight. I'm turning off the raving line and i'm gonna attempt to turn off abs. I'm still trying to figure manual gears ant TC will have to wait for a little bit.
I play on an Xbox controller and the trigger vibrates when you're near the limit of grip. Next time you're on-track pay attention to how and where the controller vibrates when you brake, turn and accelerate. When you identify the thing that shakes when you're about to lock up, pay attention to it all the time.
Very helpful! I've had the game for going on 3 weeks now and i'm working all the assists off as I go through the My Team mode. I have the Braking assist setting completely off and tried turning off ABS yesterday...that was rough. Going to try the Trail Braking technique and adjust my linearity (currently at 20). Suggestion for another tutorial: How to limit wear on different engine components (ICE and MGU-H are what I struggle with the most)
Glad to hear you're getting used to the game 🙂 Component wear is an interesting one, I'll see if I can come up with something. I tend to do shorter races so I don't worry about it as much.
@@PJTierney I'm more referring to the wear throughout a season. For example, I'm on race 10/16 in my career and just had to install (and take a grid penalty) my 4th ICE and 3rd MGU-H. Is it normal to be going through components that quickly or am I abusing the car too much?
@@fluffyboy27 One thing to consider is that if you don't have all the R&D upgrades for durability, you're probably wearing the parts more than normal. If I have to take penalties, I tend to wait until I have a bad qualifying, then do the 2018 McLaren strategy of getting a 150 place grid penalty for a single race by swapping out everything 😄
I order a new part for the 6 components week one. Take the grid penalty. Use the 1st slot for practice then swap to the new parts for the quali and race . Year one in career is always a regulation change most likely to durability and aero so if you want to avoid gearbox and overheating just spend your R&D on yellow. But prepare yourself to spend more to adapt the parts.
@@WatsGood973 Dually noted! I started with a focus on Chasis and Aero since those were so low off the bat but have switched to primarily focus on Durability.
