      @Nicholas Mak 台灣國民黨,故鄉情+有大中華情結。國民黨內中,有部份將領,滔光養晦心態,也有反攻大陸之心。

    So if the Civic Party were more "flexible" and not so "Anglo-Centric" they would have avoided the fate of a total wipe-out? Labelling a political party that had been unreasonably persecuted by a brutal and ruthless regime a "tragedy" is called victim blaming. Their members practise and believe in the Common Law which is to this day is still the law of Hong Kong. Why then is that a "tragic" element contributing to their demise and not an injustice visited upon them by official thugs and bullies? Should some quotes about Thomas More decide the fate of Margaret Ng? If so, who is to blame, Ms Ng or a Communist Party that is so unforgiving, stupid, ignorant, illiterate, blinkered, and vengeful that they could not tolerate some mere words about a great historical figure in the Tudor era? Tenuously connecting the donation by 777 and Mr Wu's outburst directed at her to "explain" the "breakdown in relation between the Government and the Pan-Liberals" is just laughable. Do you think 777's supposed "injured pride" would have any bearing on the political trajectory dictated by the Communists? So if Mr Wu had behaved himself, everything would be sweetness and light between the Pan-Liberals and the authority? But what can you expect from someone who to this day still insists that the "original intention" of 777's proposed Extradition Laws was to give justice to the murdered girl's family because "777's background in social work imbued in her a deep sense of compassion?" This is a very dishonest man who is in fact working for the Communist while slapping them on the wrists every now and then just for show. As to advising people to just leave if they can't stand the situation and stay if they can bear it, I might remind Mr Tao that obstacles have already been put in their way of their leaving including access to their MPF; and very soon Hong Kong people would be deprived of the option of leaving. Stop using the "broad sweep of history" to justify the crimes of the Chinese Communist Party that had starved to death more people than the combined total in past history; that had brought Chinese civilization to the point of total collapse; that had killed 90 million of Chinese people; that had the only One-Child Policy in human history; that has now launching another world-first and only "Social Credit System" to exercise total monitoring and control of every aspect of our lives. See who are the real culprits and stop playing facts with mirrors and shadows.

      Do you not understand nuance and irony? The hosts are being sarcastic. It has always been their style. Don't be so literal. Good Grief.

      @@ninnolose7298 Don't you even dare to suggest that I don't understand "irony and nuance." But this is a different kettle of fish altogether. Whatever "style" this host has, it is his slyness; deliberate conflation of disparate events; ridiculous assumption of cause and effect; use of nebulous and irrelevant facts; excusing/justifying the crimes of a evil regime with "historical" precedents or a nebulous notion of "determinant DNA;" and disrespect for the intelligence of listeners/readers. Nobody has ever called the Civic Party a "tragedy" until this man set out to create a new narrative by condemning them for being upholders of the Common Law and Judicial Independence. Not even the Communists would seriously consider Margaret Ng's short quote as "crossing a red line (until Mr Tao has kindly reminded them; isn't that what they did in the Cultural Revolution, picking apart people's innocuous and wholly legitimate words to label them as subversives?) Tao is rewriting a narrative and scheming to muddy the picture and change people's mind set on what is right and wrong. It is a kind of slightly subtle form of brainwashing. Listen to this and his many other talks and the inescapable conclusion is that this is a particularly nasty merchant of deception and menace. Any attempt to paint him as a "witty latter day Jonathan Swift or Oscar Wilde" reeks of desperation and folly.
