- This is another in a series of videos I plan to upload from time to time, documenting the gear and equipment that I and my hacker friends make use of on an everyday basis.
This video showcases a zipper package which perpetually lives in the bottom of my suitcase. When I get home from travel, a number of things are unpacked from my bags... but this always remains. It contains an assortment of incredibly useful "thank god i have this!" series of items. While they might not all be useful to you, perhaps some of them would be... so here you go!

... as always, none of those are Amazon affiliate links or anything like that. I'm not seeking kickbacks or a way to make an extra buck. I just want to share details with folk about what gets me through the day and I hope this video can serve as an answer to lots of the questions that I get regularly asked.
Enjoy!
I have something similar in my deployer bag (god I love the deployer bag) My wife always complains that it is “crap you will never need”. I can’t tell you how many times this “crap” has bailed our asses out, and hence why it is still taking up room in my deployer a decade later.
I need to get that door stop. Doubles as a neat makeshift lever / pressure applicator.
plus it'll be great for impromptu brain surgery (you know those bad days when you really have to hammer+wedge that skull open because your penknife saw snapped?)
Car doors...
@@gordslater One could use a plug spinner as an expedient trepanning tool.
I always stay in luxury hotel alone during business trip with DND on, so I only use disguised gopro to make sure anyone open my room door without my permission will cost the hotel tons of points which worth hundreds or thousands of USD.
Alternative title suggestion: 'The Hitch Hackers Guide to the Galaxy' and to reinforce this pack your towel. :D
Don't Panic
You're so good at talking succinctly and clearly without sacrificing personality! As a fellow educator, it's inspiring!
Good setup there. I'd recommend adding a Tide to Go pen (for stains) and a small sewing kit for if buttons pop off. Another thing I keep in the same type bag is a micro-umbrella. If I'm going somewhere and it's raining, I try to bring an umbrella... But sometimes the weather just doesn't cooperate.
The micro umbrella is a good idea. I tend to always have a very weatherproof shell jacket. That plus a cap gets me through most days... but a super small umbrella isn't a bad thought!
@@DeviantOllam - I try to always have the same, but sometimes it happens haha. I also keep a poncho and one of those cheap emergency blankets, and a mini first aid kit.
Good to be from Finland. We dont need those freaking bathing suits. Can always go naked
Really liking these travel/packing videos. There's always a few things you can pick up from other travelers. That door stop is really clever.
I love that there is always links to buy everything you show in your videos.
Having another smaller bag like that is great advice. The best for that I've found though is Osprey's Ultralight StuffPack. 18 litre bag with *real straps* that squishes down to nothing, weighs 90 grams. Always keep one in my backpack

This is handy, very handy. Thank you; it's nice to have a chance to learn from someone else's experience!
Good List and great show and tell Deviant.
You made yourself a Bobby Eaton bag! Beautiful!
i also have something like this but then i forget that all the stuff is in there when i'm travelling somewhere :D
I'm going to have to bring something awkwardly large for you to ship home to shmoocon. Maybe the Stargate.
This is a wormhole into your personal life
Let's see your work/hacker go-bag.
That's the other video I've released. Hah. An more are coming
These are great videos. Thanks. Also looking forward to your work bag......and your range bag. ☺️
You have beautiful carpet.
As someone who likes to pack as little as possible, this was a nightmare to watch :P
Heh, dude... It's only one little packing cube. About the size of a phone book.
People wear bathing suits in hot tubs in the us? interesting.
Also those inflatable bags seem pretty convenient, haven't seen those before.
In a hotel or something, yes.
In private homes, not always.
Ok thats fair enough.
Your idea of nothing is the size of all my luggage.
Maybe add one of those tiny combination nail clipper/file tools?
Is that cornflower blue?
Only thing missing is an extra sharpie!
Oh I keep extra sharpies on the webbing of my backpack. That is a future video. :-)
I found the talk things recently and I was really hoping you'd have a channel
8:28 "If you want to make sure that noone is coming in at night" ... that hasn't seen any of my other videos
How many different bags do you go with?! This seems to be like 5 different ones now.
So when are you planning on giving up this infosec phase and making travel bags full time?
I'll take 'What is MacGyver' for $1,000. :)
Where do I get that Mars rover landing bag.
That power strip where did you get that?
Never got anything flying first class. :(
Where did you get that doorstop ?. Great video btw.
Link is in the doobly-doo
Hacker tools? Not really here for “life tips.” Stick to what we’re here for. Hacks indeed.
Please see the worker in the window on your right as you exit. They will refund you all of your internet dollars.
DeviantOllam who do I see about refunding the 10 minutes of my life wasted on your clickbait video? You can send a money order for $10k and we will be square 😆😆😆
