I agree Phil could have had a great solo career but that’s not who he was. He was a loving brother and son first. I’ve really just realized how very talented he was in the past few weeks. I am very happy to see that he has so much of his work on RUclips for us fans and late bloomers to enjoy. It’s kind of eery to have such a crush on a dead man but here I am. Love this! I cried all weekend after learning of Phil's passing. They were my first "favorite artist" and always my favorite duo. As many have said, they taught a generation how to sing harmony. It took me 55 years to notice that Phil always stayed a little farther from the mike than Don, so his higher harmony part wouldn't overpower Don's melody. Glad that Phil lived to see the unique tribute of an entire album of theirs (1958 folk collection "Songs Our Daddy Taught Us") being covered, cleverly named "Foreverly" by Billie Joe Armstrong and Norah Jones. Phil was pleased with it. Now Phil is harmonizing in heaven with Jim Reeves, Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison, Jackie Wilson, Elvis, Sam Cook, Otis Redding and so many others we've lost. Prayers to the family.

I think you said it perfectly. The more I read from friends & family of Phil's, the more I see how my instincts were 100% correct at the tender age of 10... He really was a beautiful person. Heartbroken that he is gone, and so sad for his family. R I P, dear Phil, you will be sorely missed.

The everly bros was the music I grew up on and have not heard anyone to this day with the harmony they sang with,they were then and they are still the greatest duet I,ve ever heard and probably the closest to heaven I,d get

Love Phil's song but I am glad Phil and Don got back together before Phil died,,I think they would feel the same way.
They did. I spoke to Don shortly after Phil passed and he dearly loved his brother.
Now he's gone as well.

Don sang lead mostly, but Phil was actually a better singer (imho). He did add the dynamics to their harmonies. Love their music immensely
