So happy to come across this video and discovering Dr Sid Mukherjee who is such an intelligent human being. He’s a real asset, as an immigrant, to whichever country that is lucky enough to have his talents. America is indeed fortunate to have so many such great people. I have been following Dr Doudna for the last year after learning about the CRISPR technology.

i am not a biologist or medicine related, but i got engaged to the topic from book like the gene and the code breaker. Well, i am able to understand them, but i am not the best to talk to that topic, and i think other people feel the same, specially from other countries, where those big names are unknown.

Mr Mukherjee is such a great author with “The Emperor of all Maladies” and the “Gene” …I listened to these books in audio at the gym.
Jennifer Doudna won the Nobel Prize in March for her CRSPR research. Arthur Isaacson has written a wonderful book about her "The Code Breaker".
Great book. Monumental scientific achievement. Incredibly scary.

I’m glad you brought this up... once these scientists have their way they will effectively be “the creators” and people will rightly view them as God. Would it be fair to say at that point that there is not intelligent design??
@@BallyBoy95 well it depends on in which priesthood do you place your faith, the priests or the scientists. In any case your belief is mostly based on what they say. You don’t have any first hand knowledge of the vast majority of the scientific body. It is faith based one way or another, as is the nature of the human species.
@@tijan8948 Not necessarily. I study science myself and can test any assertions (hypotheses) being made. In religion, most claims cannot survive scientific scrutiny (e.g. replicating the act of turning water into wine).
If you're religious, that's great. But science is a different domain entirely, primarily renowned for the fact that faith does not factor into the equation. In order for anything to be established as a scientific principle, it must be able to be replicated by strangers (no faith here).
@@BallyBoy95 the scientists, like you presumably, are the priesthood. Any non scientist is simply taking them at their word. They are exercising faith because the scientists, with their Atomic bombs, have better proofs than you can find in the Bible. Human beings are faith based creatures, differentiating us from Neanderthals who didn’t have art and therefore did not have religion.
