  • This video shows how I made a lined clip-on mag pouch for the Sig P238 pistol magazine. This is the first of four videos I made of a batch of gear for Atomic Cowboy - a new eyewear company. The leather is 3-4 ounce Herman Oak, dyed with Fiebing's Pro Saddle Tan and Dark Brown, sewn with 277 natural colored bonded nylon thread, edges polished with Tokenole, and sealed with Fiebing's Resolene (diluted 1:1 with water).
The Polymer Belt Clip used in this video was purchased here: www.knifekits....

    ► LEATHER SUPPLIERS
Wickett & Craig - I typically order their "Tooling/Holster/Carving" vegetable tanned leather. I purchase their "Standard" grade, and I request that they split it down from a thicker hide so the back is as clean as possible. I normally order 7-8 ounce for holsters, 3-4 ounce if I'm lining a holster (I build the whole thing out of 3-4 ounce), and either 3-4 or 4-5 ounce for wallets, journal covers, etc... They will allow you to purchase individual hides
Herman Oak - While I love the leather I've gotten from Wickett & Craig, I prefer the warmer coloring of natural Herman Oak. Unfortunately, H.O. requires you to buy leather in bulk from the tannery, and buying from distributors can be hit & miss. Springfield Leather sells "Herman Oak Premium Belt Bend", so I’ve been using this lately.

Adam, I just noticed you posted this 1st of 4 videos. Awesome! Just FYI (for all of you out there) I'm the lucky person that received this Holster and Mag pouch. The Video and images are great but seeing, first hand, Adam's craftsmanship and attention to detail is truly incredible. By far, this is the best hand crafted, high quality and constructed holster I have or have seen. The quality of the aesthetic is superb. I couldn't be happier with the Result. Well done Adam! Thank you.

How about that bigger cutting table bench U we're going 2 build and asked me how?? You R 2 good 2 stay away long. Did UR Son continue with his Leather work?? One of these days U have 2 come down and and visit me and show me how 2 use sewing machine, I still HAND SEW EVERYTHING. I have the same machine as you just don't use it. Sorry so loooong. Hi Jim - never did enclose my leather area. I doubt I ever will at this point, unless I win the lottery.... But I'd have to start playing first! :-) Cutting table can't really get any bigger unless I remodel the loft area in my shop to remove a big column, or move my leather area out from under my loft. But that encroaches on my woodworking area. LOL My son has made a few more wallets for friends, but he's been focusing more on running our CNC machine for his Etsy business that he started with his friend. You may have told me, but where about are you located?

When you open up for orders again, I'll be posting for a SIG P-229, although I do ask if you make holsters for the legacy model that comes without the rail. Thank you James - I have to admit I've had better success burnishing edges with 50/50 beeswax & paraffin & my drill press burnisher, but it's also more work. Trying to give Tokenole a chance since so many people recommend it, but I don't think I've quite mastered it yet. Thank you for watching and commenting!
