    Eons ago a local mall hobby shop had glass display cases in the back that had some dioramas on display. One of them was the Quad Tractor + Limber and 25lber. It was a desert scene with a single crewman taking a leak on the back tire of the tractor. 😄 Simple, effective and stuck with me since then. I've got the kit on the shelf behind me and this video has inspired me to bring it to my "next build" position. Cheers.

    Fascinating how good such an outdated kit looks when treated with some love!

      Thanks. Yes, they're a good base for practising a little bit of detailing and some minor scratch building. I have the Tamiya Sd.Kfz 7/1 in the stash which is another oldie but goodie. Looking forward to building that.

      It might be old, but not really outdated. Many kits of this era -- from Airfix to Matchbox to Hasegawa -- were as good, or better, than many today.

    G'day MN, I saw this kit in my local hobby shop and didn't think it would be a very interesting build. After seeing what you've achieved, which is excellent, I'll be going back to buy this kit. I'll try to find one with the 25 lb Howitzer. A really good effort from you to make an ordinary, mass produced truck into a special, personalised version. I love that trick with the scale tarp. That is a stroke of genius and can be used in so many types of models. Thanks for this great video. Cheers, Bill Hobart, Tasmania

      Hi Andrew. Thanks so much for your comment - I'm glad you liked the videos. New kits for beginners? You can't go wrong with Tamiya kits - always perfect kit and a good balance between detail and avoiding too many fiddly parts. But there are a lot of other great manufacturers too - I particularly liked Takom. Their kits are more detailed and tend to have more parts, but I'd say their engineering is up there with Tamiya's. The first kits I bought when I got back into the hobby were Tamiya Su-85 and Takom's Mark I. Have fun!

    About 8 years ago , I was going to buy a real one of these. Guy just would not be realistic about the value. He thought it was in perfect condition. I knew I would need to take the body off to repair the holes in the chassis!. And someone paid the money. But it now sits rotting in a yard - untouched in 5 - 6 years.

    • @BigLisaFan

      Typical. Found a fairly original 13 cab Ford CMP 15 cwt. Needed full restoration, seized engine from sitting but it still had the oil breakdown lamps and all the bits and pieces. My friend tried to make a deal. He wanted $5000.00 or an equivalent trade vehicle for the boat yard. Best my friend went to was $850.00 from $500.00. No deal. The property was eventually sold and the scrap man came in for all the scrap metal including that lovely restorable CMP.

    • @ModelNerd
      @ModelNerd  4 года назад

      Ouch. No idea what the scrap value of it would be, but hard to imagine anyone won in this situation.

    • @BigLisaFan
      @BigLisaFan 4 года назад

      @@ModelNerd Scrap man won. Don't think they realized what they had. 2 CMPs went the same way in 1980 in Drumbo, Ontario. A farm was being sold and equipment auctioned off. The sale had been 2 weeks prior when I heard about it. Fellow who told me about it said the trucks didn't sell. Got a hold of the auctioneer who contacted the scrap fellow only to learn that no one had wanted the "old English trucks" so they put them into the crusher. Again, not realizing what they had. Makes you sick. Found a complete Ford 15ct 11 cab in Hawkesbury. Still in original paint but the shop hasn't gotten back as to what the owner wants to do. Still has the tarp top bows. If I ever got it, I'd just fix the mechanics and drive it as is, it's that original.
