You gave me in 34mn what I was expecting from my coach from Day 1 and never got.
Now waiting from you a video with these 3 points + release ( fingers release) and the final movement of the arm and hand
Perfect lesson I will apply today !
I remember seeing you in a new RUclipsrs subreddit YEARS ago and just recently picked up archery for fun. Lo and behold after looking up some advice, the algorithm has brought me right back to you. Good to see you're still at it!
Hey, nice to see you creating content after a break! Your videos got me started with my recurve, and I continued to get into hunting with a compound. The bad news : I'm looking at six months of rehab after a stroke 😢. Any advice for changes to equipment for a differently abled Archer?
Great to see you uploading again. Ive been doing archery for about 3 years now, had my coaching done last year. I was shooting "instinctive" and was ok, then i have an issue with my left eye, for a line for me has a curve in it, and reading is hard because the words are either so scrambled or a letter is missing. Apparently when i whent to a optician they found i have a gap in the irise or pupil, i wasnt to sure looking at the picture. Any way so at first i was actually afraid too shoot incase i couldn't, and that really scared me so didnt shoot for about a month. Im a right handed archer so one day after watching a archery video i couldn't stand it any more, i had to see if my aim was good just using my right eye, and it was...infact i would go as far to say better, i have a much better sight between my anchor and tip of my arrow, i also found the faster i shoot from anchor the more acurate i am, if i look too long i over think it, so for me as soon as im at anchor its pretty much a few seconds then i release, and even im surprised how accurate i am now compared to doing instinctive. Obviously ive got to get my eye looked at by the hospital and going threw that process. Sorry for a long comment, i just felt what you mentioned about instinctive verse not, really applied to my situation. Great video, as this helped me understand more about my process.
Nice to hear and see something from you again.
Your videos are always enriching and to the point. The essence of archery, so to speak. 👍
Three F's are also FUN, FUN, FUN. 😊
When u miss or have string slap: F* F* F******k😅
Best instruction video ive seen! Thanks😊
Excellent video. So many videos teach the KSL shot cycle. Your 3 a's are so much simpler and accessible for the beginner. KSL is an excellent framework but way too complicated for we beginners. One problem that I have, and I would love too see you address, is holding steady. It seems like my arrow point wanders all over the target no matter how much I try holding it steady, leading to rushed shots and frustratingly inconsistent results.
Agreed. The problem is that you can't teach yourself KSL. You can read the book, but without a qualified coach, you're almost certainly going to get it wrong.
Excellent video and spot on. Coaching through the 80s and 90s we had a similar framework for aim, anchor, elbow, and loose. A relaxed wrist and that elbow position, around and seated (for a good draw force line), were crucial for a smooth shot. With the elbow in the right position, simply "loosening" the finger tension allows the bow to do what it needs to, and the released tension in the back and upper arm will naturally move the drawing hand backwards. The "loose" terminology is perfect for describing many things in archery to make it as natural and repetitive as possible.
It was the late 90s when there was a big drive towards back tension and a "dynamic release". This change in terminology and mindset turned something natural into a forceful action that resulted in some dramatic, flamboyant and quite explosive shows that messed up many experienced archers. Pushing and plucking, hands flying behind ears, bows falling to the ground. Every time I see the KSL cycle I remember how it started and the struggles.
For me the beginner has enough to contend with, so your aim, anchor, alignment (elbow)... and "loose"... is fundamental.
Beautifully explained.
You can explain it simply... Thank you!
Great explanation, made it nice and clear for my cluttered mind
Great video. Learned some good stuff about aligment.
Fabulous instruction. Thank you.
This had simplified things for me. Thank you 😊
Excellent video. Thank you.
🤯🤯🤯
OF COURSE!!!!!
I would set my aim - arrow at the bottom of the black.
Then look in the middle of the target and then release. OF COURSE you should still watch the tip of your arrow to maintain aim... WHY didn't I realize this!?!? It's SO OBVIOUS NOW THAT YOU SAID IT SHEEESH 😤😤😮💨
Fantastic video. Really helping alot.
the three F's; form, focus, follow through
Beginning archer here, thank you for your video's i have learned alot. i shot my first 5/6 in the yellow yesterday and with your tips on wrist i will hit 6/6 next time :)
I took only one class of archery and watched many videos to learn how to aim and I've been thinking a bit. Nobody ever mentioned that the aiming of archery is actually aiming with your two hands, the arrow flys along the line between your two hands. Instictive shooting is about the feeling between your eyes and your two hands. Anchoring and alignment and form is about consitentsy, better using muscles, avoding injuries, etc. that facilitate aiming. They are important but won't work without a good aiming method.
Good stuff. Now I want the instinctive (Asiatic) version of this. Thanks.
Thanks!
Thanks alot ,,,
since i need to wait like 3 month before I can start the archery course at my local club, this is my archery intake for the time being lol
Nice video, as always. I definitely have wrist kink.
Could you compare both the benefits and drawbacks of both the split finger vs the 3 under pull back techniques? And do you have a preference for one or the other and why?
And how much does your footwork/proper balanced stance matter and how does it impact accuracy?
Great information if I learned one thing, it was how to chop off a hand
Found this channel through Reddit cool 😎
😎
Very good video, thank you very much for posting it. AIM, ANCHOR, ALIGN. I have a question. I am a traditional archer, I do not aim with the tip of the arrow or with any other method, how do I do the first step of "Aiming"? THANK YOU.
Firstly, being a traditional archer doesn't mean have to shoot without aiming. Unless you are shooting at a moving target, you are purposefully doing something to position your bow to point towards the target. The question is: what _exactly_ are you doing to get yourself into this alignment? If you do not have an "aim" step, then the immediate solution is to make one. If you're only looking at the target and doing nothing else consciously, then you're just guessing, and that is the antithesis of marksmanship. If your goal is to shoot purely "instinctively" like this, that's fine, that's just the standard you will be at. If your goal is to improve your groupings, you need to identify more reference points that you can check with every shot. Your reference points - and whether or not you "aim" - is a choice you make. If you do not aim with any method, then your groupings are a result of this choice.
@@NUSensei Thank you very much for your answer, it is very clear. For me it is very difficult to aim with conscious references, since I am a bow hunter and many shots are taken at moving targets or if the target is stationary, my shot will be very fast. Hunting archery is different from sporting or precision archery.
Thank you and greetings.
@@manuelgonzalezzambrano1989 That's exactly the difference. If you are relying on instinctive archer, you are more depending on shooting with good form and tracking the target with your eyes more so than aiming.
Cheers
Ps i shoot 3 under again started with gap, but found 3 under gave me a better reference because my anchor is just under my lips and in the middle of the jaw.
😂 Wrist, wrist, wrist!👌
Morning all. I've been practicing archery for about three weeks now. I bought a cheapo Amazon 30 pound bow thinking that should be light enough. I can draw it and shoot as well you'd expect from someone with my experience. In other words, I can get the arrows flying in a straight line and in the general direction of the target.
However the shoulder holding the bow and/or the bicep really hurt after 10-20 arrows. I have to take a day or two before picking it up again.
I'm not a big guy and probably not in the best shape. My question is, is pain in those places normal for a newbies, did I over bow myself or is there a no no I'm doing in terms of technique.
Any and all advice is welcome.
Thanks much 👍
definitely shouldn't hurt after that few arrows! maybe have someone film your form so you can see what's going on? and a lighter bow would def help
@@kategrexa754 Thank you. I asked around and figured out my posture was wrong. I had my elbow locked straight instead of a slight bend. I think you're correct that I should go to a lighter bow. I'm in too much of a hurry to get some kind of sight picture and let go.
Hello NUSensei, good day. A rather unexpected question here; Are you thinking of returning to War Thunder content by any chance?
0% chance.
@@NUSensei lol
I struggle finding a visual reference when shooting asiatic style off the outside of the bow, the point of the arrow is completely obscured by the bow when I'm at anchor.
Soon...
I figured you'd get to it. One of the best things about your channel is that you cover multiple traditions.
What bow are you using in this video?
A Trad or a Traditional bow
THE CORRECT WAY TO DO ARCHERY IS THE WAY THAT HITS THE TARGET
NUSensei you personally need to increase your back tension
Is no one gonna talk about how the most shredded part of his target is the bullseye? lol
Yesterday i got 9 kills in Chi-Ri, so close to glorious 10 😢
NEVER HEARD OF THEM AFTER A LIFETIME OF ARCHERY.
NUSENSAI IS A POET AND HE DON'T KNOW IT.
