Most business models are the more work you get or the better you are compared to the competition, the more money you make. With insurance companies, the better you are compared to your competitor, for example paying out genuine claims, the more money you lose. How can you have a conference on projected revenue when the only way to get there is to let people suffer by denying a claim in perhaps the lowest point in their lives.
Ive read the comments sections of dozens of videos regarding the assassination, and not a single one comment is in defense of the CEO. Ive never seen anything like it. People are fed up with the corporate model and the pain and suffering it causes.
Both the corporate system as well as a single payer government system have their problems. What there needs to be is a hybrid system. Some states have something kind of like that. I guess that's kind of what the affordable healthcare act was supposed to be but if course they messed it up like government does with most things. A better version of that model could be effective. Adding tort law to the mix would help also to bring down malpractice costs and eliminate more frivolous lawsuits.
@@moif_velocitaDemocrats has control for the last 4 years and did nothing about it either. Don't be fooled, it's in the best interests of both political parties to empower these companies and get their kickbacks from them. To be honest I wouldn't trust the government to have complete control over the system either like in Canada and much of Europe. It would have to either be some sort of hybrid system where the companies and the government can check and balance each other (rather than feed off each other in the current model), or, create some sort of third party that is overseen by government but isn't actually part of the government that can handle it and run it not for profit. All sounds great on paper of course but could it actually be done properly? Probably not.

“Projected revenues of 450 billion.” How is it possible that insurance company can make that much money and still have the audacity to deny the claims of people who need care? Edit: I know the difference between revenue and net profit. Their net income was good enough to warrant a 10 million a year salary for the CEO. If a company exists to provide healthcare then why does his salary need to be so high? If he's such a great man why didn't he take a 5 million pay cut to help out the 30% percent of people whose claims were denied? The answer is greed. That's the point.
Even better, they use AI to deny claims, and have a 32% denial rate of claims, which is almost double the average of other insurance companies. So that necessary treatment you need? I don’t have United healthcare but I am contracted with them. They owe me over 30,000 for services rendered to their patients. They would often delay payments until the fiscal quarter to make the interest and fatten up their revenue reports. One time they denied a claim saying they didn’t have my tax ID. @@Ghostdawg176 most doctors are not employed by the hospital and just collect the fees from insurance. So doctors have very little say on how much is charged. How many innocent people have been harmed because of this company? And how much profit did they make again?
Submitting information for a claim is easily done by scanning into the computer and attaching to the actual billing claim form and then sending the whole thing electronically to the insurance company. Insurance billing is sent in batches by the provider this way on every billing cycle. Electronic billing is what medical offices use with very few plans accepting paper claims. It seems that the persons claim was not being sent electronically along with the standard medical practice claim form /bill so for some reason the original claim and medical.record never attached together to be processed by the insurance. This could have been noones actual fault just a matter of logistics.
I had a dental claim that was denied because UHC claimed a root canal and core buildup was done with no intention of ever placing a crown. They said the paperwork wasn't done to prove that. How does a dentist do core buildup with no intention of crown, would be the first time in dental history. It took more than eight months for UHC to finally admit the claim.

I moved here from the UK in 1993. It's a magnificent country with one huge caveat. Just don't ever get sick or require medical treatment. It would seem to be their usual modus operandi.
Rewards for apprehension of criminals are almost never paid out. Police will take the tip, then claim after the arrest the criminal that they already had the information. Rewards are just a scam.

@Agressivemap1233 Based on what?
And yet America just voted for more of the same thing
Both the corporate system as well as a single payer government system have their problems. What there needs to be is a hybrid system. Some states have something kind of like that. I guess that's kind of what the affordable healthcare act was supposed to be but if course they messed it up like government does with most things. A better version of that model could be effective. Adding tort law to the mix would help also to bring down malpractice costs and eliminate more frivolous lawsuits.

You can sort of get an insight into the company work ethic too. The most praised employees will be the cut throat types who shut down the majority of legitimate claims they process. On the other side will be the employees who have a conscience and put through all valid claims only to get the most grief from their managers in team briefs and subtle threats of disciplinary proceedings.
I am a senior with bad varicose veins. Had an ultrasound almost 4 weeks ago. Nurse said she will submit my ultrasound to Aetna to get approval for treatment.
She said approval would take 2 weeks. Well it took 3 weeks and 4 days for approval of treatment on ONE leg. I need BOTH legs treated.
Insurance companies are second guessing doctors. I am in pain and can not get my one leg treated until Jan 23. Today is Dec 6.

With the best Medicare plan at the time, my husband and I had to declare bankruptcy twice. We spent through savings, pension and other insurances to
keep up with cancer related expense only to lose everything twice. The insurance company along with unnecessary medical procedures and their complications destroyed our family.

I work for a dental insurance company and I have to tell people why their claims are denied. Giving them stupid BS reasons that I despise. I wholeheartedly empathize with them and people who have their medical claims denied, as I too deal with it personally on a regular basis. I do try to give them tips and tricks on how to work the system, and failing that, how they can avoid similar denials in the future. If under UHC Medicare plan all that is needed is a referral to a specialist that the primary doctor office generates and sends over to the specialist for scheduling the first office new patient visit or if UHC group loan HMO no difference , the primary doctor refers and sends over the referral then specialist sets up thr appointment. If a PPO or other no referral needed plan patient needs no referral for an in network provider. Their primary will send medical records over to whomever the patient is going to.
Medical offices are to blame for the majority of wait times to see a specialist because their staff is over loaded with referrals and the staff is not experienced.
