Public proposals are an absolute no unless 1. you've discussed your future with the person and they see themself getting married to you, 2. you've discussed proposals and know for sure that they'd like a public proposal.

My friend cleared it with his girl in advance. They chatted about it. Had serious chats about it. Determined they would say yes to each other. He talked openly about ring shopping. He takes her to NYC to propose and she flips out. Completely chickens, takes a “break” and cheats with three other men. The relationship is over.

@@christopherday3494 we don't know that tho! They most likely have talked about it before and she said she would like a public proposal or said she would want to marry him. The vast majority of couples have that talk before the proposal. IF he just sprung it on her out of nowhere they've never had a talk about whether they'd want to get married before or if the relationship is actively in a bad place that would be really manipulative. BUT I think most people who do public proposals are smart enough to know for sure they're going to get a yes and it's what their partner would want BEFORE doing it. And the people who don't know for sure are people who are just throwing one last hail mary trying to save the relationship.

my favorite proposal from these clips was the one in the bird sanctuary and the girl on the stands volunteered and was told to hold up a 5 dollar note, the bird flew to her hand and took the note then flew back with the 'receipt', and when she read it her boyfriend bgot down on one knee as she read the marriage proposal from the bird. Literally the best example of "and then everybody clapped". 😊

The plane proposal is aweful, in my opinion. First it's public so it's harder to say no if she wanted to. Two it's on a plane so she cannot escape him if she wanted to or take a minute to think. Third they're on their way to Bali were they likely know no one and are away from family and friends (support system) should anything go wrong.
It's personal preference but this gives me major icks 😖

      @maleighlovesbroadway 3 дня назад

Well you should not propose if there is a chance your partner will say no or...want to get away from you? These things should be discussed ahead of time and communication is key! Talk about how far into the relationship would you consider marrying the person, and by the time you have reached that amount of time, if you don't both know for certain that you are with your forever, you should not be together anymore

My husband proposed to me at Alnwick Castle. It was at a picnic bench and my 2 year old daughter was standing up on the seat next to him rubbing a stick of pepperami on his head. It was lovely and quite emotional despite the "distraction".
About half an hour later we walk around the gardens and come across this huge water fountain/feature. I couldn't help the words "this would've been THE place to propose" just spill out of my mouth.
I was mortified! I sounded so ungrateful. We do look back at it 12 years on with amusement.

Naturally an awkward person with an aversion to PDA, I hollered out "he's getting on my health insurance!" then proceeded to match his one-knee kneel by getting down on two knees and hunching over so he was still taller than me. Married 7 years and have a kid. He jokingly reminds me that I never actually said "yes." As a US citizen, though, I found giving him health insurance to quite romantic. 💞

I had my wife pick out her ring. At the time, I didn't have a lot of money, I had just gotten on my feet, and had been homeless/living in my car when she and I started dating. When I bought the ring, it was the most expensive thing I'd ever bought in my life. I had this whole grand proposal planned out, was going to have a close friend of mine come to town and help me orchestrate this whole thing in downtown DC around the monuments and stuff.
Well, she and I went to the jeweler to pick up the ring when it was ready (sizing and whatnot), and just having the thing in my posession stressed me out to the point I almost had a panic attack walking out to the car. I had to excuse myself to 'run to the restroom' to get a grip on myself. I was so worried I was going to lose or damage this ring...
Anyway, we got to the car, and I took the box out of my pocket and looked at her, stared blankly for a minute and she gets all attitudinal and asks "What?!"... I hand it to her, and I'm still so disappointed in myself for not finding better words. I handed her the box and said "Here, this is your problem now."
And that's how we got engaged.

My personal favourite moments from this video:
    1. The husband of the prone-overreactive cousin dragging her and holding her mouth at 5:13
    2. Getting mesmerised by one of the cutest animals whilst on the job at 5:51
    3. Ryan's comment at 7:18 😂😂 so true - also, couldn't think of anywhere worse to propose than an aeroplane
    4. And the very last clip because of the laugh alone 🤣😅

I’ve not only seen a proposal, but I stood with the photographer and filmed it. Ending up sending it to the couple :) it was really sweet.

I got a public proposal once. It was cringe. I said yes because I was embarrassed. It was their first public engagement so I’m pretty sure our picture is still hanging on their wall. Fast forward 6 weeks & his true plan was revealed. He then kidnapped me & attempted to unalive me. I HATE public proposals.

I've seen a grand total of 3 proposals happen in my proximity. 1 was my sister-- good for her-- and the other two were people at a convention I go to almost every year. The sweetest one I saw was the third, and it's because they were in a couples cosplay and they proposed at a photo meet up. So sweet.
But I have not seen a proposal rejection yet.

    It's funny how algorithm works...
Today my girlfriend broke up with me. I am not mad or anything, but I feel this darkness, like a void in my chest and mind. This was my second relationship, and I know we didn't combine very well, but still, I tried to be supportive of her, give her random gifts, try to talk, and mostly try to understand her. I always put in higher than average effort and work, not only in relationships but also at work, with family, and with friends. I always want to see other people happy-that makes me happy. Yes, I am a so-called people pleaser, but I do it because of love.
It hurts because it happened not once but twice that someone rejected my effort. I think now I need more time to recover. I used to think people who needed time out after a breakup were weak or didn't want it anymore, but now I understand that our mind is precious, and we do need a break after that, especially when it happens kind of randomly and ends up being confusing. I still question why I did this and that, but it doesn't matter anymore. Now I have more experience, and once again, my mind has opened new doors.

It took me 4 serious, years long relationships where I did my best and they ended hurting me. I am a people pleaser too, I made up my mind to up my standards and make different choices in a man, and I found my beloved husband. We've raised a son and had some pretty great times together. Do yourself a favor, marry someone you could be best friends with, it makes all the difference.

Public proposals should absolutely be talked about prior. Plus you should know your partner and what they prefer. I’d hate hate having everyone’s attention on me- especially if it’s a no. If you don’t know your partner’s thoughts on marrying you/public marriage- bring it up as a hypothetical or have their friend’s/family ask. Better way to find out they’re not ready and/or going to break up with you privately than publicly. Then no one feels like a prick :)

On an airplane flight is probably top five worst places you could possibly propose. What if they say no? You have nowhere to go, you can't escape, you're just stuck there for however long your flight is.

Totally with you Toni. I told my, now fiancé that if he ever proposed then i didnt want an audience.
He proposed with a haribo ring, on a walk during COVID in 2020, on a grassy area overlooking the sea. It was lovely and quiet. But when we told my Dad where he proposed, he informed us that the land was old refuse land 🙈. Now my fiancé tells people he proposed to me on at a rubbish tip 😂.
A month later when shops opened we went to collect the ring he had ordered a week before lockdown, but i still have my original haribo ring and hope to frame it!

My husband proposed to me at home after a fancy dinner and we were playing dice. He was winning and I’m really competitive. I kept getting notes from him whenever I rolled my dice. Started out by saying “hi :-)” the next one said “I have to ask you something…” and I was so mad I was losing I ripped that note up and threw it in the air like confetti and said then just ask me! Next thing I know, I look to my left and my husband is on one knee asking me to be his wife 😂

So when my husband proposed we had just seen Deadpool and on our way out of the theater there is a fountain. He proposed at the fountain and people in the line for the movies came over and wanted to take our pictures because they had never seen a proposal in real life. They were super nice.
We now live down the street from the place we got engaged and everytime we go there my husband goes "looks like a nice place to propose to someone ". We celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary this Tuesday 9/24/24 and we couldn't be happier. ❤❤

Give me a proposal at home on a random Tuesday when we’re just hanging around the house in our comfies… no pomp and circumstance…
Although I COMPLETELY feel the chick that had to get her zoomies out!!! I tend to “get flappy” when over excited… just arms flying everywhere… usually a weird noise coming from my mouth…it’s not photogenic in the least. so yeah, I get it. 😂
