Yeah as an owner of one of these cars, I agree with all of his criticisms. But you can get one at MSRP, you just gotta find a dealer taking orders at MSRP which some are, and then wait. Mine came 5 months after ordering. Not bad

Sewell in Texas probably has filled more blackwing orders than all the other dealers combined and they are selling strictly at MSRP. The wait list is long and they did have to close it to out of state buyers for a while due to demand.

Not just anti-EV but more importantly anti-SUV. And the fact that anyone who buys one will probably never experience much in the way of depreciation tells you everything you need to know about this car.
I’m anti EV because it makes no sense. EVs are amazing in places like NYC,LA etc. however they make ZERO sense for roadtrips, or rural America. For this reason I believe EVs are nothing more than the government pushing their agenda on us. 9/10 times hybrids make so much more sense than electric cars.
First Blackwing is one of the coolest car names ever. Second, a programmable LSD. Third, a manual. Fourth, at 200mph, never! ( Always on the podium). Fifth those seats. And finally, piano black trim inside because its GM..hahahahah
That's not piano black thank God. V3 had the piano black and i was constantly cleaning it. In the Blackwing is a formulated plastic made to handle fingerprints MUCH better. In person it looks like a metallic dark gray or black.
One of the best cars EVER made. Sports car, sports sedan, enthusiast car, car guy car, car show car, family car, road trip car, manual transmission car, tailpipe music car, or commuting car. It’s a piece of art on wheels, and I want one before they stop making them. And the best part? It’s not an EV so you can still work on it and upgrade whatever you want with a hammer in your garage with some buddies and beer. RIP car guys….EVs are taking over and this is the last hurrah.

I take Matt Farrah for instance who is very giving with his harsh criticisms of GM cars, he loves the CT5V Blackwing. This is the first time hearing it’s a harsher car than the M5 despite the fact the Blackwing had magnetic ride control. Not doubting you per say just shocked is all. But every Journalist is different of course and that’s okay
After watching this video back to back with your earlier test of the smaller CT4-V Blackwing I was surprised at how many more complimentary adjectives you bestowed on it than this it's bigger CT5-V Blackwing brother! I know the larger Blackwing with that sweet LT-4 V8 has that infectious put-a-smile-on -your-face acceleration but the smaller more agile Blackwing you seemed to heep more praise on describing it as "magnificent" twice. So as a Driver's car which would you prefer? A fan as always!
Good eye and you got me. I was more 'blown away' by the CT4-V Blackwing. Between the two, it is more of the driver's car. Yes, weight has a lot to do with it. However, it is not that black & white. The CT5-V Blackwing is truly a weapon unlike others that have come before it. What you are seeing in my face and my reactions is the realization that these belong on a track.
Just bought my 22 today. Should get to my house on Monday or Tuesday. $101k sticker. Paid $114k for it. Was worth it since it was loaded and black on black on black, which was the only spec I wanted. Had to pay a premium for it. Loaded with carbon too, which you can't find either so. I think I won.

I own an old 2011 CTS-V and it's great. I love the CTS-V Blackwing for the published HP and torque numbers, but I would definitely buy a used CTS- V V3 2016 for the price and performance. and they are out there fore sale Okay...Happy New Year!!!
Personally, I like that paint color and I would not order a sunroof. I've had sunroofs in my last 3 cars and 95% of the time I have the sunroof closed and sunroof shade closed. For me, sunroofs are a waste of money. YMMV. That c-pillar treatment with the faux window? Ugh. That still catches my eye and it is just stupid. It's a lazy design. Instead of fixing the shape, they put some gloss black plastic on the pillar to make it look like a window. Some executive needed to have a pair of cojones to point at that on the design and tell the designers that they need to fix that or he's going to take them behind the corporate woodshed. This is undoubtedly a great car, but it is example number 795,993 of GM not sweating the details.
I know you don't like the dark grey metallic on this car, but to my eyes it looks lovely! On a separate point, after your test of the last pure v12 Lamborghini, I wonder if this is going to be the last pure v8 Caddy! Sad days for those of us who like cars with emotion, engagement and soul! 😢
The 5BW can dance, it might get smoked in drag races by its German counterparts, but from A to B it is FAST, faster than those German rivals mentioned. If Cadillac wanted to demolish those European speed sleds, all they have to do is a Track Package with Cup 2 tires, recalibrate the suspension and make the ceramic brakes are part of it, add some chassis stiffeners/plates, and maybe even offer carbon fiber wheels, aka Z06 Vette.
Count me surprised you haven't driven the Manual Camaro ZL1/1LE. It weighs the same as the CT4 V BW (3860lbs) however has the LT4 engine with the same firepower as the CT5V BW. Best part - considering it has the trick DSSV suspension and ultra stiff springs - it should address all of your concerns.
You need a little work on your interior color combos. You can get torch red seat belts with sky cool gray (not just gray) seats. I know as I have them.
Well, concerning electronics...you will always be chasing the latest and greatest. When you think you have it, you don't. You were pretty tough on the infotainment system. The bottom line is it works and works well. It is highly intuitive and looks good. You're pretty critical of many subjective items - color, sunroof or not, faux-suede material. The faux-suede material is Altcantara but due to licensing rights Cadillac cannot refer to it as such. Steering? MRC? You're one of the only reviews to give them a knock.

I’ve been looking at already two-year-old videos from UK’s Harry’s Garage You Tube channel about PHEV - Petrol Hybrid Electric Vehicles Vs EV - Electric Vehicle and there wasn’t the infrastructure then to make charging pure EV away from home viable. Apart from an even then extensive Elon Musk Tesla funded high capacity network of chargers. More manufacturers are offering Hybrid which the petrol internal combustion petrol engine its mated with will charge without needing a network, but Harry said you needed to charge then at home to get the best efficiently, or mpg for the petrol engine as its being supplemented by the hybrid electric motor. Cars are getting too complicated. I like this car, with a powerful V8. Harry has a ‘Skunk Works’ Jaguar Project 8. Although that was coined for the SR 71 Black Bird spy plane developed in the 1960s by Lockheed.
Correction: PHEV is ‘Plug-in Hybrid’ and illustrates the emphasis is to keep charging the battery. But, because it also has an Internal Combustion Engine and isn’t a pure EV - Electric Vehicle, you aren’t at the mercy of finding a network charger and will be able to get to your destination: work; the Gym; a friend’s house etc and plug it in: either with the emergency cable for a standard domestic 13A socket in the UK or a proper charger like Setek. If you don’t regularly charge the battery for the electric motor: the mpg goes down and is probably worse than a standard non-hybrid as you are moving a heavy electric motor and battery. But you can’t get stranded like with an EV if you cannot find a compatible and serviceable network charger.
You should have said that you were looking for one of these. My dealership in Nashville had one two months ago when my wife and I went to look at the pre-production Lyriq that was visiting. Blue, three pedals, all the fixin's. In fact I had my wife sit in it since as you know, she has a dual mentality about cars where she is all about the EV sustainable future and yet has a bad side where she secretly loves high horsepower shift-your-own gears driving. You should have seen the look on her face when I told her to look down at her feet.

You’re missing the point. It doesn’t matter that the EV will be faster. Anyone with a fast EV gets bored of it quickly, Because in the rear world, 0-60 in 2.0 seconds means nothing. This Cadillac has 2 things that are key: driver engagement through the manual transmission, and the most glorious exhaust sound you can buy. This car evokes passion simply starting and idling it in your garage, waiting at a red light, downshifting in a school zone, or when going to get groceries. No EV can do that.
Vehicles like this one make me confident that I understand how cowboys felt after they saw the first automobile. I'm also confident that because of cars like this, or the GR Corolla, or even the spate of extremely capable off-road trucks on sale now, that there is no "marketplace." There are the engineers at automakers who are geniuses and love engines and want to build them, the public that wants such vehicles, and the academia/media/government/ngo overlords which hate all of us and want us to be chained to electric outlets no more than 150 miles from whatever charging station. Seriously, why would anybody buy an electric car based on anything other than price? They are all the same in every other way. There are only so many ways to have a touchscreen or a sunroof, and how expensive can it be to give every car luxury vegan faux leather seats? This whole world is retarded.
Regarding the non-stop EV dialog, can't we just ignore it? Each time the subject is mentioned we buy into it a little bit more. Reject it! Besides, people are starting to wake up to how absurd the idea is, as Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) mentioned to Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg at a hearing 1 or 2 Tuesdays ago: "Numbers are important. It would take four times as much electricity to charge the average household's cars as the average household uses on air conditioning." That's a true statement, and it really crystallizes how nonsensical these Great Reset people are.
Ugh this car. I never TD it but in my adventure of buying my trophy car. I TD the M5, Comp, E63, 911, bought the LC500 but i had my eye on this. None were avail to test add to that the dealers almost laughed at me when i wanted to test it. And see what happened.

All this focus on passenger cars when there are so many other industries that burn way more C02 related emissions. Passenger cars make up such a small percentage of emissions, it's a joke to even keep it as a problem in the conversation. And electric vehicles are such a joke as a solution to the problem. You to re-engineer the entire infrastructure of even a medium-sized city, one. Two, all electric vehicles, they don't even sell that high in quantity to deserve all the press they're getting.
EVs are a political ploy. The government doesn’t have a solution to the infrastructure issue to supply the required power yet they’re pushing the sale of the cars. Go figure.
Nice review. You are right that Cadillac went cheap with a strut front suspension on their flagship performance vehicle. Typical GM bean counters at work justifying their lucrative salaries. I do think white on black is the best combo. It's timeless. 100K for a Cadillac is just to much. I give you credit for knocking some things on the car. Other youtubers and media are to afraid to say anything bad against any vehicle they get from the press fleet for fear of being blacklisted. Then not being able to get a fleet car for review for at least a year.
Here here great review and overview of the landscape. All these people buying electric cars are going to be sorry when they're burning up after hitting a pole or rear-ended on the freeway like a giant Roman candle. I don't think people realize what they're getting themselves into.
Extremely nit picky review. He’s such a critic of the Cadillac brand, it’s a no brainier for the performance and technology you get with this model which far undercuts Mercedes-Benz more luxurious interiors and other brands.
I hate to sound harsh. Grow up. If you want bright "look at me" colors on your car. Buy a Dodge. But, if you want to be a mature adult, get a subdued color car. Also, stop nit picking the prices. If you compare the price against a BMW, the Cadillac is 30 grand cheaper with ALL the options. "It's not a fast car." You have jokes, right. Kelly Blue Book raced the Blackwing head to head against a C8 on their U-Drag race series. The Blackwing won. Someone else ran it against a new Redeye Challenger. The Blackwing won. BTW If you don't "track" your car. The Carbon Ceramic brakes will last you 100,000 miles. Far mor miles than the typical Blackwing buyer will put on their car. When I bought mine I checked EVERY box. Because that is what you do when you "worked" your way up to a 100 thousand dollar car. If that price is too steep for you (priced a Porsche lately?). Then you need to work your way up some more.
Leave your obvious preference for European cars that were great but now are eclipsed by American cars. The M and the AMG cars have less performance, are more expensive, and do not even offer manual transmissions. Probably due to the aging population that will still buy these cars that have not kept in shape to use their left foot and right hand while driving. There is an unmistakable visceral driving experience that the CT5V brings that even the original overhead-cammed Euro motors cannot compare to the forced induction American push rods. Arguably, the Tesla, namely the Plaid blows away any exotic European supercar. If only Elon would instead trade the whoopie cushion noise for some push rod v 8 rumble.

Totally disagree. The ICE has had no true innovation to cut down emissions and fuel economy. New tech has been here and they have slowed played it. Look at smart phones and computers. Pushing the tech period. GM is lost in all it's designs hence the low sales numbers.

One of the best new car on the road. The only real drawback is how insanely overpriced the options are.

If you don’t regularly charge the battery for the electric motor: the mpg goes down and is probably worse than a standard non-hybrid as you are moving a heavy electric motor and battery. But you can’t get stranded like with an EV if you cannot find a compatible and serviceable network charger.
You should have said that you were looking for one of these. My dealership in Nashville had one two months ago when my wife and I went to look at the pre-production Lyriq that was visiting. Blue, three pedals, all the fixin's. In fact I had my wife sit in it since as you know, she has a dual mentality about cars where she is all about the EV sustainable future and yet has a bad side where she secretly loves high horsepower shift-your-own gears driving. You should have seen the look on her face when I told her to look down at her feet.

You’re missing the point. It doesn’t matter that the EV will be faster. Anyone with a fast EV gets bored of it quickly, Because in the rear world, 0-60 in 2.0 seconds means nothing. This Cadillac has 2 things that are key: driver engagement through the manual transmission, and the most glorious exhaust sound you can buy. This car evokes passion simply starting and idling it in your garage, waiting at a red light, downshifting in a school zone, or when going to get groceries. No EV can do that.

Vehicles like this one make me confident that I understand how cowboys felt after they saw the first automobile.
I'm also confident that because of cars like this, or the GR Corolla, or even the spate of extremely capable off-road trucks on sale now, that there is no "marketplace." There are the engineers at automakers who are geniuses and love engines and want to build them, the public that wants such vehicles, and the academia/media/government/ngo overlords which hate all of us and want us to be chained to electric outlets no more than 150 miles from whatever charging station. Seriously, why would anybody buy an electric car based on anything other than price? They are all the same in every other way. There are only so many ways to have a touchscreen or a sunroof, and how expensive can it be to give every car luxury vegan faux leather seats? This whole world is retarded.

Regarding the non-stop EV dialog, can't we just ignore it? Each time the subject is mentioned we buy into it a little bit more. Reject it! Besides, people are starting to wake up to how absurd the idea is, as Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) mentioned to Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg at a hearing 1 or 2 Tuesdays ago: "Numbers are important. It would take four times as much electricity to charge the average household's cars as the average household uses on air conditioning." That's a true statement, and it really crystallizes how nonsensical these Great Reset people are.

Ugh this car. I never TD it but in my adventure of buying my trophy car. I TD the M5, Comp, E63, 911, bought the LC500 but i had my eye on this. None were avail to test add to that the dealers almost laughed at me when i wanted to test it. And see what happened.

Passenger cars make up such a small percentage of emissions, it's a joke to even keep it as a problem in the conversation.
And electric vehicles are such a joke as a solution to the problem. You to re-engineer the entire infrastructure of even a medium-sized city, one. Two, all electric vehicles, they don't even sell that high in quantity to deserve all the press they're getting.
EVs are a political ploy. The government doesn’t have a solution to the infrastructure issue to supply the required power yet they’re pushing the sale of the cars. Go figure.
Nice review. You are right that Cadillac went cheap with a strut front suspension on their flagship performance vehicle. Typical GM bean counters at work justifying their lucrative salaries. I do think white on black is the best combo. It's timeless.

I give you credit for knocking some things on the car. Other youtubers and media are to afraid to say anything bad against any vehicle they get from the press fleet for fear of being blacklisted. Then not being able to get a fleet car for review for at least a year.

I hate to sound harsh. Grow up. If you want bright "look at me" colors on your car. Buy a Dodge. But, if you want to be a mature adult, get a subdued color car. Also, stop nit picking the prices. If you compare the price against a BMW, the Cadillac is 30 grand cheaper with ALL the options. "It's not a fast car." You have jokes, right. Kelly Blue Book raced the Blackwing head to head against a C8 on their U-Drag race series. The Blackwing won. Someone else ran it against a new Redeye Challenger. The Blackwing won. BTW If you don't "track" your car. The Carbon Ceramic brakes will last you 100,000 miles. Far mor miles than the typical Blackwing buyer will put on their car. When I bought mine I checked EVERY box. Because that is what you do when you "worked" your way up to a 100 thousand dollar car. If that price is too steep for you (priced a Porsche lately?). Then you need to work your way up some more.
Leave your obvious preference for European cars that were great but now are eclipsed by American cars. The M and the AMG cars have less performance, are more expensive, and do not even offer manual transmissions. Probably due to the aging population that will still buy these cars that have not kept in shape to use their left foot and right hand while driving. There is an unmistakable visceral driving experience that the CT5V brings that even the original overhead-cammed Euro motors cannot compare to the forced induction American push rods. Arguably, the Tesla, namely the Plaid blows away any exotic European supercar. If only Elon would instead trade the whoopie cushion noise for some push rod v 8 rumble.

Totally disagree. The ICE has had no true innovation to cut down emissions and fuel economy. New tech has been here and they have slowed played it. Look at smart phones and computers. Pushing the tech period. GM is lost in all it's designs hence the low sales numbers.
