- I flew my Beechcraft Debonair from the Lake Tahoe, Nevada (KMEV) to San Francisco Bay Area (KRHV) for the weekend!
This was my first real trip in Debi, and was so fun to bring along my partner Mark and little sister Kelsey. We had a beautiful arrival into San Jose, stayed the night at her partner's house in Los Gatos, and went to a show up in the city.
The next day we packed up and left early to get back to Lake Tahoe for an early Fathers Day celebration. Being able to fly an airplane opens up the country and makes you able to explore in a whole new way.
I hope you enjoy this VLOG as much as I did filming it :)

Not only a stellar pilot, but a very patient babysitter. Whoa.
Beautiful flight.
I remember, as a kid, watching planes come over us while we in the north parking lot of Eastridge Shopping Center.
What a great trip! The facial impression of the rear passenger during turbulence was priceless :)
As a new pilot, I love that you speak everything you are doing.
I like how you talk to yourself through all the checklist, even though you have passengers that don’t understand what you’re doing
Even on Microsoft Flight sim it is like speaking a 2nd language. lol
I’m the first NorCal controller! Nice job!
no way that’s awesome! thanks for helping us get to Reid-Hillview 🤙🏼
Congrats on not strangling your passengers. And good job on ignoring them and concentrating on your checklist.
Wow-Two things near and dear to me ?! I love the Sierra Mountains and I live within a few miles of Reid Hillview Airport. What a great weekend trip you had ! Keep at it ! 💪
We used to live in Grass Valley where I flew out of Nevada County Airpark. Going over the mountains sure makes me homesick. I have flown down to RHV a few times as well. Love Los Gatos and Saratoga area! We are in Texas now…which is great, but I sure miss the mountains.
Thank you for sharing and bringing back some memories of my early days of flying in a small airplane.
Hi Hayley Herberg, I appreciate your magnificent flying in your 58 year old plane with your sister and friend to Sierra Nevada Mountains. You drove your plane so well Hayley even in the sunset. You are a skillful pilot. I love your videos
Great content, Haley! Thanks for sharing some of your flights and brief glimpses into your life! My son and daughter just graduated from UNR, and my daughter Jamison just signed a lease with her boyfriend Cutter for an apartment in Minden. I love seeing flights from the little Minden airport over Tahoe to the Bay Area. I have flight simmed it many times. We spend a couple weeks in Tahoe every summer for nearly 40 years, and my large family live in the Walnut Creek area. We’ll be together again up there next month! I’m glad I stumbled across your channel. You’re on a short list of pilots I follow, including SteveO of course 😎 Stay safe and keep up the good work ❤
Fun flight Hayley! Your sister is so funny, nervously waving at the camera on the way there and falling asleep on the way back - perfect sign that she’s comfortable flying. And, she recognized and complimented you on your landing! Thanks for taking me along 🤗
Or that white claw tall can she was sipping on takeoff finally got her🤔
Hayley is a Dream
Another great video, your editing skills are really coming along I think you are zeroing in on the perfect combination of flight instruction, scenery from the aircraft and the kind of fun that you can have as a general aviation pilot which hopefully will encourage more young kids to go out and start lessons.
Thanks for taking the time to do these videos, I know it takes a lot of work but we all appreciate it.
And finally I'll just say I'm mystified why you don't have more subscribers. I think if you keep at it though, and keep your videos at about the same length that they are now, and just keep doing what you're doing, at some point you'll probably see an explosion of subscribers. Thanks again.
Thankyou for such kind words!! I really liked making this type of video- including a blend of both technical flying and the lifestyle general aviation can bring :) I'm glad you enjoyed it and looking forward to filming more like this.
Your sister making The Sign of the Cross before takeoff made me smile. I enjoy your content and admire your piloting skills. Nice airplane and I’m very excited for you as you travel down that path of upgrading your instrument panel!
Wonderful trip. A little bouncy to start. That's 60s song, whatever it's called, is such a good closing.
Flying into KRHV...ah the memories. I learned how to fly out of RHV way, way back in 1972. Did my Commercial training at KSEE, in 1974.
Good jobs with procedures & checki list! I'm doing my PPL training and seeing you enjoying the flight gives me more motivation. Thank you for sharing. G
Great flight and beautiful scenery. Really enjoy watching you work through your checklist and flows.
sun's out - bun\s out ~
Can't wait for things to be affordable again!
Since when has General Aviation ever been affordable? lol
Great and fun flight and video Hayley! I love how you set the perfect example doing your checklists and keeping centered on the runway centerlines! Several years ago I had a fun visit at Minden and was able to thermal up from there in an Ask 21 glider until we could see Lake Tahoe over the mountain range. First a sliver of water and later the whole lake. Then entered wave and watched the altimeter wind up and felt no movement. Amazing. Like just sitting there! Would love to do that again!
Beautiful debonair! Looks well maintained and kept clean. Love the sunset reflections on the paint from the wingtip cam. It’s good form that you didn’t cut performing the checklists. Very professional. Keep making great videos!
You have a real knack for crafting beautiful video's, Hayley. Music choices make your vids stand out. Please keep making these.
We’re getting ready for “Debby” here in Florida. Wish I were with you and your DEBI!!
Always enjoy your vids... but really liked this one as I live a few miles away (in the foothills) from Reid Hillview. I usually get lots of the aircraft flying over my place (bordering Alum Rock Park) as they head North/NE from Reid Hillview. Fun stuff!!! Boy, 45 min flight definitely Beats my 4 hour drive to get from SJ to Reno!!! haha
Perfect pilotage. Dude in the right seat is your next student.
Love your videos - they are lovely and so relaxing! Thank you for making and sharing your flying journey 🤗
Haylley hi from Alberta, Canada. Very impressive piloting skills. Your Debonair is in beautiful condition, I can see how the previous yoke could be troublesome the replacements are a great improvement look awesome. Thanks for the flight over the Sierra Nevada's especially on such a stellar evening.
Great little flight and video. The way Kelsey's eyes popped from the wing dip, you need to take her up when the Sierra wave is really blowing. Grew up in Bishop and Dad owned a Cessna 172xp. We were returning from Porterville through Olancha Pass one day and basically got flipped, like being flushed down a toilet bowl. Once we broke out of the turbulence we stayed really low up the east side of the Owens Valley. Not a fun flight that day.
Hi Hayley , nice video, great job and a pleasure running into you at the fuel pump in Carson today. Keep up the good work. 😀
As soon as I saw Kelsey smile, I thought that's gotta be her sister. Strong resemblance. :)
Learned to fly @KRHV in 1995. Back then, we could go over to KSJC and work the pattern when 30R/12L was a GA runway and there was still a large GA presence there. Different world now.
A throw-over yoke! Cool!
Nice hat on your sister! Especially from the wing view, , Just appeared out of nowhere😂😂😂
No yoke on the sic side? When you do the ferry flights from london, I'm 40 min from there, we don't have scenery like this up here!
Hayley…..I love your lifestyle and where you live and also your beautiful Bonanza. I am envious. Fly up to beautiful Joseph, Oregon and see us. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice! Makes me nostalgic for my Beech Musketeer.😢
Enjoy the weekend and thanks for sharing your flight
Nice flight Hayley, and good job reassuring the “rowdy crew”! That was a butter landing. The throwover yoke is a great mod to Debi. I can see how the bar was blocking part of your console. Is this Debi’s original yoke or did you have to source the part?
Congrats on your first night landing. It’s great to see you have some fun exploring in your own plane.
Thankyou!! I had to source the part- the last owner unfortunately did not hold onto it
Pretty good size family, Hayley. Like a Pro with the take off and landing.
That was lovely. Hope your sis felt better about flying after her trip...
What a gorgeous flight. Keep the content coming please 😎
Congratulations on Debbie. Love your videos!!
Fun! Little sister is so spunky and cute!
1. For flight following out of KMEV, try Oakland Center 127.95.
2. Next upgrade: shoulder straps.
I did actually just install them! Checkout the newer videos got the BAS :)
Thanks for the music of Joshua Hyslop!
Kelsey: "i think I'm gonna be sick" 😂
Very well done...Love it😎
Good morning from Minnesota! Great episode! Fun trip!
Haley thanks for sharing your nice flight with us
Beautifully Done. The View amazing!!!!
What a great trip! Lil sis looked like she might have had a “little too much milk and cookies” the night before the return flight, it happens, been there myself a couple times. Keep up the good work kiddo, really enjoy your content in Debbie.
You going to Oshkosh next month?
Wonderful flight Hayley and a nice plane to be almost old as me.
It’s not about checklists or FARs, it’s about common sense and experience.
Alcohol and airplanes never mix well.
Your job is to mitigate risk and doing that can sometimes be unpopular.
The hardest part of a pilot’s job is saying the word “no.”
Try Hollister airport if you go south bay, crossing runway make sure you can land in case of high winds.
That plane has amazing invisibility through all that glass
Aren't you confusing it with Wonder Woman's airplane?
:D
amazing flight ..Thanks for the Fly along Love iT
Sissy is Zonked!!
Good grief. Everything about this video is beautiful.
Hi Hayley, enjoy watching your videos. I'd fly with you. Rh
Such awesome mountain views I only wish those views were unobstructed….
So many videos like yours focus on cockpit angles and I WISH for a GoPro looking down and forward paying full tribute to the beautiful mountain ranges below!
If you include that I’ll like and subscribe 1000 times over..how abOUT it??!?? Thank you thank you thank you!!!
Good job on the flight. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Hayley. I live in Saratoga Springs development off Stephanie Way just north of the airport. Wave as you fly by sometime. Video just came up and also lived and worked in San Jose around the Reid-Hillview airport years ago. Nice evening flight.
is the guy your boyfriend? Is he a pilot also? Great flight. My goodness, the scenery was unbelievable. Thanks for sharing.
Great vid Hayley!
another nice video thanks
nice set down!
We used to fly out of Reed Hill View all the time. We were members of the Flying Club and got our pilot license there. Flying over the shopping mall on Final is always a heart beat skipper.
When I was in the Air Force in 1972 I took flying lessons at Reid-Hillview. One of the guys I worked with almost landed on the roof of the shopping mall by using full flaps on final.
Hi Hayley nice plane you got there 🫶🏼🌺🥰
That was an awesome flight thanks for sharing ❤
Nice to ride around with you. Thanks for sharing. Thumbs up 👍
Boy that's a really cool house!
I think i saw you take off😊
Need the Rosen Visor Kit and a pair of Raycraft headsets for your passengers!!!
Driving in the left lane while not passing. Ultimate driving pet peeve.
Great content 👍👍👍
Wright rudder a nice plug for the Bros.
Sweet!
Thanks for sharing
Very nice Hayley. Predicting subscriptions will rise.
Yup with more bathing suit thumbnails….🤷🏻♂️
Great content .Best yet
Hello from RHV....
Very good video. Nice airplane 🎸
So be friendly the next time a 50.something guy gives you the eye. Old things still produce.😊
Hotness.
My left air loved this video 😂. Ps great editing of excess noise/voices😉😉😎
Ps sorry for some of these thirsty comments . Some of you guys need to grow up. You’re close to 50 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤷♂️
I need to look into this! I believe it's because my Debi's audio is being recorded like that for some reason. Will try and get it balanced
Hayley!Good evening. you mad esuperb ~ sleep well.
Cool video. Stay safe.
Missed the callouts. What’s your altitude? No oxygen needed?
Nice job Hayley. I took careful notes and now I know how to fly a Debonair! I'm going to buy your sister and mate new headsets. Would Bose A30's work for them?
lol been looking into the Bose A30s they look so comfy!
@@FlywithHayley Your passengers will love you. Keep on having fun.
Okay so it's beginning to make sense to me now.
Probable cause Dan Gryder is watching so don't mess up
AN-124 @ 13:48
Aerodynamic lifestyle. How do you mange time and expenses? What do you focus on when you are not in the Air flying?
Why is the dope in the copilpt seat filming vertically??? Who still doesnt know that you should film horoZonta1.
Your passenger covering his mic with his hand is odd, because it distorts his voice. I’m very curious as to why he does this. Former fighter pilot trying to replicate the sound of a mic inside the oxygen mask?
And you need to train him to not adjust the sunshades without asking permission of the PIC!
Hayley, marry me!!! I’d be like really really really good to you!! 😍😘
Hey there. Pretty good video. Maybe a little less commentary. I’d like to know what kind of cameras and mounts you use. I have a Mooney but don’t look nearly as telegenic as you do🤓. Keep the blue side up!
If you need a professional photographer to accompany you, I'm willing and eager to learn. As an added bonus, the last time I had a yoke or stick in my hands was probably 50 years ago, but I have a good memory... though for most of my "hours" I was too small to reach the rudder pedals 🙂
