Hi Nathan! Thanks so much for the comment and feedback! I truly appreciate that! I’m very glad that you thought the video/explanation was great! This is one that I originally created for my physical therapy clients so I try to include everything I can to set them up for success! Thanks again for sharing your feedback :)

Can you please tell me what FA IR stand for (in the title of the video)? Thank you!

Thanks for the message, this is a great question! "FAIR" stands for "femur on acetabulum internal rotation", which is just a short way of saying that your thigh bones are spun inwards (causing your feet to be further apart). Hope that helps! :)

Do you hold your tension in your obliques the whole time after that first exhale? I feel like its difficult to do the second exhale because im still hplding from the first one

Thank you for the message and the great question! Here is how I like to coach it: when you exhale fully your obliques will naturally engage on their own at the end of the exhale. I like to have people pay attention to that natural contraction and WITHOUT adding to it simply try to not to LOSE it as they inhale *slowly*. The slow inhale is very key. Breathing like this is particularly difficult for people that struggle with using their breath to aid in spine decompression. This breathine being difficult is usually a sign that it is even more important for that person to practice! Hope that helps :)

Is it correct that you will keep the knees elevated by an inch while performing the breathing exercise?

Thanks for the question! You’re 100% correct! Your knees will stay slightly elevated the entire time :). Hope that helps!

Hello. Could you explain what this exercise is for, and who should use it.

This exercise is great for various reasons. However, I find it extremely useful for people that need some lumbar decompression to take a load off their low back and for people who need to learn to breathe or breathe in a way that aids or assists in spine decompression. While there are other benefits, I find those are the biggest ones for me!
