    Which do you think is better, the Tilta hydra alien mini or the Mov Max?

      I do not touched MovMax, but watched plenty reviews and they are very similar products. For both you need a damper to use it with DJI Pocket 3.
      Vaxis (MovMax company) have their own dumper for the arm. For Hydra Mini I tested insta360 dumper and it works like a charm.
      Hydra Alien Mini has 100g higher maximum payload so if you plan to mount bigger camera this one will be in theory better (but insta360 dumper supports cameras up to 250g).
      Hydra Alien Mini also have an option for electronic suction cup. MovMax has only manual one.

      This week I should post my thoughts and more sample footage on this with Action 5 Pro
      and DJI Pocket 3
      Probably two separate videos.
      I just spend 3h experimenting :D

      @@JoATTech btw, can’t wait to see how something a bit heavier works on this. My guess is the ZV-E1 will probably be decently stable at lower speeds/smooth roads, but likely see it struggle on adverse paths.
      Does tilta arm seem to accommodate larger body/tried it in a bench test or anything? I know this arm has a lower spec weight, but hoping to find you can stretch those margins a bit if you take it easy/don’t push limits 🤞🤞

      @@kernzilla I would try ZV-E10 II or OM-5, but I need some mount to compare it to "bare" suction cup. So I guess I would order tiltas plate(s) for the suction cap to swap it with the Hydra mini one. They are $32, so not that expensive, although in EU there are ~€50 :(.
      Although I kinda doubt it would be great. But hard to tell, OM-5 stabilization (IBIS + electronic) is very impressive, so maybe no need for the arm.

      such as sony zv e10 camera

      I plan to do it with ZV-E10 II, but first I need a suction cup that allows me to install the camera directly to the car. So I have to buy Tilta's other suction cup or just universal plate or nato plate for their suction cap.
      That way I can compare the footage with the arm and without the arm.
      I guess this will happen next month if the weather allows to do it :D.

    Try and add weight to the front for better stability. P3 may be too light and bounce more.

    • @JoATTech
      @JoATTech  Месяц назад

      I'm using included 220g weight.
      And my Action 5 Pro has metal cage so it's quite heavy.
      P3 is a different story :D.

    you're right about the lack of non-suction mounting options. going to have to get creative doing an arri-rosette to super-clamp type of setup, but not a lot of native options out there for this particular mounting config.
    the footage from bumpy road looks really clean, wow; similar tests i've watched from similar mounts like the MovMax seem to introduce a bit more of those wobbles than this Tilta one. very glad to see this👌 for the money, seems like good piece of kit to have, and honestly look forward to using it for walking/handheld footage as well, seems like it would do a pretty decent job in that regard as well. under $200 for z-axis stabilization not a bad deal at all!

      re: hamdheld mount, been thinking about how to attach phone/monitor to this Alien Mini; are there any common accessory screw holes or nato rails on the arm anywhere for things like this?

    • @JoATTech
      @JoATTech  Месяц назад +1

      After 3 days of testing I've been able to eliminate the jello effect almost completely (like 99.5%)
      I have to do some more testing tomorrow and I hope there the review with Pocket 3 will be live this Sunday
      Bad news is Tilta scrapped the handlebar mount :(, their rep told me it was only prototype and it never went to mass production ... shame, because it might be really hard to find a conversion from 25mm rosette to any handlebar mount :(.

    • @JoATTech
      @JoATTech  Месяц назад

      You can mount the phone with a cage, most cages have 1/4-20 holes, so you can use this "universal" plate to do it.

      @@JoATTech sorry, meaning phone/monitor as field monitor for Pocket 3 mounted to main arm. after looking thru handful of photos of it, it doesn't look like there is a great way to attach a field monitor. figured the official handle for it would have at least a cold shoe or nato rail or something, but doesn't look like it.

      @@JoATTech that's pretty incredible to have most of jello eliminated! end up having to get creative with adding soft mounts/moon gel etc to get the vibes out? i think i'm leaning towards adding the MovMax isolation mount to mine once it arrives, those float mounts have always treated me well in the past with micro-vibes.
