It's a pity such sweet presentations get little views compared to other less helpful ones

At what point can you say a drug has failed before switching to another antipsychotic? How much of it should you give? Say for example Risperidone.

that is a tricky question. I would trust what your doctor thinks but definatley advocate for your concerns with them! I was on Risperidone myself for many years and it ended up being the wrong medicine. I also was intitially put on too low a dose which can also be a reason it seems to fail. I can't believe how well I am doing now. I used to experience psychosis at regular intervals and much mania, and now all I ever get is depression and some anxiety which feels like a tremendous step ahead for me. I have been on psychiatric medications since the year 2000. Risperdal, or Rsiperidone is an atypical antipsychotic. Because it made my psychosis less than it intitially was the doctor decided it worked for me. When I needed to swtich to a new antiphsychotic, I was put on Abilify. Abilify has kept me from being psychotic for 20 years now, except some psychosis occurred when I had to change my mood stabilizer in 2019, but that was more because of the mood stabilizer. It is very complicated and I am not a doctor. What I do know is the successes I have had are successes you or your loved one can experience if they stay the course of treatment and follow doctor's orders while advocating for their concerns and needs. There is no magic bullet or best medicine anyone can just recommned. I do not know if Abilify would work for you as it does for me. But I do believe you can get to a much better place. You can thrive! Good luck.
