I was born in rural Sweden and grew up with skiing and nature. I remember starry nights, the northern lights and the sound of the ice. The sound can be terrifying if it explodes nearby. Now I live in the city and then you don't experience that anymore. Thanks Dani for making me remember. 🙂
...with ORION in the background... That was awesome Last night at an late evening temperature of 28 Celsius I was looking at ORION from Australia almost at the Zenith, sitting there in my shorts and T shirt... quite the contrast to your night on the ice.
The explanation for the sounds is that when water freezes it contracts and when it warms it expands. This expantion and contraction creates tension in the ice which creates cracks. The cracks themselves are then filled with water and so on. That´s why the ice makes a lot more sounds when there is large tmperature differences :)
My wonderful squirrel calender '25 is already hanging on the wall...thank you for sharing your life with us in such a calm and caring way, Dani .I don't have the opportunity to be out in nature much - and since squirrels (and owls) are my favorite animals i really enjoy each of the videos very very much. The amused manner you and your lovely partner were reacting to the coffee "explosion" is telling😊. You're special. Take care and all the best from Berlin. 🎄
I,m in my 50s & as the years go by , it gets harder & harder for me to get into the Christmas spirit , but however I do like shopping on line for my family & friends & I do love to see them all open their gifts when I give them to them , it lets me know that I did a good job shopping when I see their eyes light up & smiles come across their faces & I,m a giving type of guy .
Je suis toutes vos vidéos et j'ai particulièrement apprécié celle ci pour l'intérêt des sujets abordés et la qualité de votre travail qui évolue sans cesse .Merci.
I love the sounds of ice forming as well as breaking up. While ice fishing, in Minnesota, I have experienced the ice literally cracking between my feet, the crack continuing across/through the hole and onto only God knows where. It can be an eerie feeling but I'm in my eight decade so it hasn't gotten me yet. I now live where little ice ever forms over the water and I miss the popping and cracking. I am enjoying all of your videos, especially the squirrel forest. Thank you for sharing your experiences. Merry Christmas
Hi Dani! The ice makes noise all the time regardless of whether it's colder or warmer outside. When it gets milder outside, the ice makes a sound and then because the ice gets weaker, the same when it gets colder, the ice swells and it makes a sound even then, because the ice moves within the area where there is ice. It's just like when you put ice cubes in a glass, so heating the air causes the ice cubes to crack and then a sound is heard. The same if you were to put a microphone in the freezer next to a bowl of water, so when the ice forms, it also sounds like pops when the ice swells. You and your guy live where the sun still shines. Personally, I live up north in the city of Kiruna and since 8/12 we have had polar winter up here, which means that no sun is visible, it only gets light at 09:30 and gets dark at 12:30. That is until 8/ 1 it is so when the sun again looks up over the horizon
That first drone shot of the snow on the trees is just breathtaking 💙 so beautiful. The sounds of the ice 🧊 very cool. My wife believes it sounds like her stomach after dinner lol 😆. Thanks for the sharing Dani
You have dialed in your videos to just perfection. In fact, I always check thumbs up before even watching I'm just that sure it is going to be superb. Tack !
Your videos are so nice and relaxing. This one was particularly so. Your world is beautiful . Thank you for sharing it . I hoped I'd see Roo as one of those 3 squirrels in your garden . Ever see him again ? Merry Christmas !
In German. Hallo Dani. Christmas Dancing von James Last. Ich höre das Album seit 45 Jahren jedes Weihnachtsfest.
I love your video of the squirrel forest and the deer! There is a wonderful woman who lives in far northern Sweden named Jonna Jinton who has made a few "raw ice music" videos between one hour and ten hours and she just released a CD and album so I bought the CD. Love your train and track around your tree too. It's not that I'm a grinch but December 25 is a Pagan holiday and celebration. I could explain to you about the strange winter weather but it isn't good so I won't. Thanks for another wonderful video Dani! It's always great to see Juan get in an appearance too.
Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 to you, your loved ones, to squirrels, deers, to the snow that forms & melts, to those who care for plastic Xmas trees and some wonderful, breathtaking visual reality captured in your camera supported by great background music...what a wonderful channel this is..LLAP
Thank you for another charming video. Have a wonderful Christmas and new year. I love your dedication and work in bringing us these wonderful scenes Dani. Stay safe and warm this winter
The sound of the ice is both beautiful and scary. I live in Alaska and all of the snow in my town has nearly melted as well. Thanks for sharing another amazing vlog..❤
Really enjoy your narration, and your photography is superb! Happy Holidays to you, your friends and family! Model train around the tree is exactly what I remember doing with my father, when I was young, many decades ago. I still have some of those toy trains, I got them working a few years ago with newer track. They’re set up now for Christmas. Now my grandson can break them! 😂 Good luck with your channel, I subscribed years ago, it’s wonderful content!
Many years ago I was in northern Alberta Canada and heard sounds like that - ice forming and changing. The weather is so strange and unpredictable these days. As I type this a good friend of mine is trying desperately to save his house from a horrible fire just north of Los Angeles. All of this has to be having a profound affect on the wildlife. As always, thanks for a great video!
You are one of the few people in the world through whom I vicariously live my life. Your beauty, combined with the breathtaking beauty you capture in nature, creates an experience that feels almost magical. The sights and sounds you share, the wonders of nature you unveil, and even the imagined scents and textures of the places you explore transport me to a realm of grand splendor. Through your lens, I feel connected to the majesty of the world in ways I can only dream of experiencing firsthand. Your artistry brings life to the smallest details and reminds me of the extraordinary in the ordinary. Thank you for sharing your passion, your vision, and your light with us. It’s a gift I cherish deeply. Merry Christmas and a Happy, Blessed, and Safe New Year to you and yours!
We live on a small inland lake in Northern Michigan and have gotten to experience those sounds too when there are temperature swings or the sun starts to shine on it in the early morning hours. The area you so nicely share with all of us is more beautiful then where we are at , thank you .
Yet a beautiful video Dani! I have never heard the sound of the ice before. And I like that You have a train running around your tree, as I'm a railfan. Merry Christmas!
Dear DANI , I wish you a very very happy Christmas and a very very happy New year I do hope all your dreams and wishes come true for you your brilliant from David ps your really great 👍👍👍👍👍your brilliant
Lovely footage. Very calming. Great in 4k, well worth using that. I have just got a laptop with 4k, so I can appreciate it. 🙂 Re the second-hand train, you need to clean the tracks. There is a eraser type block which you can manually run along the tracks, or you can get a carriage with an attachment. It will run much smoother and no sparks. 🙂

Jonna Jinton is a Swedish artist and musician who has recorded the sounds of the ice forming. She has a RUclips channel and her album is on Spotify.
That clip of you on the lake with the lantern is fabulous.
The Photographic composition in Dani's videos are simply stunning! And this one is amazing. This channel just gets better and better!
One of the best!

hello Dear, I Usually love your comments, how are you doing today? 🌺 🌺 🌹
Love these videos, they are always so calm. Also the wildlife and nature shots are 🔥
We use to say that the ice is singing, (sjunger) when it´s expandig.
Delightful, as always. So great to peek into your happy lives.
I have walked on ice, skied on ice, snowmobiled on ice, even driven a truck on ice. I have never heard those sounds. Thanks for bringing it to us.
The most magical creation is a squirrel. Love your channel. In Roo We Trust ❤

It's exactly the opposite. Ice floats because it is lighter than water.

Get some " havre kross " from Granngården to the roe deers . They love it . or Renfor . And did you get some load of fire wood for this winter ?
I think the ice sound can definitely be used in another movie.
not too many sunflower seeds, as they will give squirrels fatty liver syndrome.
a small handful per week, per squirrel
Very cozy😢😢😢
Yeah, we had very cold temps and snow a few days ago, and now it's raining and warming up a lot tonight.
