This Channel is all about drum education and inspiration.
Video's shared for my passion for the art of drumming of Dr. Steve Gadd.
Unbelievable man, it sounds crazy 🤪🤪🤪✨✨👍🏻 🥁✨✨
Your feel is amazing nobody seems to play with touch tone dynamics lost art
Brilliant work as always. Never knew he used a Diplomat and will be trying this on my 400. Thanks 🙏
Thnx Paul! You will be surprised!
@@RubenvanRoonDrumChannelOk, I’ve finally fitted an Evans 200 to my Supraphonic and so far, so good. Needs playing in and maybe a bit more tension (I’m a bit scared to over tighten it) but it’s sounding nice. Interestingly, the reso head I changed it for was a Ludwig 300 with an orange logo on it. It can’t be original (the drum is a ‘73/‘74) but it must have been pretty old.
Thanks again for all the great content you’re putting out 👍
Best video !!
Thanks for sharing
It's fantastic
Thank you!🙏🏿
Love it !! ..love your playing style ..very clean and musical ..letting it breath mature nice !! .. explain things nicely I can tell you’ve been doing this a long time. God bless you brother.
great video! and your english is fabulous! such good info on the diplomat fiberskyn! thanks man
Excellent video and explanation! Thank you for being so considerate, I was one of those who requested this video. From Argentina, hug and thank you!!
Yes made it for you!;)
Thank you for these great tips 😊
Enjoyed watching this video. Keep groovin' the passion 👍👍
Thanks 👍
Great video sir as usual!! 🥁👍🏼
Thanks for this. Great information
Keep up the english, your doing a pretty good job.
I subscribed because i like ya
This was the first time ive ever seen you or one of your videos
I learned this from Jj cales drummer James Cruce reg Supra coated dip top dip bottom I added 42 wires killer can’t hit off center
Thanks Ruub! I wonder why Steve didn’t asked Yamaha to build him an aluminium snaredrum. I wonder if you know which models where the wooden snaredrum on the Grover Washington Jr. live concert and the steel snaredrum on the In Session video (shure it was 6,5” deep?). Thanks. Your snaredrum sounds great. Very articulate wire sound like Steve. 👌🏼
Lekker soundje Ruben.
Dank
Nice video!
Damn i love that fat puffy 70s snare can we replicate that with maple or other metal snare like brass ?
yes with the right drumhead and muffler and touch! every snare can sound like this;)
I love you bro. I'd love to just jam with you Steve gadd is the best.and you are a great drummer.
9:37 Steve with 3 rack toms. 👍
god forbid Lol Gadd will use what ever to make it work
You look like the village watchmaker with those glasses
Haha ...👍
You nailed it. It always blows my mind that he used a Fiberskyn batter. After a while, the laminate on top starts to bubble up! The Evans version, the Calftone, did the same thing when I tried it. Maybe the secret lies in the thinner snare side. Great video, and I really loved the photos of his kits, especially @ 9:37. What the heck is going on there?! That must be the Sadao Watanabe kit because you can hear the 8" tom on some of those live tracks. Weird to see a Gadd with with three racks. Thanks Ruben.
Thank you!! And so true thst is the sadao drumkit!!
hello Ruben, didn't Steve used chrome over brass supra, 70/80's??
I dont think so maybe in 70th but the badge is same as mine and I believe there was no chrome over brass anymore
Does Steve use pinstripes in this era for the Toms or was it the evans heads ?
evans till 1981 and then Pinstripe
you tune the snare as I do, but after recording mine sound different....🤔
Ok will send you a video what is your email?
Let me save you some time; keep top and bottom heads loose, throw a towel on top and call it a day
Great option... but I try to explain how Mr Gadd tuned and make his snare sound;)
Strange distorted sound with a weird tone here
That is the Gadd Sound!!;)
It sounds very much like Gadd’s snare drum. I have to be honest (don’t shoot me) and say that I’ve never liked the sound of Steve Gadd’s snare drum. 🙄
Put a wet blanket on it. Problem solved.
What problem?😀
@@RubenvanRoonDrumChannel The problem of not having your snare sound like Steve Gadd's. Were you dropped on your head as a kid?
@@dannymayday7106 Why do you need to be disrespectful? Are you terribly insecure? You’d come over as less noxious if you understood the intent behind irony and took a course on over, or under inflated ego. It’s not your preferred sound. Try saying that without the insults. You’ll feel much better about yourself and other people!
I think if Gadd played any other drummers snare Tuned to their likeing It would sound like Steve's snare .His touch of hitting skins would pull out his sound .Touchhhhhhhhhh and Tuff as nails are Gadds hand abbiliy .
