can you really use an ESR meter to check capacitors while still IN CIRCUIT ..... thanks
Yes.
Can you test with only a dmm or possibly an Arduino with an external adc? How about one of those cheap multi testers?
You can test capacitance with a multimeter, but not ESR or parallel leakage. There are some cheap devices that will test for ESR, though.
