Just started my channel around my 6.5, not alot of content for them but at the same time im thankful for the ones like you that exist. You've already helped a ton 🤘🏻

If you change out the electronic components on the bottom of PMD, the two big transistors. Which are super cheap. The two silver dollar looking buttons on the bottom it usually fixes the problem. Lots of times they just need to be re-soldered for good contact. If replacements are needed there are part numbers on the transistors for matching. Try it out, I fixed two PMD's by doing it. Good luck.you should be pleasantly surprised

Owned my '99 GMC 6.5 for twenty years and can commiserate!
Relocated the PMD to the driver's side fender only for ease of replacement, but that's the only reason.
In my experience they almost always fail in warm to hot weather and I keep a spare in the truck although I've seen them last a few years without incident. Very puzzling. Each time they just shut the truck off almost always in drive (automatic) at an idle!
I've even thought about placing a small cooling fan next to it. Lol
Other than that, it pulls good and gets about 13 mpg even though it's in a bucket truck and is pretty heavy. Subsequently it sees a lot of idling and in the summer I keep the hood up when using the bucket.
If someone ever designs a bullet-proof pmd there will be dancing in the streets!

When my previous PMD went out the truck just went crazy.
I had noticed the weeks before that it had a tendency to jolt the rpm when idiling.
And then all of a sudden while driving around a corner the PMD just floored the throttle for 2-3 seconds. Luckely there is not to much power 6.5 but if it had happened on a icy or dirt road it could have been really scary.😬
This went on for about an hour before the throttle just died (no respons).
And this was also the time I learned the hard way to have a spare PMD. 😄

When I eventually burn through my pmd, I’m taking the 4911 DB2 setup off my 93 engine and getting a stand-alone controller for my 4l80.

I'm with ya on the ease of access if/when a PMD will give out. So, I mounted one complete relocation kit in each bumper hole. If current one fails, it gets unplugged at the IP and the other harness plugs right in. Probably close to 10 years without an issue but backup is available. And we all know how that goes, if you got it you won't need it but if you don't, you will. 😁

The last PMD I bought was from Pensacola Diesel. I think it was manufactured by Flight Systems. That was ten years ago. I don’t daily my ‘99 Burb anymore but it was a quality unit and still does great when I do take it out. I have a new Stanadyne in the console just in case. I had the dealer remove it from the new pump that was installed due to seal degradation from low sulfur fuel. Always run a fuel conditioner with the modern low sulfur fuels.

So why has anyone tried to get with someone and make a pcb board using one of the bad ones and make it so it can be fixed on the fly

A manual is the only way to go. I've been working on these since 1993. 94 had 2 different pumps 95 to 2000or 02. Using a remote harness and behind the frt bump seems to last alot longer

Hello , I see in your comment your have a of experience with these 6.5 's .. I have a 1994 gmc suburban 2500 6.5 TD . It is a phone co. Fleet truck and is a High output engine version . But it's been well maintained it's whole life. But the pmd keeps going bad and it's been relocated to front bumper. I have used everything from Amazon cheap kit to $400 relocation kit. But the pmd keep burning out faster and faster and now it only last a week and goes bad. Love this truck but hate this engine. Any ideas ? Greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hey Jesse, thanks for all the videos. I have a 94. It’s got a lope idle that will smooth out at about 1500 RPM. Makes it really hard to shift. Other than the lope and touchy throttle, it runs fine. Also, I have a 6’ relocation wire and I also put an after market lift pump on that runs between 15-18 PSI. You think it’s the PMD or am I running too much lift fuel pressure? Thanks.

I’m getting fuel to the injection pump just not out of it to the injectors. The fuel shut off solenoid works fine and I just replaced the PMD…what do you think the issue would be?

Great Info! Do you have any experience with A1auto pmd? The price seems good and I wonder if it is quality product or another junk part.

have you ever ran into a problem where an older timing cover didn't match up to the newer timing cover and now the the crank position sensor isn't picking up the crank

hey man I've got a question for you about an older video, I'm having some optical sensor troubles and I'm trying to figure them out, I've already pulled and cleaned the sensor, and I'm running diesel kleen through it too, but its still doing it. I also had noticed that in my injection pump whatever the OS mounts on moves, should that be that way?

Nice video! Hi from Madrid, Spain. I own a 95 6.5L Suburban. Sometimes I have error codes 17, 18 and 35 then the engine runs weird and sometimes stalls. What do you think it can be? Some times I disconnect the battery for a few minutes and after this all goes ok.

I am Not an expert but have read this :
If you have codes PO251 or PO370, 17,18 or any combination of those then you should consider the injector pump to be suspect!
If the truck over-responds to the accelerator and revs up very quickly at only light throttle or revs up on it's own then it is likely to be internal injection pump wear!
      Hope this helps!
      Recuerdos!
      Paul

What is your opinion on the wicked wheel 2 for the 6.5 and if positive how much boost can it run?
