      @@dragosg23 because most android phones control background sound somewhat which make your voice more clear while iphone does nothing so there will be too much background noise like sound from vehicles, wind, peoples talking..etc
      Its too bad for a smartphone since there is no feature in iphone that erase unwanted background noise even tho android phones could do that bit long time. Against phones like pixel 7 series, iphone mic quality is so much trash to the point pixel is like universe and iphone is like solar system. If you check videos that test mic quality you will see exactly what i am saying 🤷

      Details: iPhone definitely
      ZOOM: iPhone definitely
      Macro: Xiaomi definitely: more macro in macro and less background.
      Still Xiaomi has a great camera considering reasonable price tag.
      The reason I won't buy Xiaomi: too much ads and Spyware.

    The iPhone video and pictures bring out the highlights without losing the dynamic range which makes the photos look more dramatic, less flat. In most cases for me this looks better. I've tried tweaking photos on the pixel 7 pro but can never match the same taken with the iPhone.

    • @carlosgilpinheiro7510
      @carlosgilpinheiro7510 2 года назад +3

      But that's all software and they destroy the photos that way, they are calibrated with crazy post processing software and when we check this in a big screen their photos are tortured with over sharpening edges everywhere. The same for Pixel and their Gcam. It's obvious when we use Gcam in other atual highend phones and compare the fidelity of the photos taken with gcam and native in a screen 34 inches or more.
      IPhone is the worst highend phones
      taking photos at night, iPhone is only good managing videos due to almost none exposure oscillations but this can be the compression method and not the camera it self.

      Biggest problem is that these comparisons rarely have a good reference.
      If you had a RED or SONY camera system in the 8000-10000USD peice range, you could compare against a „real“ benchmark.
      Without context, you go for the phone camera that looks nicer or more pleasing, not the one that captures reality.
      It is a constant compaint and leads to cameras that always pretend that there is „sunshine on a cloudy day“, even when you want to capture a thunderstorm.
      So, these comparisons are and remain meaningless!

    • @colinmunro2632
      @colinmunro2632 Год назад

      @@maxking3 I can understand wanting reality from a professional point of view -: that you can then adjust the photos to create the effect you want rather than the effect the software chooses. But for most people they just want a good looking photo out of the box, and couldn't care less about reality provided the software tweaks are not too obvious on a small screen. And these companies are catering to please the masses, not the professionals.

    • @maxking3
      @maxking3 Год назад

      @@colinmunro2632 People „like me“ want to capture our memories. And if colours, moods and settings are suddenly a mile apart from what we remember then it is not a good camera, but some „your life could have looked better“ algorithm.
      To me, the iPhone Videos are often much closer to the mood of the scene - rainy day, limited lighting at a camp fire - than what my wife‘s Samsung is doing to the pictures & videos from the same night.
      I want „balanced“, instead of bright & neon!
      But you may be right - there is a whole generation now, who looks at the world whether a moment is „instagrammable“ and if it isn‘t there‘s still a Snapchat filter.
      But that should actually be a „mode“, not the default.
      And it does not take anything away from my notion that if I want to compare different „cheap“ cameras, you should have an „expensive“ one as a reference point.

    I love your low light video comparisons, especially when they include the ultrawides. Low-light ultrawide performance is THE most important feature for social dancers, since they need to take videos in very dark places, from a very close distance (hence the ultrawide) to the dancing couple they are trying to capture. If you could find even darker locations and if you could also test the focusing while recording this would be awesome!

And sensor technology also, whether microlenses are used, whether back side illumination is used etc. However, in case of the ultra-wides we are still far from the point where these kind of things are the only limiting factor IMHO. My hope is that some manufacturers start using high quality sensors with high sensitivity for the ultra wides also, coupled with optics with an F number smaller than 2. These changes alone would make a huge difference. Still, @TechTables comparison videos ROCK! :)

    I don't think the iphone is color accurate but people still say it has a better white balance when it makes pictures look greenish yellow. I don't know if that is what we refer to as white. And surprising when a phone has a proper white representation in the night mode they still give it to the iPhone because of the color of the light at that point in time. I would rather prefer the original look of the place by filtering the color of the light and giving it the natural vibe.

    At the 7:55 minute mark: Look at the lower right where it says 'Raymarina' on the boat. The sharpening or whatever happened there on the iPhone made a complete mess of the text. Same goes for the antenna on the top of the hill. Excessive sharpening does not mean more details and Apple has a bad habit of it with their latest models. Unfortunately many people, including reviewers, don't seem to know any better. They see an over sharpened image and start praising it. Thanks for the comparison, it's well done and clearly shows the advantage of the Xiaomi when it comes to natural sharpness.

    It's a hard one to decide on.
    iPhone has the advantage on it's image staying consistent, so if processing is applied, it can be easier to apply the same processing to all shots.
    The Xiaomi has a more pleasing look at times but easily gets over exposed, not so sharp so easier on the eyes and vibrant... but quickly that look becomes over processed and has quite the opposite effect to being pleasing.
    iPhone if you plan on processing your videos.
    I need it for professional filming so iPhone is better, but as a consumer I would probably prefer something that I can shot and post much easier... I want my day at the beach look bright cheery without adding any processing.
    But, if I have the time to process, I could it getting looking much much better with the iPhone

    The Iphone seems to produce steadier video when running (though, not always as we can see on 1:07, where Xiaomi wins), but on pictures like 0:39 some can clearly see that Iphone distorts colours and does too much of internal photoshoping. In fact so much that it distorts lines, dithering some details. iPhone tries to produce "juicier" picture, as on 1:17, but I guess you can do it as well in post-editing mode on Xiaomi. So, it is as it was like last 5 years: iPhone is better in standard preset photo app, but is beaten by Xiaomi in general.

    For all photos the iphone is over sharpened, especially on greenery (grass, bushes, trees etc.), the photos have an artifical almost plastic look about them. I'm sorry but I do not like iphone day-time photos at all. Night time photos cannot really display what we actually see, although white balance is important during day light, at night its all about artificial light. Wherever we may take a photo it will be under conditions of artifical light and very little artificial light is white enough to truly reflect daylight colours. The xiaomi seemed to better cope with this condition on all even when an orange tungsten type light and yellow lighting were combined for a view that you suggested was best on the iphone, yet what would prevent me opting for the iphone's photo was the intense artificiality of the floor tables etc that the oversharpening of iphone produced. This same over sharpening is evident in the iphone's videos and this is what makes the iphone's videos appear superior (Though both seriously failed on nighttime videos). The videos may appear better but I question if they actually are, for example ; the greenery on the video of that small house is appalling on the iphone almost oil painting style, though I guess someone may claim such sharpening as "digital art". I understand the need to have a steady video shoot when moving/jogging/running etc. but i do not understand the modern trend of eliminating judder from movement all together. It is artificial and utter nonsense when compared with the reality they are supposed to capture. Both phones fail at this. I think this comparison showed the failings of both phones and today's phone trends in general.

    So idk you guys. You're hating on xiaomi quite a bit for the "less detail" in the shots but all im seeing is actually just a less artificially sharpened and contrasted photos. Like honestly i think they take practically the same quality photos and if you tweaked the xiaomi photos in an editing app to have more sharpness end more contrast the shots would look identical to the iphone with a few exceptions where the the better HDR of iphone makes the difference. And like The mic... it's just so much better in the xiaomi. Also the night photos are overall better in the xiaomi. It captures more detail and only sometimes gets the colour pallet wrong, but egain you can tweak that in the editing app and overall get better low light photos with xiaomi. And the video? I think that xiaomi has actually more detail in the video. You'd think its the iphone, but if you look closely you will see the same thing as in the photos. Iphone has more sharpened and contrasted shots which makes us think it has more detail at the first glance but if you remove that, the videos will look awfully similar or even play in favour of xiaomi (of course with a few exceptions where the extreme HDR kicks in and the iphone wins for a moment). And so that you don't say im biased towards xiaomi I will admit that the dynamic video looks better on iphone. Whenever you move more, the iphone shows it's better stabilisation and more detail in those fast moving shots, but that's kind of the lack of frame rate on xiaomi's side. Over all I think that xiaomi should win this, I think it's better, but depending on what you're looking for you might choose the iphone.
    PS. If you include price to quality ratio in the comparison then xiaomi most definitely wins.
