The worst of the blacklash of ch 139 is seen in r/titanfolk. I never followed AOT from the beginning but I’m amazed by the visible fissure the last chapters drove through the (manga) fandom that even me as an ‘outsider’ could feel. From my perspective, I don’t know man. Perhaps the anime can somehow reconcile the conclusion, but it’s only a possibility. Some of the people that hate the series now are like this because of how much they LOVED the manga before it’s final developments. People that label and straw-man them as simple-minded haters don’t do their full person justice. I mean, why else would there be a dedicated team writing an alternate manga just to fix the ending (AOT:R)? Is the drive to do such a thing also born out of hate? …I guess only time will tell. I personally am super curious to see the full feedback after anime-only fans see the ending. It’s going to be super interesting. Plus, I wonder how Gigguk will react too; the dude loves AOT up to this point so having his opinion of the ending is also something I’m looking forward to. PS Congratulations on this video dude. I don’t agree with everything you said but it was well edited, well written and above all else compelling. The ending points and montage were a great touch. Great story telling, analysis and arguments 😊 👍. For someone with a relatively low count of subscribers and views, the quality of this content at least deserves 100000x that. Seriously, I’ve seen much larger channels not even put half the effort you did. Keep this up and you’re bound to get the same recognition of other well known commentators like a Super Eyepatch Wolf, Mother’s Basement and Gigguk 👍👍, at least, that’s how I feel.
I see most videos that regard the end in a positive light to have certain misconceptions as to why people hate the ending. I dont think they can comprehend the reasons, or they simply dont care enough to try. Manga Spoilers dont read if you are an anime only! The most popular are the headcanon one and the "speed reader" they can call ending haters everything they want, but speed reader seems like the dumbest one to use. They have definitely reread the manga way more than most. Then there are those that believe people wanted a happy ending. Or people that believe the hate comes from the main character dying. I love Greek tragedies, I love stories where the protagonist dies. I actually love Paradis getting carpet boombed, it was really cathartic! If I can take one single thing from the ending that I love, is them getting carpet bombed.
