This entire album is fun as shit to play with and learn. Still learning some parts in some songs cause I've stuck with only going by ear and watching other videos for what songs i can find from Ruination for this album. Once you figure the guitarists habits and recurring themes it gets a bit easier. My personal favorite is Lords of Chaos. This album proves that D standard can be just a fucking heavy/brutal as any other lower dropped tunings. Funny enough im not a JfaC fan in the slightest, but ill shout til i turn blue in the face that this is truly one of the greatest metal albums front to back in all aspects (mixing, arrangements, writing, riffs, etc.). Seriously. Your cover is by far one of the best and !ost accurate imo because of the simple fact that you hear and play that the chorded type riffs in the song as octave based chords (if that makes sense lol; self taught all the way here so im kinda illiterate with proper theory and terminology lol). Sick ass Ibby too man, one of my current "dream" guitars atm is the prestige model introduced a few yrs ago. Its weathered black with white binding around the body and fretboard, reverse headstock, Gibraltar bridge version yanno. Hell and id be happy with either the 6 or 7 versions. Thimk its labeled like prestige AHBF or something? Sick as cover btw man. Seriosuly cant recommend learming lords of chaos enough, insanely fun to jam. Not as super complex like some others from Ruination but still a challenge fersure. Anyhow cheers buddy, sick video. Amd props for playing it accurate during the verses n shit. To me at least lol

My dude thanks so much for this! I’ll definitely check out Lords of Chaos, this is my favorite album by them every song is such a banger and when I learned this song it showed me the depth of the skills of the guitarists and I’m a huge theory nerd so trying to figure out what was going on through their heads while writing a song like this is just a total mind fuck! Their use of chromaticism and key changes and just insane riff structure is totally beyond me, and I know a shit ton of theory especially after studying jazz for years through music college. I was surprised this was only in D standard too! Sounds much heavier. Gotta love it. Cheers my bro! Appreciate ya 🤘🏽😎🔥

Great playing man! For the intro, are you hitting the accented notes (3rd fret of the d string) with an upstroke or down stroke?
I’m practicing this but not sure if I should be sort of inside out picking it, or trying to get an upstroke in

Thanks brotha ! So I slowed it down and it looks like the whole first half of the riff I downpick those accented notes except for like the last 2-3 notes in the sequence before it repeats. If you wanna see exactly how I picked the entire thing then just slow it down to 0.5x and you can see what I’m doing for the most part but I’m mostly just alternate picking basically everything. I believe the riff is in something weird like 9/8 or 7/8 or something I can’t remember but I may double down pick halfway through because of that to reset my picking. 🤘🏽🔥🐉
