Welcome dear soul to shoegazey goodness. Ethereal, lush, layered, heavier than your deepest darkest breath @ 3am. I have worshipped @ this altar since I was 9 years old. Pedals. Synths. It makes an auditory heaven haven
In my early adulthood I spent a lot of time listening to bands like Cocteau Twins, Slowdive, MBV and early Ecstasy of St. Theresa. So many bands have since tried to recapture the magic of those bands, with love and respect for sure, but rarely with much originality and ability to bring anything new to the table. What you do with this song and your new album - Grandfeathered - is showing a deep and profound understanding of this kind of music - which you are destined to be associated with whether you like it or not - bring something truly new and original to it and basically blow my mind in a way I have not experienced - in this particular genre - for decades. Thank you! You are my new favorite band.
Original or not, I'm personally glad to see more younger generations of dreampoppers & shoegazers embracing the the influences of 80's & 90's dream music and evolve them further. I'm from Malaysia and music like this is very rare. The newer generation may not 'recapture' the magic & beauty but at least they never forget.
I must agree, while the reference good influences and stay true to the sounds, they are original and bring a fresh sound to the style. All I can say in praise is Im sure that 4AD would've signed them back in the 80s/90s :-)
We old farts should be thankful for the new generation of shoegazers continuing the legacy despite whatever constitutes as 'samey' or 'unoriginal'. We should encourage them to expand the genre if not explore it. Shoegaze is genre whose songs have barely hit the top 100 charts, still the rarest genre anywhere in the world, despite some top bands and maybe for the better. In an industry that keeps shitting out manufactured pop acts every hour, hope lies in these new generation of band bringing the legacy forward.
It's crazy how these guys basically became my favorite band in the span of about 30 minutes. I don't know how I've lived without them. I heard Mollky on KEXP and was hooked. can't wait for the new record.
Pinkshinyultrablast combines a post-rock attitude with a grand perfectionist streak towards the shoegazing genre. You get this in their music - a belligerent, yet soothing futuristic painting that would make Luigi Rossolo proud.
Really glad to find&discover this band&more then other things shoot me it was to know they are a russian shoegaze/post rock band from St Petersburg!!!And I was shocked by it for the first time, but right now I just in peace and love with it&happiness to find this so incredibly amazing music!it's absolutely&totally hypnotically magnificent magic!!!Clips are pure good&very high quality professional!!! Little girl, all your worries Let them go and let it be The big wide world in its glory What you get is what you see Dream away, you are young still Find your ways, stay far from timid Laugh it out, all is fine Let it be and take it all in You're asking questions, you're Dispelling morning mists Your little weakling hands Forming two tiny fists You watch the cloudy skies These gruesome days go by You're lonely, it's okay, No money is also fine You've made up your mind these days You're having no regrets Look back: those foolish moves They were your own mistakes A way to learn and see Oh, what's beyound the curve See, you just have to try Just got to build up nerve Overseas where we aren't So it seems that the sun's Got brighter beams Cherish our dreams 'Bout the way we are Making our wish To a falling star
@april cot I think they repeat some of the verses. And I will say "stay far from timid" is not what I can make out. Maybe it's her high-pitch, or her accent. Not sure. But if these really ARE the lyrics, they sure are wise and beautiful.
Oh well, the 90s couldn't last forever. The moment passed you by and no one recognized your genius. New careers for everyone and eventually decrepitude and death.
I would say one of the best post-nineties psychedelic pop/shoegaze etc bands. I have listened to many of the 21st-century types. Not a Lush, Cocteau Twins or Ride tribute, but their own sound. Gushing aside, I am troubled by their loss of their live percussion. It gave PSU their grind and edge. Their perfect balance with the vocals. I respect of course PSU are the artists and so they have chosen an electronic percussion. But this is an example of them at their finest.
Always see music reviewers bashing these guys for not being original enough. Who cares when the result is so fantastic, super original or not. Hope so bad to see these guys some day.
Shydrasnake, I second that. I've listened to a bit of shoegaze and this band has quite a unique sound that allows me to identify them, especially in their switch ups.
Who is bashing them? What is there to bash? That I maybe colluding with the Russians because I love this music> I've watched the live performance videos and these folks are true artist. They feel the music from within and bring it out like a pinkshinyultrablast!
This music video is so ridiculously epic, every time I watch it I'm blown away! It really goes with the adventurous attitude of the song. epic song, epic music video. incredible job everyone involved. I wish i could watch the hypothetical movie the footage looks like it is from.
Your new “Songs” EP popped up in my Spotify daily feed. Upon hearing it, I immediately searched for the rest of your music. Simply amazing work. I can listen to it all day.
I like this band! I think my favorite one of theirs is "Blaster" yeah, I had that same question, are they singing in Russian? It is hard to tell, as in most Shoegaze, the vocals are real dreamy and echo a lot. I like that, but it does make the words hard to understand, but that is cool, I think it seems to be more about the overall sound and effect, not the words themselves..but I would like to know.
I have never been able to find their lyrics anywhere online, but I think they're in English. I'm pretty certain she says the words "holy forest" in the song Holy Forest. And occasionally you can understand them.
Love how that guitar gets so blown out and distorted that it's just a haze. Like an exploding and expanding cloud of tone
That's an incredible description

Could not have said it better Zedfinite
please come back, the music you make is out of this world!
I agree, as a noise pop fan they are easily the best and most interesting noise band of the last 20 years.
I simply love this. It sounds like summer when I was young and wasn't world weary or cynical yet. Forgot what it feels like.
fight for it, ironically you can get that feeling again....
When I hear the phrase world weary I always think of Rick Dekkard in Blade Runner.
The World needs more music such as this.
more now than ever
absolutely.

Same here when the previous album came out beginning of 2015 I was blown away!!
+Martin Osborne I had never heard them. omg they're fantastic.
+Drake Fierge listen to umi, ravestar supreme, holy forest and metamorphosis by them if uv not already. Just too good
+Martin Osborne I have and I have each of those in my main Spotify playlist. they remind me a bit m83
+Drake Fierge yh I can understand that ethereal dreamlike n catchy both very good
Never thought a girl would make me miss LA. She's beautiful. Listened to her music for years; never seen her. The voice matches her beauty.

i discovered you all in 2022, and my mind and ears and soul are blown away, your sound is amazing, much love
It's never too late for Shoegaze! I was told over and over again that this music was dead 30 years ago... And yet, it's 2024, and here we are! 😉😎👊
the most dreamiest guitars to ever grace my ears
Little girl, all your worries
Let them go and let it be
The big wide world in its glory
What you get is what you see
Dream away, you are young still
Find your ways, stay far from timid
Laugh it out, all is fine
Let it be and take it all in
You're asking questions, you're
Dispelling morning mists
Your little weakling hands
Forming two tiny fists
You watch the cloudy skies
These gruesome days go by
You're lonely, it's okay,
No money is also fine
You've made up your mind these days
You're having no regrets
Look back: those foolish moves
They were your own mistakes
A way to learn and see
Oh, what's beyound the curve
See, you just have to try
Just got to build up nerve
Overseas where we aren't
So it seems that the sun's
Got brighter beams
Cherish our dreams
'Bout the way we are
Making our wish
To a falling star
Luca Kaleb You're a saint.

I like the whole video but the cat playing the keyboard is the best part.
The chorus reminds me so much of Lush
Love the band and love the pussycat!
