I am from Australia, and this scene unfortunately portrays Madhavan as a caring/loving husband who will do anything for his wife and family. But on the contrast, when a woman isn't mentally prepared to have a child, she shouldn't be forced. Marriage is to find a life partner, you don't have to take the responsibilities of becoming a parent if you aren't ready. Until the 20th week, the fetus hasn't even developed the vital organs needed for any human existence, hence it's not yet a child and is safe to abort at an early sage when the mother isn't ready. Here Madhavan, despite being a caring husband, doesn't connect to his wife's needs/values. I'm sorry, but some points Sadha raises are valid. Another thing, if he can't leave his parents when he is one of 3 or 4 children, how can the woman leave her family? Especially in this case where Sadha is the only child? Is a daughter not accepted equally as a son? Since I'm from a different country, the principles here are different, it is socially normal to live alone with your spouse after marriage- regardless of whether you're a man or a woman. Yes, take care of your parents in their old age, but don't separate a woman from her parents if you can't leave yours. By portraying the woman's mother as a selfish narrow minded woman- the film got what it wanted from the audience- empathy towards Madhavan. But in reality, there's a bigger picture- the ignorance here is too high.
What is called mentally not ready?? When a couple Is ready for bed life then they should be equally ready for it's end result... One more thing it's a gift given by God we don't have any rights to abort being in whatever culture or society we belong to... And one more thing separating from parents... Here in this movie Maddy's family shown to be a very lovable and respectful family where a gal is more respected and taken care..infact she should be happy instead she thinks very selfish... A daughter is taken from one family and treated her as a queen... I wish all the gals are treated like this when she goes to her husband's house...
