Installing a Vector Offroad GGB Cargo Rack In My Jeep

- It’s been long overdue. Between having 2 dogs and 2 kids, space can start getting tight in the Jeep. I hate having a cargo area that is cluttered and unorganized. And on the trails, that can get dangerous
I just made the switch over to the Vector Offroad GGB cargo basket. This will work on any year JKU 07-18, Vector also has a model for the 2 Door, however it mounts differently, and honestly it is completely different lol. Vector also has a model for the JLU. Sadly this rack will only work with jeeps that are equipped with hardtops (or run with no top at all). While it is a little expensive, the quality and added storage room is worth the price.
Vector also sells a cheaper, more “bare bones” rack, called the highland. It would still be a great choice, but for my Jeep I wanted the wrap around barrier.
Stay tuned for upcoming videos! I still need to wrap up the 1 ton swap series with the “final cost” video. And of course it’s time to start hitting the trails now that the weather is nice!

I also added a set of Molle Platform solution tie downs, paired with some GPCA hard top knobs (these are big and easy to take off!)

1:52 It took me 5 years to notice the Blue shovel. haha
I wouldn’t have believe you take your top off by your self until I saw it on video
Yeah been thinking about this dance/jigsaw in my head too
I have a power tank & propane tank mounted on my roll bars & a tuffy storage box in the back. It works but would like to add a fridge & slider & so need something higher for the storage rack
But don’t want to give up the propane & power thanks mounted to the roll bars.
Hmm
Thanks for showing this & the power thank on them bottom. Good idea
gen right looks better then that 1 as far as beef & it mounts lower which seems to fit the space u r using under neath w/out dead spot.
Everyone needs a little blue sand shovel ! Love it ! Maybe my next mod?
You're not making my JK fever any better... Yea. I fucking said it.
Cool system! But don't get a flat tire...LOL! With your particular set up, where does the spare go??
I would have put the wingnuts outside the basket
Good spot for the toy sand shovel.
Haha glad someone noticed! It’s my “overland shovel” 😂
Spare tire holder
Thats a nice tray. I did a DIY of metal shelf brackets on my Wrangler for under $40, but the commercial products will always look better.
Nice looking shelving unit! Can certainly see the advantages for packing the cargo space.
I love mine! Just watch the wire on the passenger rollbar when installing. Mine snuck in and got pinched. Vector makes some super cool and well made gear.
I was looking at that one and the cheaper version. I decided I didn't want to spend that much so I got the one from Molle Platform Solutions. It is only 14" deep as opposed to 23" which I like since I still hit my head like a dumbass. The whole shelf is Molle so I can strap all kinds of stuff to it. The shelf hold more than I thought, but probably limited to about 75-80 lbs.
Move the wing nuts to the out side.
I thought about that. But with the top on, it might make them hard to remove
@@JKGearandGadgets They may be harder to removed but will be less likely to scratch or rip stuff that you're storing up their.
I really like the shovels
Not available for 2door :(
nice! I like that setup!
Excellent video. I have a rack from tuffy that has been great for easier storage. Four side rails for straps. And it lifts up to full vertical if I have something tall. My rack is level with the tailgate, which allows for secure storage with top/doors off and locking the tailgate. No, I don't have a dog yet, but he may just ride in the rear seat. Keep the great videos coming, as I think I still have some money left to spend.
Hey Ben, after all this time, how do you like the shelf?
Great vid. I know where the axles are going. I seen ya post. lol
Hi, do you know if this will fit the seat recline spacers?
i'd put your power tank up top. yeah you'll loose the little bit of storage, but you gain it under to stuff a chair in there or whatever.
Sadly the 15lb tank is too long and will hit the hard top glass. Have to mount it underneath so it can go all the way back to the seat
@@JKGearandGadgets well dang it!! i tried. lol!
@1:12 Sand castle approved
11:19 I'm doing this now 😂
Seriously! I need to move to the US so I can buy all these cool mods. So unfair that the rest of the world misses out. I can dream
I went with the MORryde setup cause i can use it with both fastback softop and hardtop ,hardtop its tucked up and out of the way kinda hidden and fastback it hangs straight down . Like it cause its very versatile for attaching things and creates a barrier (wall) to stop dog from drooling all over back seats and passengers lol plus guys from MORryde have been good to us !! Its half the price but prob not as strong due to the bar that swivels and holds shelf up but nevertheless I LOVE it!!
About time Cassie was in a vid!
I would think the wing nuts would be outside the tray in the open space. Placing them inside the tray, something can grab it and rotate them when you pull on the item to get it off. Similar to having the end of the bolt. That could tear your item.
Though for me, I would use a lock nut on 1-2 on each side to better secure the tray to its side mount. Wing nuts will have tendency to vibrate loose, unless tightened with set of pliers.
Very nice! Love the video as always!! Since your not using them saddle bags anymore send them my way I'll pay for shipping! 😂😉😂
Haha I’ll still be using them! Need to put them back on
@@JKGearandGadgets couldn't resist! I remember u mentioning how soon as u take something off ppl ask for it!!! I already ordered mine! 😂😂😂😂
Curious. Installed mine for a three week road trip and used the highest setting to clear my fridge/stove slider combo. Fully loaded, it squeaks. Unloaded, it squawks! Even on flat pavement. Does yours make noise too (metal on metal rubbing)? I'm hoping it's my own installation error.
I have not heard any squeaks at all
Great looking product! It looks very well made and sturdy. And of course, you can't go wrong with the power coating. However, I do agree with everyone else here that the price is way too high. Hopefully in time it will come down a bit, or perhaps we should wait till Vector has some sort of promotion that gives a discount. On a side note, I wonder if they have/sell a rubber fitted mat that goes on the bottom of the rack to keep things from sliding around or marring up the bottom causing scratches. Maybe I should reach out to them?
Great vid brotha!
How do u keep the head rest laying down
There is a write up somewhere online about it, involves a zip tie around a spring in the headrest
DAMN How do you take that hard top by yourself ? i have never seen anyone do that ? its heavy
Hey Ben!! Any chance of working a deal on your Diabolical set up !??? Thx !!!
What front fenders are you running on your jk. Thanks for the great videos.
They are MCE narrows 🤘
What kind of rack is that on your tailgate that attaches the Molle gear?
It’s from Molle platform solutions! They make all kinds of sweet Molle stuff for jeeps
Is that aftermarket hardtop lighter than the factory one? Or was that the factory hard top? That factory hard top is unreasonably heavy.
It’s the factory top
What’s up there ...I was wondering how much space is there from the back of the rear seats to tailgate?
What are the tie downs on each side of Jeep? Along the sides where hardtop would bolt down. Can you put top on with these tie downs and still be weatherproof?
They are from Molle platform solutions. And yes, they go back in on top of your hardtop when you re-install the top
@@JKGearandGadgets thanks. Great job on videos.
Did you get the steel or aluminum basket?
what are instructions?
looking for something like this for my 2dr. anybody know of an option?
Nice! Have you wheeled it yet since you put in the tons?
Just did yesterday! Stay tuned for a video. Nothing crazy, just a shakedown run
Nice video but $500 tray!!!!??? I can do without.
Looks nice but do you have to have a 1 ton axle installed 1st? Lol
Looks great. Never heard of them. Gives me another option besides Genright & Teraflex.
Question is... what are you going to do with that Diabolical slipstream? I heard you decided to sell it to me real cheap. 😏
I’ll probably be selling it, however shipping doesn’t sound fun with that thing
@@JKGearandGadgets
True. You should deliver it to El Paso for me then. Road trip, baby! Lol
What product do you have covering your pinch weld??
What do you mean?
@@JKGearandGadgets underneath the doors you have a black trim that covers the body to floor pan pinch weld..
They are rock rails from 7slotcustoms, they are also running a 15% off sale currently!
@@JKGearandGadgets thanks
What are you doing with your DIABOLICAL SLIP STREAM i was thinking of getting one for my JKU cause i run a soft fastback
I’ll probably sell it, but not looking to ship it
I’ll probably sell it, but not looking to ship it
I imagine rear visibility is pretty much nonexistent with this thing ?
With things on it, there is no visability, with the rack bare I can still see a little out of the rear

@@JKGearandGadgets Wouldn´t have thought that with the guard rails . I might have to take a closer look at this thing ;)
If you want me to snap a pic of how it looks in the mirror just shoot me a message on Instagram or email me jkgearandgadgets@gmail.com
another excellent video!! and another chunk out of my wallet! lol!! just one question what are those black rails on your jeep where the hard top sits?
They are from Molle platform solutions. They can be installed with the top off or on. Perfect to use as a rear cargo tie down spot
I was about to ask the same question..
you should do a video on those I'm sure others would like them, Thank You
I’ll be sure to talk about them in an upcoming video 🤘
I'm welder and I make one heavy duty for 350 to 400 pounds
