      That Shabby Guy I know I just said something similar the other day. But please make a video of when why what it does what it looks like when you use regular paint, chalk paint, water base stain, oil base stain, wax, poly, clear coat, doing the stain over paint and everything else there is when it comes to different ways of restoring/ painting furniture. I have never painted furniture but I’m going after it this weekend and would love to see a video like that. Would just make a beginner feel comfortable and know what is for what and all the options and looks you could go for. Your a really trustful guy and love learning from you! You could literally just sit there and talk and show old pieces of furniture don’t even have to paint! I watch ALOT OF RUclips I honestly think the video would kill it and acourse help a lot of people! Hope to see it soon! Much love homie!

      That Shabby Guy and also if your going for a rustic look or distressed whatever you wanna call you would you paint it make the scratches then glaze it to have the distressed parts really pop?

    I love how you transition classic pieces to update them. This piece could easily fit into a contemporary home setting, and really stand out. Just stunning! I have been painting thrift store furniture pieces for decades, as that was my only option when I was young. Cheap pieces turned into something unique. Just love your work! Absolutely splendid!!!

    This process was very popular in the 60’s and 70’s. My Dad taught me how to do this. We called it an antique finish. I have a church pew that I painted a solid dark dark red. It never seemed finished. Now I know why! I’m going to use your technique! Thanks.

      @ThatShabbyGuy  5 лет назад

      Oh yes. I have people tell me all the time about how it was popular back then. I've heard it called glazing, antiquing, and most of the "older" ones use the term "pickling". :D

    My point, my dear shabby guy, yr great at teaching an old dog new tricks. In almost every piece you make, you pull out some trick that makes this old heart soar. I've been binging since I found you.

    I love using those gloves, and if you're careful you can keep reusing them for a while. Definitely worth the money. Also, this piece turned out amazing. I had initially thought a cast iron look for the hardware to keep some of that antique flair, but the gold really made it pop. Nice.

    Nothing more satisfying than peeling painter’s tape from a completed paint job, and seeing that nice, crisp edge. Love the colour of this piece. I suspect that is a Cutlery Drawer (or Silver Drawer) on the left. Back in the day, when you had silver plate flatware (cutlery) or, if you were very lucky, sterling silver that had been handed down to you, you would clean it then put it in a special case or Silver Wraps (Silver impregnated felt wraps with little pockets, that stopped it from tarnishing), and keep them in your Silver Drawer. 👍
