I love this video. I have a long ways to go in fully upgrading my C10, but that is how I like it. I buy a few pieces at a time and see how much it helps before getting more. Switching from highspeed RC to crawlers has been a very enjoyable experience. Currently awaiting an order from AMain Hobbys and another from Amazon, wheels tires and high clearance 4links!

Thank you!! Your C10 sounds like a monster! Did the portals hurt your performance at all? Just thinking how much they raised the chassis on my gladiator. I’ve been skeptical to put them on the c10 because I don’t want to spoil how it performs.
@@CapeCrawlers no not at all Adam, i think its way better. I dont have the RCAWD portals i got some off Aliexpress which dont have the huge C hubs on. Storytime with Adam from Cape Crawlers. Have you thought about starting a line of kids books? "At the sound of the steering servo, please turn the page.. wzzzt-wzzzt" Another great video, and I'm happy to see after all your work that this story has a good ending. Nice build!!
Just picked up a used C10 yesterday... Thanks for the video and all the info - will come in very handy once the upgrades are getting ordered!! LOL!! Have fun!!
Very cool video and very informative. My very good friend bought me a C 10 for Christmas. And I am nuts about it. I will be following your channel now. My friend actually sent me this video to watch. Have a good day sir thank you
Thank you! It’s a fun one. I think because it has maintained a more scale look it’s more enjoyable at times to watch it perform. Definitely an underdog
I found your channel a few hours ago and it’s been a great use of time going through your vids, and I think I’m going to build a more scale sleeper out of my dodge which is hardly upgraded, I might get out and record a vid on the rocks soon with it, then the upgrades will commence! Great channel sir you have earned yourself another subscriber! Have a good one
I have two video ideas for you on this C10. Replace the rear axle with a stock front axle for four wheel steering. Might need to go back to V1 electronics for that. And if you have portal axles can you test them in the C10 with all your weight upgrades added?
Great ideas! I discovered how to do 4WS on V2 so I could make the swap pretty easily as long as I have an extra front housing around. I would like to try some of the new treal portals and this could be a good platform to do so.
I have been on your channel almost daily watching your videos since getting back into the RC hobby recently and now the micro crawlers. I want to thank you for the excellent content it has helped me a lot, keep up the good work. I followed your Jeep JLU build video very closely and now have a very capable crawler that dominates my indoor course. Just this weekend my C10 arrived and now I'm looking for your advice on a few things if you have time. I would like to go for that classic lifted truck look with some meaty off-road tires. I'm picturing down the road maybe the Jeep on a trailer behind the C10. I'm kind of looking at the RC4WD Mickey Thompson Baja Pro X tires which are what I would consider a midsize tire at 56 mm. I know you recommend trimming the body but I am terrified of doing this since it's not very easy to find a replacement body if I mess up. Also not looking for a ton of articulation as I have the Jeep for that. I don't want it to be a horrible performer but I'm more concerned about that scale lifted truck look, you know. Anyways I would like your advice on how I can achieve this lifted look. I watched your video about relocating the springs to the frame but still unsure if that would be enough to fit a mid-sized tire. Also it seems like when you do this it shortens the wheelbase and looks kind of weird. Would extended links correct the wheelbase back to stock position? Also what do you think about portal axles? I'm really kind of interested in that option to lower the wheel shafts and fit a bigger tire. Anyways sorry for the long drawn out text and if you have time I would appreciate your opinion on what you would do and where to start to achieve what I'm looking for. Thank you
Thanks for the support, I appreciate it! Regarding the shocks to the frame, this will look odd if you’re going for a scale, lifted look. You’re better off leaving long travel shocks mounted to stock towers for that look. The portal axles will also make room by lifting the chassis. But the room in the fenders will be disproportionate to the amount of over all chassis lift since the portals raise your entire vehicle from the axles up. Does that make sense?
@@CapeCrawlers Thank you for the reply. Tonight I moved the shock position to the frame and didn't care for that at all. It lifted the truck up what I'm trying to get but I'm looking at it from the side I didn't care for the look of the shocks being there. And I think I know what you mean about the portals making the tires be disproportionate in the wheel well. It kind of did that when raising it with the shocks also. If that's what you're referring to the tires being too big for the wheel well I think I will have to live with it if I'm not going to cut the fenders. And on further thought maybe the portals aren't the best idea because looking at it from the front you would see that the axle is not center of the wheel center and that might kind of look funny. So maybe your idea of some longer shocks back in the stock locations is best to lift up the vehicle a little bit. I think the stock shocks are 32mm and I see that the after market shocks come in 39, 43, and 48mm. I'm assuming the longer I get the more it will lift it if I leave the springs in right? Maybe I'll get a couple different lengths and see what works best. Probably get something on amazon, their return policy is excellent. Is there a brand on there you have had good success with? I have the gray C10 so probably don't want any bright colors. I'm thinking either black, silver, or metal color would suit the vehicle.
My deadbolt looks exactly like your setup on your C10 I just cut the front of the chassis off so the steering servo doesn't bump or get stuck on it running stock shocks upfront and double barrel on back have 050 motor with stock esc got comp tired 1.0 high clearance links and got it slapped to the ground pretty much have every upgrade you can get for it except brushless and real portal axles I got these cheap slap on ones but kept binding and didn't like how high it put it...
Ive got one of these, i found i could move the bumper up by putting it instead of in the mounting holes, able them, then trim the body so it would be flush and give more clearance
I just got into this hobby and I picked up an scx24 and I love it. Definitely appreciate the videos because I’m literally stepping into uncharted territory as a new hobby
@@CapeCrawlers I had a question I watched your video from 6 months ago (FLEX BEAST! Full build overview of the Axial SCX24 Jeep gladiator.) I had some questions and maybe you could make or tag me for a video on my scx24 c10 is stock. i watched your other video on the injora beadlocks that you run on your gladiator and I wanted to ask could make a video of setting the tire on those wheels. Having mine stock I truly see where the disadvantage are and I want to go for the wider stance first. I went on Amazon and order me a pair of these wheels and I would like to buy the tires you but don’t know how to install them
I've got one and my brother I think just bought one and bought some upgrades with so I'm looking forward to that!!there a great truck I grew up around the real version of the truck so there kinda my favorite!!
My trucks built with the deadbolt rear end and c10 front end made it extra long you should give it a try makes for the perfect crawler can damn near crawl straight up a tree
Great video. What I’m noticing even with the 43mm length shocks is how little purchase there is on the driveshaft when the shocks are fully articulated. Are you not worried about this with the stock driveshaft? Would you consider a driveshaft upgrade at this point? If so, what would you be looking for in an upgrade there?
No, it's very simple. Check this video out: ruclips.net/video/nOOvKnG--JE/видео.html At around the 26 min mark I go over the relocation with a stock chassis. An upgraded chassis kit like the Grizzly Works makes it more clean and simple, but it's totally possible on the stock chassis.
What size are the tires? My mom just got this one, and she’s trying to avoid trimming too much, and she really likes the way you trimmed it, all while keeping the original look. Hard to figure out what size we should go with
I swear this story’s sounds exactly like mine😂 just that I’m the motocross rider since I have a c10 that looks just like this almost the exact parts and I sold one, so I can continue getting more parts for my dirtbike etc
Just got the c10,it's all stock, thought I wanna stuck same size tires but maybe wider n shorter if it's possible keep it low to the ground but orders the 7mm kit your referred and thinking Maybe 43mm shocks. What's your opinion
You want to keep the same size tires as stock, is that what you mean? The hex extensions and long shocks would be great. I would suggest removing the springs from the long shocks or putting stock springs on there. Otherwise it’s going to lift the chassis up significantly
I want to ask you about some tires for my c10. I have a awesome orange one. What is the best next size up for my truck. With bead lock wheels?.and should I use wheel spacers?.and a good crawler tire.
Great video man keep it up i’m running 48 mm double barrels on my c10 it’s an absolute beast thinking about maybe going brushless tbh but I’ve never used one
I highly recommend the Furitek Tegu esc and Komodo brushless motor Skyler, you wouldnt even think its moving how slow i can get it to crawl. Saying that i have ordered the Mofo rc Slow Motion Pancake motor to compare it. Hope this helps 🤙🏻🤙🏻
hi Adam i recently found your channel and cant stop watching. i have now ordered a scx 24. could you tell me what size hex i need to work on it. many thanks.
The springs in the rear - when you say stock springs do you mean the stock scx24 springs that come with the original kit or the springs that came with the Injora shocks? Thanks
I agree with everyone I about went to skip the story but you made it just relaxing to listen to and it set the mood to just be relaxing all round to hear about the love for your c10 I have one too I've been moving slowly into a purple and green color scheme I'm big on the asthetics as well and my brother is running a gladiator so I've been doing all I can to make my Lil guy as capable as his those V2 electronics are so much smoother I had a lot to make up for an that's all I'm missin now I have an ox 50t motor to put in but I haven't yet I just hooked up the new V2 version of grizzly works LCG kit the new resin design is much nicer. I have 6mm extended stub shafts up front the wheels are kinda sketchy I'm not sure why but one is toed out way too much I gotta check it out when I get home but man I love it
Thanks for watching! Your c10 sounds like a great build! With a little work, your c10 will walk all over your brothers gladiator. It’s amazing how capable these little trucks are!
What link length do you use to convert the upper fronts? I just got the injora high clearance links for my sons new c10 and the articulation is pretty limited and I’d like to increase it. You also mentioned something you do with the o-rings but I can’t find anything specific to that in you videos (admittedly I didn’t watch every one all the way through :) Thanks for the great videos
I did stock length. I take the outer o ring off of each mounting point with the links (making sure the wide flange is on the outside). This frees up the links a lot and allows for more movement.
Nice build! Did you need to do any modifications to those hex extensions to make them fit with the Injora wheels? I have the exact same wheels, and I've noticed that they have those 4 screws on the inside/back of the wheels. Do those screws interfere with the fit of the hex extensions at all?
Running the front shocks on the frame, does your front driveshaft ever over extend and come apart? It’s happened a couple times now when the kid is using it hard. Does the limiting strap help with that issue?
Great video and info! I'm very new to the hobby and have a stock silver c10. I'd like to do heavier beadlock wheels/tires, suspension, and the high clearance linkage. My question is would those upgrades require a more powerful motor? Or would the stock one be able to handle that until later on in my "crawling career" Thanks for any response!
Welcome to the addiction, err hobby! You will need an upgraded servo along with those mods. The motor will probably handle it for a little while but most likely wont last long. Motors are cheap, I would suggest grabbing a Mofo RC torque beast or an OX motor to install while you've got the rig apart.
@@CapeCrawlers Thanks! Your videos have been a huge help and source of inspiration. Definitely got me sucked down the rabbit hole. Do you have any experience with the Injora servo? Or recommend a more basic plug and play option for servo?
@@subrosanj1748 No experience with the Injora servo, although I suspect its just a rebranded Emax. I like the EcoPower or Emax for simple servo replacements. Both options will require modification of the stock servo tray, or a replacement. I recommend the latter because it makes life easier and sets you up for upgrades down the road.
Thanks for watching! I think the best way is with a dremmel tool and a cutting wheel. Although I did the c10 and my earlier rigs with tin snips and used sandpaper to smooth them out and it worked just fine
Thank you! It depends on the tire. On small tires like the hyrax, I do not use foams. On bigger tires I will use a soft foam like the crawler innovations lil nova.
Question... i put the 4awd portals on my c10 with high clearance links now it sits a lil to high and I really want to put long travel shocks on it to. How can I make it sit lower? Would stretching the wheels put longer help?
What are you running for suspension on it now? You can take the springs out of your shocks, or if you have them mounted to the frame you can mount them further forward at a greater angle to lower the ride height. Flex extensions can also help.
Thanks ive been eyeing tbose flex blades. ill try putting them at a different angle. have treal 43mm treal shocks on there now but don't get as much flex as I want. 3 tires stacked up is all I can do 4 is to much.
I don’t think I would change anything. And I really haven’t. I did add a white blazer top and white wheels, but that’s more for aesthetic purposes. Mechanically it’s unchanged because it’s such a beast!
From a power, control, and sheer cool factor, there is no comparison. Brushless all day, every day. But I do feel that there is something to be said for the simplicity of the brushed setups. Just switch it on and go. Sometimes that’s a relief.
Alright you are a prior service member or something like that right? You said stood fast like stand fast that is something I’ve only heard by military service members
hi just want to ask we have the same reciever for scx24 and i buy lizard pro any tips for my stupidity? im new by the way idk wat will i do to my furitek and brushless motor 😭
The C10 should come with the V1 electronics (black esc box). If you have that, you can run the lizard pro. If you have the blue esc like in this video, it will not work with the lizard pro. The brushless motor is great, but the lizard pro works really good with a brushed motor. It's just a great setup.
I don't like the trimmed body. The C10 is beautiful in its original form, it's a pity to ruin it for the sake of performance. My mods do not affect the body, only lowering the center of gravity and increasing reliability. Brass and all that.
I just have my personal Facebook account. I’m also on Instagram if you’re on there? I can try to find you on Facebook otherwise. Sounds like a cool build!

You want to keep the same size tires as stock, is that what you mean? The hex extensions and long shocks would be great. I would suggest removing the springs from the long shocks or putting stock springs on there. Otherwise it’s going to lift the chassis up significantly
Slotted wheels 😎💪🏻
💪🏻👍🏻
Just heard you say where you bought the tire holder..lol
Did you find it?
I want to ask you about some tires for my c10. I have a awesome orange one. What is the best next size up for my truck. With bead lock wheels?.and should I use wheel spacers?.and a good crawler tire.
Great video man keep it up i’m running 48 mm double barrels on my c10 it’s an absolute beast thinking about maybe going brushless tbh but I’ve never used one
Thank you! Are you running the hot racing telescopic shocks to get that 48mm length? Brushless is a whole other world in terms of power and control!
@@CapeCrawlers they are HD’s I think
@@CapeCrawlers they are HD 48 mm I picked them up from my local hobby shop they were 38$
hi Adam i recently found your channel and cant stop watching. i have now ordered a scx 24. could you tell me what size hex i need to work on it. many thanks.
Hi Julian! Thanks for watching! For hex drivers you will want a 1.3 and 1.5mm. The wheel nuts are 4mm.
What pinion gear option did you go with for the motor? Or did you just swap out the stock one onto the new motor?
Mod 3 stock pitch
The springs in the rear - when you say stock springs do you mean the stock scx24 springs that come with the original kit or the springs that came with the Injora shocks? Thanks
Stock SCX24 springs
I just put my C10 body on my deadbolt frame
Do you think this setup would benefit using extended high clearance 4 links on it?
Yes, and I have since added them. I like them a lot!
@Cape Crawlers C10 rears on front and Deadbolt rears on back?
Is the battery mount part of the LCG chassis or can it be obtained separately?
I believe it's part of the kit. But you could always message Brandon through his Etsy store. He may be able to print you one.
Awesome, thank you! I love the content
Who makes the hex extensions ? Link?
XSYGO is the brand. Here is the link: a.co/d/9ExNVBt
Thank you I should’ve looked at the video description. Before commenting. Thank you!
What link length do you use to convert the upper fronts?
I just got the injora high clearance links for my sons new c10 and the articulation is pretty limited and I’d like to increase it.
You also mentioned something you do with the o-rings but I can’t find anything specific to that in you videos (admittedly I didn’t watch every one all the way through :)
Thanks for the great videos
I did stock length. I take the outer o ring off of each mounting point with the links (making sure the wide flange is on the outside). This frees up the links a lot and allows for more movement.
Nice build! Did you need to do any modifications to those hex extensions to make them fit with the Injora wheels? I have the exact same wheels, and I've noticed that they have those 4 screws on the inside/back of the wheels. Do those screws interfere with the fit of the hex extensions at all?
Thanks! Thankfully no, the extensions popped right in with no issue.
Running the front shocks on the frame, does your front driveshaft ever over extend and come apart? It’s happened a couple times now when the kid is using it hard. Does the limiting strap help with that issue?
Yes, and I run a limiting strap to help contain the driveshaft. Here’s my method: ruclips.net/user/shorts2cFlJfdcZj8?feature=share
Thank you. Love your vids. 🤙🏻
Looking to by a c10 for my next build
Great choice
I have almost the same setup I just got the injora high clearance links and they are binding pretty bad. Do you have any advice?
Try taking one o-ring out at each mounting position. It helps free them up significantly.
Great video and info! I'm very new to the hobby and have a stock silver c10. I'd like to do heavier beadlock wheels/tires, suspension, and the high clearance linkage. My question is would those upgrades require a more powerful motor? Or would the stock one be able to handle that until later on in my "crawling career"
Thanks for any response!
Great video's. Love your C10, I Just bought one. In your opinion what is the the best way to trim the fenders? Thank you
Thanks for watching! I think the best way is with a dremmel tool and a cutting wheel. Although I did the c10 and my earlier rigs with tin snips and used sandpaper to smooth them out and it worked just fine
@@CapeCrawlers Thanks for getting back. I'm assuming a 220 grit paper?? You have the Best RC channel on RUclips. Thanks again. I love this rig
@@josepha5 thank you! I’m not exact sure of the grit, only that it’s very fine
@@CapeCrawlers ok thx. Keep up the great vids. New sub
Hello! I was wondering if you use the foams on the tires. Great channel!
Thank you! It depends on the tire. On small tires like the hyrax, I do not use foams. On bigger tires I will use a soft foam like the crawler innovations lil nova.
Sweet
Thanks!

Question... i put the 4awd portals on my c10 with high clearance links now it sits a lil to high and I really want to put long travel shocks on it to.
Which torque beast exactly there’s multiple different ones ??
050 size with the mod 3 gear (stock size)
Would converting my bronco to 4 link be as simple as just buying these same links? Or is additional modification/parts necessary?
Yep, same thing! The four link is a great upgrade.
@@CapeCrawlers thank you sir! Ordered 💪🏻🍻
Knowing what you know now, what parts would you switch out?
I don’t think I would change anything. And I really haven’t. I did add a white blazer top and white wheels, but that’s more for aesthetic purposes. Mechanically it’s unchanged because it’s such a beast!
Thanks. I'm gonna steal a couple of your mods. Peace!
do more videos on the c10 i got one just like it
I will do that! I’ve got some plans for it and I’ll document all of that soon.
I'm not really sure if a brushed motor is better than the brushless motor.
From a power, control, and sheer cool factor, there is no comparison. Brushless all day, every day. But I do feel that there is something to be said for the simplicity of the brushed setups. Just switch it on and go. Sometimes that’s a relief.
What gear ratio did you pick for your c10?
I did 13t (23% overdrive) in the front, stock in the rear.
What size are you running for the tires
These are milestar Patagonia’s and are ~52mm tall. Great tires!
Thank you
Alright you are a prior service member or something like that right? You said stood fast like stand fast that is something I’ve only heard by military service members
How did you mount that tire on the back?
I got the mount from Adaptiv3 Designs on Etsy.
@@CapeCrawlers thank you
@@CapeCrawlers can you link it I can't find it but if no than it's alr
Sooooo injora or rc lions?
I’ve had better experiences with the RCLions personally.
Can you help me? I'm looking for a 2 speed transmission for my glacier 1/18. Thank you.
hi just want to ask we have the same reciever for scx24 and i buy lizard pro any tips for my stupidity? im new by the way idk wat will i do to my furitek and brushless motor 😭
The C10 should come with the V1 electronics (black esc box). If you have that, you can run the lizard pro. If you have the blue esc like in this video, it will not work with the lizard pro. The brushless motor is great, but the lizard pro works really good with a brushed motor. It's just a great setup.
i have the blue esc 😭😭😭 shud i buy a new RC and receiver to use my lizard pro? (i have the jlu btw) 😭
can i buy a prebuilt crawler from you

That was a cheesy intro bud... heh
I know 🤣 But I had to throw it out there. That’s why I put time stamps in so you can easily skip my foolishness
@@CapeCrawlers No worries! Love the content you're puttin' out there.
I don't like the trimmed body. The C10 is beautiful in its original form, it's a pity to ruin it for the sake of performance. My mods do not affect the body, only lowering the center of gravity and increasing reliability. Brass and all that.
hey Adam did you see that comment?
Yikes.. yes thank you!
Where is the fcx
It’s coming! I got the video pretty much ready to go. I’ll have it up Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest.
I love my c10!!!!!
