I met Jim at BP skatepark in Waynesville NC back in 2004.I was 50 then.When 2 guys with gray hair spot each other at a skatepark,they talk.We swapped surf stories from the 60s and 70s.I was more impressed when he told me he didn't start skating till he was 50.I started back in 1961 and never stopped,I'm 66 now and still skating but I couldn't imagine starting up at age 50.Skated with Jim many times at Food Lion Asheville park and Zero Gravity a few times.He told me he used to do his one leg trick on a surfboard so he knew he had to do it on a skateboard.He saw me doing Berts and he immediately started learning them.Miss you Bro.RIP.
I hope Jim wasn't affected by COVID. Once the snow is cleared in my town I will full send a a four stair that i can't do yet for him. RIP Jim Martin. Prayers to him.

I can totally dig it! I learned to skateboard at 5 years old from my uncle and had to stop when I was 18, because of my knees. Now I'm 49 and went back to roller skating, scince 2011, at it feels great to roll again. I say that if you can do it, go ahead , but just make sure you do listen to your body so that you don't hurt yourself, and things will be smoother. (Plus always remember to stretch, it make s it easier to move the next day.) Enjoy life , your family and friends, and the peace with in you!
