I love this type of approach for videos! No music, no fuss, just honest feedback on a personal experience with quality tips. Love the implementation of the concept. Thanks for sharing man :)

I was going to comment asking how your wrist doesn’t hurt sawing up high like that, and then you explained the custom handle. Very interesting!

Production value with the graphics and the music and the lighting is looking great. Well done, man.

This is an interesting take on the auxiliary bench/moxon vise concept! I am 6’2” and while my present workbench is a decent height for planing and chopping mortises, it sucks for dovetailing… I hunch over my work and after a coup,e hours my back and neck ache. I have started using my metalwork vise, which is 6” higher than my bench vise, but this is not ideal. I like the way you’ve set yours up. My dovetail saw is a Cosman, and the tote seems to work well for me at the higher angle. But I would really like to see you do a video on hang angle for saw totes, and a demo of making one’s own custom saw tote.

I have a separate "bench on bench" and a moxon vice that use on every project. Better ergonomics, line of sight, and workholding. I really liked your build, it was clean and well thought through.

Ditto, I like the height vs other bench on benches I've seen for sawing, tho a short person would benefit more from shorter legs. I don't like that the screw cranks suck above the table surface but the wide spacing probably obviates most interference when using the vise

To date, I haven't had the screw levers get in the way pf anything, and it's been roughly ten years since I built it. There's a first time for everything, I suppose, but to be fair the rim of a Moxon vise wheel would stick up a bit as well.

If anyone has a hard time locating a book press screw do a search for a veneer press screw.

I would love to see some plans for your bench top and seven saw bench stuff. Fantastic ideas. Cheers for sharing.

Yes that's very confortable and useful. Every one should give a try to some king on bench on a bench.
I've a bull bench made from the remainder of a beam 10" x 6" (-ish, it is 140x240mm) , 20" long, with a H shape to clamp it on the bench. For the vise I made some grooves in the bull bench to fit the bar of the quick clamps, and small grooves on the border of the chop to keep it in place. Not so nice as your but very quick and confortable to work with.
I can use the bull bench on the narrow or on the large side, that gives me 2 different hights to work with. I also have jaws to clamp saws on it for sharpenning. And one of the large side is used as a chop block that I put on the saw bench when I work with hatchet.

Would love to see a few photos of the construction behind the vice. How did you attach the apron behind?

It's 8/4 cherry that spans from leg to leg, is doweled to them, and the full length of it glued to the underside of the top.
