I’ve tried tons of different brands, but honestly WTF by far works best. Hobby Lobby has a nice 5mm for $1.29 that isn’t bad for accent pieces (knobs, tabs, buttons, etc...
hello, I have a question. I'm making a plague doctor custom and I need Eva foam for the mask and possibly the hat. all the tutorial says that I need a 6mm one. Do you think a 1mm difference will be too much for that type of foam or do you think it will work just as fine?
I buy mine on Facebook market....And scan bulk garbage pickup. Thrift stores usually have kilograms of them at times. I like the fact they're used and beat up it really adds character.
At home depot your best bet would be the colorful ones but you should be able to look at the pack and make sure it is smooth on one side. They can be a little pricey at home depot sometimes though so if you have a harbor freight near by that might be a less expensive way to go. :) Hope that helps :)
Going to have to respectfully disagree with you regarding yoga mats - I used one for making the horns on my dragon helm and had no problem with it holding shape. I used the textured, thinner type, not the thicker pad. I was able to cut 45-degree angles, it glues well with contact cement, and the texture is a bonus (at least for dragon horns). Ya-Ya Han's foam is ridiculously expensive (as are all of her products) because you're buying her name.
I agree that yoga mats can work. :) Because Yoga mats have a pretty broad spectrum as to what they are made out of, there are some that don't have the same properties as Eva foam and so I am careful to mention or recommend them because I can't make sure they get the right kind that will do what they want and I don't want anyone buying something that doesn't live up to what they thought and feel like they wasted money. :). But I totally agree with you that if you can find the right kind there are some cool advantages to the texture options they have as well. :) Thank you for all your insights and interaction! I love it and really appreciate it and it helps me to always improve my content! :)
@@CosplayApprentice I did. I plan on buying some WTF soon when I start my first ever build. Road Pigs cynder block weapon from G.I. Joe. I think the WTF foam would be perfect for the cynder block portion. Just gathering the necessary tools first.

@@amylee1999 A difference of 1mm is fine. You shouldn’t have any issues if you heat it first. Which is always recommended.
I buy it from Amazon Because I don’t know any craft stores near me and any normal shops don’t have them aswell

In norway you can go to a store called panduro and they have something that I think is eva foam
Thank you! Good to know! :)
Find and fond!
I just bought my first roll of 8mm cosplay foam from Michael’s (because it was in stock in town). What is the best way to flatten it for use?
Heat it then place a few pillows on it for a couple of hours
Is every floor mat from Home Depot smooth from one side? Because I don’t want to buy the wrong foam. Oh and FIND!
