I agree with Ratna ma'am about the quality of old Gujarati films. But, one old Gujarati film that must be watched is Bhav Ni Bhavai (1980). It has a stellar director, Ketan Mehta, and cast, Om Puri, Smita Patil, Naseeruddin Shah and others. One of the rare films that is not high on action and melodrama but instead treats a taboo topic with the sensitivity it deserves. It's based on an old myth about a boy who rebels against a king who ill-treats and discriminates against untouchables, and the king then faces the disastrous consequences of his actions in true poetic fashion.
Very well pointed out.if I'm not mistaken,it has some great comedy in it as well.

@@Angle86 Its not a matter of politics. Its matter of being Indian and proud Indian. Look what her hubby tells the world that since BJP came to power, he and his family dont feel safe in india. But he went quiet about Sur Tan Se Juda for Hindu victims. Now is this not Hypocrisy of the highest standard. If He was true indian, he should come out and protest against this Sur Tan Se Juda evil. Has he got guts in his a** to come out in the open and back hindus who were murdered and who are issued with threats. Now who is not safe in India?
