- Happy National School Counselor Week! This video highlights the invaluable work of the counseling team at Catawba Ridge High School. With passion and dedication, they strive to make a meaningful impact on their students' lives as they embark on their journeys toward the future.
The counselors are eager to guide each student in discovering and achieving their unique vision of success, whether it leads them to fulfilling careers, the military, or higher education. Counselors commit to student success by conducting personalized meetings with students and their parents to review Individual Graduation Plans (IGPs). These essential plans knit together individual course selections and ensure that all graduation requirements are met, paving the way for a smooth transition for their post-graduation plans.
Students are encouraged to explore the College and Career Center, a hub of resources where they can connect with their career development facilitator. Here, they can access a wealth of information regarding college options, financial aid opportunities, and various career pathways that can shape their futures.
Kristie Hill, a dedicated school counselor at Catawba Ridge High School, anticipates the excitement of graduation day when she can celebrate alongside her Copperheads. She warmly reflects on this moment, stating "It fills me with immense pride. This sense of achievement resonates not just with the students and their families but also with the teachers and faculty. As their school counselor, standing at the end of the stage as they walk across is a poignant experience. We have the honor of handing each graduate their diploma personally, and witnessing their joy in that moment is truly exhilarating. Some students glide across the stage with confidence, while others face it with trepidation, uncertain about what lies ahead. Yet, the sheer happiness that radiates from them as they receive their diplomas makes every effort we put in so worthwhile."
