That’s true because I am from the US I’m currently in Korea and yeah... I couldn’t even tell it’s Valentine’s Day tomorrow nothings here. I remember when I was a kid my mom or my dad will give me a stuffed bear for Valentine’s Day and maybe like a chocolate it’s so sweet because of course your kids so you don’t have anybody else but your parents who love you unconditionally❤️❤️ And then high school you’ll probably get some for your friends or boyfriend or girlfriend and then when you get older that’s where you have to start putting out real money. Chocolates and flowers are nice for high school but we better have a dinner or some thing else once we get older👏👏👏

I have lived a lot of years, and I've lived in a number of places i the US - there is no dress code. When you're in school (lower grades) you give cards/treats to everyoe in your class. Usually in high school the student council will do a flower sale and you can 'order' a carnation to be delivered to someone's classroom during the day and can stay anonymous if you want. As an adult I have always cedlebrated Valetines day with my girlfriends. We would all get cards and treats for each other and then have plans together in the evening.

People say some go over the top for Valentines. For the 20 years I was married, I had to. My ex-wife's birthday was Feb 14. No we are not Ex's because I forgot. She even wanted to get married on that day. Get all those lover days at once. lol
The best day was when I took her to pick out a new dress to wear. I then took her to her regular beauty salon that I had set up an appointment with. We then went out to a candle light dinner in a nice restaurant. I had them bring out a dozen red roses cake for dessert. I had bought it earlier. We then went to a hotel room with a jacuzzi in the room. There I had a meat/veggie, tray chocolate covered strawberries with whipped cream, and some sparkling grape cider, she did not drink alcohol. There was a bouquet of flowers on the table also. Was a pretty good time.

the dress code is only used at valentine's day parties!! but people like to wear a little bit of pink and red to be festive. also teachers require that kids bring valentines for every student so no one goes without any. the kids usually decorate a bag and then they bring a box of candies and, on valentine's day, each student goes around and puts candies or pencils or cards in every student's bag! valentine's day isn't just for couples in the US. i even bought chocolate for my parents and younger siblings :)

I'm not American I'm Irish but I've never heard of a valentines dress code. Pretty sure most Americans haven't either lol. It really depends on the person/couple how you spend valentines day. Some people go all out and others don't celebrate it at all. I just think of it as a reminder to do something nice/romantic for your significant other but that doesn't necessarily mean you have to spend loads of money.

Lots of people will receive EXPENSIVE gifts like diamond jewelry! It gets crazy over here in the USA. Valentine’s Day in no joke. My grandparents would give me a chocolate heart, my parents game me flowers, and if I had a significant other we would eat at a nice restaurant and exchange gifts. It gets ridiculous. In my lifetime there's been pushback against Valentine's Day as an exclusively romantic concept, especially in school settings. In my college we had ninjas deliver cards to people during class - you could send them to a crush, your SO, your friends, a teacher you liked, etc. Personally I like it better as a day to appreciate friends, mentors, anyone outside of your family who you also love. And of course there's Galentine's Day.

When the video of Valentine's Day being celebrated in the U.S was presented, even as an american, I thought it was crazy. In my opinion, that romantic celebration would only be done by those who have the ability to do so; even if someone did have the finances to pull it off that type of surprise still costs a lot of money. For most average students like me, that is impossible financially because of the costs. But yes, I do agree that Valentine's Day is special but usually people just go out for a meal or hang out after school. It's mostly about exchanging food, cards, and hanging out with friends. Also I feel like Valentine's Day isn't really a lonely holiday for those who are single because there are multiple types of love that can be received, and given.

Mainly Valentine’s Day is for couples but it can also be for platonic relationships too or just another ordinary day. Even for some couples they don’t care about the day at all meanwhile others just do simple things nothing really extravagant especially if they’ve been together long. I think if the day means something to one person in the relationship the partner should make some effort to acknowledge it and that love language of showing affection or gift giving.

I better not see any bitter ppl in the comments bashing the guy for going all out 😭 Ppl who show their love and appreciation towards someone they really love w flowers, gifts and cooking them dinner is honestly a dream🥲 Ofc this is not in everyone’s taste and yea it was a lil much as they said in the video but it was still nice. You can also do this with friends ,family or even yourself! Valentines day is a day of love so i highly recommend cherishing yourself and having a self care day (if you’re single and feel alone) 🥰

Now I fear what they would think of American Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, 4th of July...we Americans...we don’t do holidays by half. Any excuse to eat, or give gifts, or both (we really like both) is a great thing to us. We do it big.

You didn't mention, but there is also secret valentine in middle school and high school, where you can send your crush flowers or candy secretly.

I am addicted to this channel. I love every member of this channel. But I have a question. All of you seem to be really really good with English or at least understanding what seems like just any random word. Which I think is very cool. How much English do you study in school or in college or is there a lot of English in Korean culture? When I was in the Navy I was stationed part of the time in Busan, Korea. It was a military town so there’s a lot of English. Is it the same in the rest of Korea?

All I'll ever need is chocolates and a teddy bear for Valentine's, nothing else. But since I'm single, I'll be feeling the void with watching bl's.

Here in the US on Valentines day the girlfriends might get diamond jewelry, or
a brand new car, but at least flowers. I do that kind of stuff.

Im from Chile, so valentines day is not that big of a deal, couples spend it together, maybe go to have dinner somewhere you like or order something you like and give each others chocolate or flowers, and since is a Saint's day some people with the name of the Saint receive some gift, I used to be named Valentina so my mom would make a big deal out of it and I would get some messages from friends, although I almost always spent that day with my dad and his girlfriend (Sometimes her son too) in vacations so I got to be alone in the house doing nothing.
Tbh unless you have a partner or you are my mom this day is like the rest

This brings an embarrassing story to mind, in middle school we had flowers we could buy and people would deliver them during class, I bought myself one because I knew I wouldn't get one and I forgot to leave it blank and the teacher was like "this flower is for aaliyah..from aaliyah" and I was like "😳"

I think Valentine's day and Christmas might be very western holidays so it makes sense we take them seriously it's like one of the major couples days we have. I think it's great that everyone can get in on it we even have galentines day I know it's majorly capitalist but damn Americans in the comment we are a very festive country so be happy. Everyone happy Valentine's day be with loved ones and have a social distance party.
