      You can help get charging stations for the Model S and X simply by asking hotel owners and restaurant owners to take advantage of the destination chargers Tesla offers. They can go as high as 100 amps AC output and if I recal correctly I may be wrong but I believe Tesla will send the high power wall connector to the business owner free of charge unless I remember wrong. The business owner will have to pay to have the destination charger installed and when it is installed you call Tesla destination chargers people and the next update Tesla sends out to their cars will show your destination charger on the map of superchargers. This way you can get a charge while you're eating or sleeping. I would recommend most hotel/motel owners to install two destination chargers as once they are posted on the supercharger maps Tesla's will start showing up in your front yard. Also there are plenty of other charging stations out there but most are slower than the Tesla chargers. Also super markets owners can be asked to participate in the destination charger program.

    my Model S P100D is one of the best purchases i've ever made in my life. i couldn't be happier. there are so, so many little things this car does better than any other car on the road. it's a waste of time to list them all. if you haven't driven one, just go find a dealership and take a test drive. you'll understand. :)

    Ordered my X a few weeks ago. Today during our town's annual Rhododendron Festival, I had the opportunity to chat with 5 other Tesla owners who were visiting from our state's EV Club. They were nothing but positive and encouraging of my decision, gave some good pointers and helped with my concerns. So your point about the community that comes with Tesla is right on!

      I remember Tesla was doing away with the free supercharging for life at the beginning of this year and then they pushed it back to mid-January. So how does the referral actually work? I know you guys have had a referral program for awhile. Did they give you a new code specifically for this "first five who use it gets free supercharging" promotion? And after that it stops giving it away? Can you then get reissued a new code so the promo starts all over again? It's very interesting

    • @ThisWorldOfEpicness
      @ThisWorldOfEpicness 7 лет назад +3

      Model S Owner here: The way that it works is current owners can refer up to 5 people to have the free supercharging for the life of the car, in addition to a reasonable discount. The referral codes work the same as before, but the supercharging benefits only work for 5 people now. People who ordered their cars before a few days ago also get the free Supercharging for themselves, regardless of referral link use. The codes are unique to each Tesla owner, so you can't get a new one. However, the referral discount applies to unlimited referrals - it's only the Supercharging that's limited.
      The kickback for us (the referrer) is that we can get a few rewards, like the Arachnid Wheels, Solar Roof priority, a PowerWall etc. If we refer 5 people, we get a trip to the unveiling of Tesla's new car in September!

    • @djmackj
      @djmackj 7 лет назад

      Hmm.. I just looked at the "Limits" portion of the referral program in the Tesla app and it says "limit of 5 referrals per owner." You sure the referral discount applies beyond the 5th referral?

    Love that early adopter attitude. I still run across a lot of people using dated arguments in regards to EV's in general. No place to charge, the grid will fail when everyone plugs in their car. So thank you for sharing your experience as with each passing week you throw another shovel full of dirt on the graves of old arguments and dated positions.

    Such a great review !! I will be picking mine up on Tuesday, can't wait !!! That will kick out our last gasoline car. My boyfriend jumped on the Tesla wagon with the Roadster and was one of the first to drive the S in Europe. We were hesitant about the X because the first one we saw didn't look as "wow" as we had expected, but after test driving so many other cars the X grew on us. I have really enjoyed your videos - I think I've watched about 60% of them. This one, when you were talking about the Fold-flat seats... You probably already know this, but the 5-and 7 passenger variants now feature fold-flat seats. The 6 passenger variants are not clear whether or not they also fold flat.
    Also - let me second the comments about the community. I had a loaner from the gallery here, and I stopped by to charge the vehicle as part of the experience to see what owning the Tesla would be like. While charging, I met some great people who gave some great insight and advice as I considered purchasing a Tesla.
    Please keep up the video series. I'm excited to see how your experience is as your car rolls towards the 6-figure odometer readings.

    My model X P100D Ludicrous has almost 12,000 miles on it in 8 months. I love my car, and am amazed by the wonderful service from the Service center. I enjoy driving on my daily errands and short trips. I like many of the unique features of my car (Especially the white seats and ginormous windshield!). I am however very dissapointed in the build quality and several failed/failing components and systems in my car. It has been in the service center for over 2 months during my ownership. It has been in an independent bodyshop, to fix some of the factory body, paint, and system issues. It still needs more fixes to cure some of the manufacturing defects. I was looking forward to my 2 model 3's, but, I cancelled them choosing to wait until any initial factory problems have been cured. I hope Tesla gets better and grows up to be the successful , revolutionary , "Out of the box company". We all hope for. I am still a fan despite my disappointment.

The experience was so convincing I spent the next 9 months figuring out a way to buy an X - and I did in March.We also have an i3 for "in-town" driving. Love the BMW engineering and handling. Kind of quirky looking, but still a golf cart on steroids.I have found most kids 12 to 18 are very familiar with Tesla and the models - including the new Model 3. Difficult instead of using autopilot you were to engage advanced cruise control which will maintain a set speed and slow down if the vehicle in front of you slows down as far as a dead stop without you touching a pedal and will accelerate away from a dead stop up to the set speed. All you have to do Is steer. On the highway autopilot is the way to go in stop and go traffic.

    I currently have a Model S 90D and also tested a P90D on the German Autobahn at high speeds and I am absolutely a fan, even I am a car guy and usually drive V8, V10 sports cars. The 90D is my perfect daily driver that takes me to my office or clients and I always drive on autopilot and couldn't be happier with it. My friend has the Model X which is also cool, but for me the S is just sleeker. Maybe once I start a family I would get the X because the rear doors are really fantastic if you have kids. Keep it up! Great editing. You really present your videos in a professional style-audio, video, visual aids. Really excellent work! My X has a somewhat lower VIN than yours. Both front door latches are now Rev. 3 after the annual service two days ago. We have owned an S and now the X. I prefer driving the X. It is easier to enter and leave. My wife loves the power doors aka "princess" doors. The car handles beautifully and the TACC works pretty well. The only negative is that it uses about 15% more energy per mile than the S. That can up to an extra hour per day on a serious road trip.

    Amazing video again. Your X is superb. It's inspiring and I might consider trading my S (even if I like it so much) for an X in a few years when the kids won't fit in the rear-facing seats anymore. Thanks for sharing this 12 months update.

    We got our Model X 5 months ago.
    28,000 miles later the rain season in Florida is around the corner. I never used the few doors in rain...
    What is your experience with the falcon wings and heavy rain? Any suggestions how to use the doors?
    And how wind resistant are the doors?
    Congrats to your channel! 👌

    • @ItsKimJava
      @ItsKimJava  7 лет назад +3

      +Helmuth P. We used the doors during Tropical Storm Bonnie last season and they performed well. Of course if it's torrential some water gets in but I would go into controls>setting>doors I believe and change the opening height to low if you know it will be pouring that day. You can also just open the wings as usual and just press the pause button on the 17" screen midway or press your key fob to stop them from fully opening in heavy rain.

    When your kids get older and don't have a full car seat to rest their heads on long trips do you think you'll wish you would've gotten the 5/7 so they can pile a few pillows up in the second row middle seat? Having no arm wrests makes me wonder if 3 seats has an advantage when kids are out of the full car seats (or adults for that matter)

    • @ItsKimJava
      @ItsKimJava  7 лет назад

      Josh Miller car seats are now required here until around 9 years of age so I'm not sure we would still have the car in 7 years but the 7 seater is just too cramped so we would still stick with 6 I think for maximum passenger and cargo compromise.

    I dont know which model i like better. S looks really good and sporty with 2016 design. It also faster. However, the X has more cool features and tech like wings and automatic open and doors control, also space. I test drived the S P100D the speed was insane. But on the down side, my family complained about the space of back seats and i realize it does not have doors control. So i dont know, still saving up for one but dont know which one

    I have test driven the model s in different configurations. Love the car and have frinds that have the car.
    It is still an expensive car, and I am still figuring out if I wanna make a loan for the car or I will have to wait till I have the cash for it.

    Happy Anniversary! Great one-year review, with both your pluses and minuses. Overall… what's not to like? As for the falcon-wing doors, I suspect I'll get a lot of flak for saying this, but… I always thought they were more of a flashy attention grabber than a practical feature. Wouldn't a pair of nice sliding doors, like on minivans, work well enough? And then the boys would have an even better view of "helicopters" overhead through a glass roof instead of those two tiny windows. I dunno, but I would imagine that those falcon-wings are what caused so many months of delays, and jacked the price up considerably. Of course, the Happy Holidays "light-and-sound show" wouldn't be nearly as entertaining, would it? Heheheheh.

    • @ItsKimJava
      @ItsKimJava  7 лет назад +1

      +Mark D Larsen haha that's true the holiday show is at least worth 10 bucks. Elon had mentioned that he would not do sliding doors due to the fact that it would hurt aesthetics of the car as its geometry would be altered with the rails having to go through the side to support the sliding doors. But of course, you and I both know Elon has made some decisions that he certainly regrets and although we have come to enjoy the wings because of the overhead space when lifting a child into car seats I can see how others perhaps could find it annoying after some time.

    • @Yanquetino
      @Yanquetino 7 лет назад

      My understanding is that Musk came up with the idea of falcon-wing doors precisely to make it easier to put his youngest boys in their car seats. The irony is that, by the time the Model X finally went into production… those boys could already climb into their car seats and buckle up by themselves. Hahaha! I bet Landon is already at that stage, and Liam will be there soon enough. Whew! As for æsthetics and geometry, I am no engineer by any stretch of the CAD, but I think VW's I.D. Concept's sliding doors look great, and allow as large an opening from the side as the BMW i3. Well… my 2 pence worth, anyway.
