That’s part of prospecting… some days you may see something good ….and some days nothing at all ….but we never give up! Part of the fun is the Chase…. even though, we all want to see color , in every pan! ⛏⛏⛏💯💯💯
great job on the sluice. Only thing i see is if use a lower profile mat or a miner moss with screen. Wont need as much a drop to get the action and reduce build up. Them drop riffles i believe takes to much flow for a river sluice more a highbanker or dredge mat to me.
Thanks Randy, good advice. I will chop and change matting in the future, i totally agree with your advice. However i.m determined to see those drop riffles work properly before the next change in matting. It will probably end up like a keene set up, but i.m willing to play with different types first.
@@AurProspector if want to use them might can try making like a under flow add a piece of plexiglass to top of them with a classifier at front. Keep big rocks from clogging them up. It will force more water into them for better action. I dont know about there but here its all fines. Hardly every see a nugget. If dont want classified might could just add a rubber flap to help force the water downward.
The whole point of this sluice is to pump straight onto it without classification. Hence its length. If you watch my other videos i generally classify to 1 inch and use a 2ft plastic step riffle. Here we have all size gold, not much flour, usually chunky and there is no black sand or heavies, so it is a very different environment to what you are use too i.m sure. .but thanks for your advice i do take it all in.

I've often thought about the point you made about when the sluice has no material being fed in compared to bigger mining operations and would it be worth while having the dirt stockpiled
You seen mine running in videos 5ft long I cut 20" off it as it was too labour intensive carrying it and finding a spot where I could build a dam with a good 5"or 6" drop . So that's my experience
Yes, your sluice should catch it all in the 1st 6" or it isn.t working right. In most of my vids you will only see me using a 2ft long sluice, if i need a sluice at all. Long sluices are generally used because of reduced clean ups therfore allowing gold migration due to the rffles filling. In most cases us hobby prospectors clean our sluices every few buckets, due to heavies or just wanting the gold out of it, so no need for any length.
Thanks man, i got plenty of short sluices, this was just one of them constructions thats evolves over the years, its been short before its long now, its not really useful for day to day prospecting but i show it off now and again at whatever format its in at the time..
@@AurProspector If you choose to have it that long and cannot get it to work , then change your matting to something that will. Perhaps something like V rib - It needs much less energy to work , but may need cleaning much more often - or not , if the lower half your sluice does work as it should
@@mohammednovalija This is my evolution sluice it will undergo mat changes and other modifications though its evolution, if there was gold in that bar it would of caught it
I'd like to ask a question but I am not being stroppy or complaining or wanting to cause upset. How come you get to dig up stream beds and no one screams "Oh wildlife! Oh habitats! Oh causing erosion!" and other such complaints? I promise I'm not being a stroppy cow xxx
Hi Tina, the fish like a disturbed gravel bar, they can reach nutrients not normally assessable to them. When the river is in a spate or flood it will move whole gravel bars like it was nothing. ..and also fill a gold panners hole very quickly. So no damage is being done that mother nature wouldn.t do a 1000 times more. However there is a line not to cross!! ..and that is digging banks!! They do not repair themselves with mother nature! That is a big No No! However digging alluvial gravels does no harm at all. I hope that rests your mind somewhat.
Great video Jason as always shame it didn't work out this time, the reason for a blank do you think it was the sluice or lack of gold in that spot, it looked like you shifted a fair amount of stuff thou.. how did you do in the end from your jollies in scotland
Cheers Steve, Scotland was a great trip and i did twice as well as the previous yr. There is no gold in the gravel bars in this area, if i could get to the bedrock or clay bottom then i may of got some, but i was no where near. If you watch the tailings dirt it is biological decay rather than mineralised or clay based material. I hoped for a few specs but it wasn.t to be, however the object of the exercise was to test the big sluice in operation. I know it will catch gold as you can see on its previous outing. Hopefully its 3rd outing it will run correctly and catch me some gold
