  • Dellorto Carb Setup Tips - Beginners Strip Down Guide - Vespa & Lambretta Carburettor Jetting
The Targa was having a bad-carb day, so I opted for a strip down and check. Whilst in there, I took the time to offer a few basic setup tips for beginners.
The PHBH is possibly the most underrated carb for Lambretta & Vespa scooters, repeatedly overlooked in favour of more ‘exotic’ setups. Yet the PHBH is affordable, available, easy to set up, and has a great balance of cost vs performance vs fuel economy. Plus, for the vast majority of scooter owners, there are some very repeatable ‘base settings’ which you can use, for around 90% of all scooters, in order to get your ballpark starting point to work from and go on to perform plug chops with. There are also some crucial mistakes you must not make, as these can kill an engine very quickly if not followed.

Good quick introductory video but worth mentioning is one critical factor and that is float height. Dellorto have set float heights for set carburettors and if you don’t check this height - especially if buying second hand - it could be set too high causing fuel starvation and conversely, set too low could cause flooding.
All of which I am sure you know but want to make viewers aware of this. Bolti

Hi. Have learnt a lot from your channel. Thank you. Question. Vespa. Lml reed valve case. Pinassco 177 kit. Sip road 2. Phbh 28. Carb. I have the carb sitting at about 1 o’clock position. Banjo on the high side. Not parallel with the ground. Otherwise it will hit the body. Do you see this being a problem? Thanks

Hi mate, I have a honda crm 125, it runs perfectly a part from cold, I put the choke on and it fires up straight away, as soon as I drop the choke off it stalls and cuts out, I have to warm the bike up with choke full on for around 4/5 minutes before it will tick over, once it does warm up it’s absolutely fine will start and tick over, it’s just on the cold starts, like it isn’t getting enough fuel on tick over when cold, it uses the PHBH 28 carb, do you have an idea on what’s happening? Thank you

Hi, could you just give me a rough idea what a 34mm carb jetting needs to be for a sst265, for our climate, as I think out of the box from rimminni the settings are a bit too rich.
    Cheers.

Hi, I'm currently restoring a 1962 li150. It has no Carb and I was thinking of running a phbh30. It has a "swift" exhaust and no other engine work.
I'll be running no air filter, do you have any recommended settings I could use as a starting point please?
    Thanks

Hi ya I’ve got the same make carburettor but my one is a 34… My question is I’ve got a little brass looking screw or something and it’s dripping fuel. Can you show me what it is and how to fix it please. Maybe do a video of it would help if you have a 34 carburettor. Many thanks as you may tell I don’t know a lot at all about carburettors.

Its a spray tube and its designed to smooth out pulses on a 2 stroke . but its not needed if you run reeds .. as in the dellorto manual there is no two stroke or 4 stroke carb they are the same , only some components are changed such as spray tube .

Hiya could you help. Ive rebuilt my standard 200 lambretta, phbh30 and a pm pipe. I'm just trying to find My base settings.
    Carb set up.
    Inlet 350
    40 slide
    X7 needle on 2nd clip
    Av266
    120 main
    50 pilot
    60 choke.
Do you think I need to go x13, 55 pilot to start. What size main jet and needle clip would you recommend. Top videos BTW 👍

    • @drunkmunkey6969
      @drunkmunkey6969  5 месяцев назад

Start with 55p and 125m - other settings seem OK as a starting point. Do road tests and plug chops at varying throttle positions in order to refine.
