I finished the last episode of Banana Fish yesterday. I ended up crying to sleep. Banana Fish is a masterpiece containing very sensitive and triggering topics but executed properly. It shows just how corrupt the world is. It shows a story with a different prespective that was never exposed to the public. The ending still messes me up everytime I think about it.

The worst part of all is that Ash has always wanted to die, but then the second he found out that he wanted to live for someone else he gets stabbed and dies.
And yet he chose to die thinking it’s better for Eiji, at least he died in a place he liked with a letter from who he loves the most.

i think ash CHOSE to die in the end..he knew eiji was in somewhere safe and he longer had to worry about anything...golzine was dead, so was arthur, and all the bad guys he knew...no one could hurt him or anyone he cared about anymore...so he chose to die peacefully...think about it, he is ash. the guy who survived bullet wounds and fatal stabs in the most vital parts in the human body and he dies by just one small stab in his stomach? he chose not to go the hospital too.
Ash believed his life was complete and fulfilled that's why he chose to die.
He's not dead if we are talking about anime he lived there is so many hints that prove he's alive but yeah in manga he's dead In anime It's up to you what u wanna think about...

Banana Fish was a treat. Every anime op that Survive Said The Prophet does, are absolute masterpieces. Recently, they did Vinalnd Saga's opening "Mukanjyo" and it's another top tier anime.

The name comes from Salinger's short story A Perfect Day for Bananafish, a really good one in my opinion, about 'crazy'ex-soldier who told a little girl about the life of a greedy bananafish

Man, Japan never disappoints when it comes to this kind of music. Most of my favorite American bands that did this style of music have grown softer over the time and while I still like their music, it's been hard to find bands that satisfy this particular musical need lol.

the anime talks about a LOT of heavy topics and has a lot of death and blood involved I would recommend looking at what the recommended age is before watching it. The anime has helped me through so much and changed the way I look at my self and the world around me. But man has it brought me pain. Just prepare to cry your eyes out and feel empty for the rest of your life.

yes this is so important thank you!! a lot of other people have recommended bf without giving proper trigger warnings (no shade to them, it probably didn’t cross their mind) but please be aware this is a really heavy show. as well as blood and death it also discusses r/pe, p/dophilia, sex trafficking and the like. it's a fantastic show but please be careful!

最近嫌なことしか無くて学校行くのも辛くて勉強も人間関係もめちゃくちゃで誰にも悩みを言えなくて家で1人で泣いて全て嫌になってた時にCMでサバプロの曲を聴いて体に衝撃が走りました。毎日朝と夜寝る前に聞いて元気もらっています！私の生きがいです。
Man it’s really hard to listen to this song and NOT cry….every time I hear this song everything about it is so beautiful it’s about bananafish it fits so perfectly too but the song ITSELF is so beautiful it’s tears me up.. the instrumental, the vocals ,lyrics, everything. It’s been 5 years and I am yet to not feel emotional to this song.

This song is perfect with the anime’s opening introduction. I love the guitar riff and the chorus. The scenes and backgrounds are rendered so beautifully. To someone who grew up in NYC, this anime brings back so many memories of seeing the sunrise and sunset while riding the subway over the bridge, wandering through the streets, and the people I’ve known and met. This anime and manga brought Ash, Eiji, Shorter, and their friends to life with such emotional realism. Shorter and Cain remind me of my friends. Skip reminds me of my former students. Ash and Eiji remind me of friends and classmates from college.
I've always wondered how it's like to ppl who lived in NYC to see BF set in their city, I guess this is the answer

わたしは持病を持っていて、治療が辛くて時々精神的にへこんで負けそうになる時があって、
そんな辛い時の感じが、
夕焼け空のビルの上でアッシュが頭を抱えて気が狂ったように叫ぶシーンがあって、その姿がまるでわたしの分身のようでした…
でもどんな状況でも生き抜いていく気持ちや前向きな心を持ち続けなくてはいけないと、
この曲から、そして物語の登場人物、アッシュ達からも勇気をもらっていいます。
