I finished the last episode of Banana Fish yesterday. I ended up crying to sleep. Banana Fish is a masterpiece containing very sensitive and triggering topics but executed properly. It shows just how corrupt the world is. It shows a story with a different prespective that was never exposed to the public. The ending still messes me up everytime I think about it.

Banana Fish was a treat. Every anime op that Survive Said The Prophet does, are absolute masterpieces. Recently, they did Vinalnd Saga's opening "Mukanjyo" and it's another top tier anime.
The worst part of all is that Ash has always wanted to die, but then the second he found out that he wanted to live for someone else he gets stabbed and dies.
And yet he chose to die thinking it’s better for Eiji, at least he died in a place he liked with a letter from who he loves the most. Anyway, I’m gonna go cry now
i think ash CHOSE to die in the end..he knew eiji was in somewhere safe and he longer had to worry about anything...golzine was dead, so was arthur, and all the bad guys he knew...no one could hurt him or anyone he cared about anymore...so he chose to die peacefully...think about it, he is ash. the guy who survived bullet wounds and fatal stabs in the most vital parts in the human body and he dies by just one small stab in his stomach? he chose not to go the hospital too. Ash believed his life was complete and fulfilled that's why he chose to die.
He's not dead if we are talking about anime he lived there is so many hints that prove he's alive but yeah in manga he's dead In anime It's up to you what u wanna think about...

I don't know if you knew it but, at the beginning of the song, a woman's voice is heard saying "Reporting to units 3121, reporting to units 3121", this code is used in the case of rape of minors. When I found out, I felt very sad again for Ash, he didn't deserve anything he suffered as a child.😞

I think a lot of people have been initially driven off this anime without watching it simply because of it's name. My personal advice? Definitely give it a try.
Well... there is a LOT of gay sex. And at least I feel a romantical connection between Keji and Ash But it's not IN YOUR FACE yaoi. I actually just kinda shrugged at the name/cover/weird art-style and only gave it a try after I heard of it having "gay overtones" because it was so unexpected
The name comes from Salinger's short story A Perfect Day for Bananafish, a really good one in my opinion, about 'crazy'ex-soldier who told a little girl about the life of a greedy bananafish

i finally could figure out why i cried so much just thinking abt ash's death, and its bc the anime is so real, it addresses topics so real in rl and the character's personality felt so true, his death feel like a real person's death and it hurts. every thing abt this anime is good, is all well done

Man it’s really hard to listen to this song and NOT cry….every time I hear this song everything about it is so beautiful it’s about bananafish it fits so perfectly too but the song ITSELF is so beautiful it’s tears me up.. the instrumental, the vocals ,lyrics, everything. It’s been 5 years and I am yet to not feel emotional to this song.
Man, Japan never disappoints when it comes to this kind of music. Most of my favorite American bands that did this style of music have grown softer over the time and while I still like their music, it's been hard to find bands that satisfy this particular musical need lol.
I never realized this American / British rock is mostly mixed genres now or a lot more subtle on that distinct electric guitar I feel like maybe not idk

I think a lot of people have been initially driven off this anime without watching it simply because of it's name. My personal advice? Definitely give it a try.

Man it’s really hard to listen to this song and NOT cry….every time I hear this song everything about it is so beautiful it’s about bananafish it fits so perfectly too but the song ITSELF is so beautiful it’s tears me up.. the instrumental, the vocals ,lyrics, everything. It’s been 5 years and I am yet to not feel emotional to this song.
Man, Japan never disappoints when it comes to this kind of music. Most of my favorite American bands that did this style of music have grown softer over the time and while I still like their music, it's been hard to find bands that satisfy this particular musical need lol.
