I removed the clip, cleaned out the gears, easily move the gears with my hand, tested it with my 9V , WHEELS ARE TURNING!!!!! Thank you I think you solve the problem. Should I lube? It look very dry. I have Walters Light, Gear, Medium and NLGL 1 grease. I have only ran this loco for an hour. Thank you for time!!!!!! Please make that video. You are appreciated!!!!!

Glad it's working! Thank you for the kind words! I would suggest using just a few drops of light oil on the gears they don't need to much! KATO stuff seems to run forever as long as you keep just a little bit of oil on the gears!

Pulled the truck! I found a lot of graphite from changing the couples to Kadee #158. Cleaned it out but not sure.I tested the motor with a 9V battery. The motor turns but wheels are stiff and will turn only when forced. They make a sound when turning.I'm not sure how to disassemble the motor at this point. Sorry to be a pain. Maybe I should call Kato. Thanks for your help! To help new people to the hobby, you should make a video On P42 maintenance. Do you think lubing the motor or wheels will help?

No problem at all! You do have to be careful when lubricating stuff like that and make sure you don't use the wrong lube or over lubricate. Coups be an issue of the gears being miss aligned. The bottom cover of the truck can be removed fairly easily with a tiny flat head screw driver. If you look closely you can see some of the clip points where the cover is held in place!

Well I brought 2 HO scale 50 anniversary back in February. The #100 midnight blue rear wheels stopped moving!!!!! Have you had this problem before? Warranty expired March 16!!! Lucky Me!!!! Any ideas.

Could be a poor contact issue. Either the contact plates that run through the frame are bent a little bit and not making good contact or something might be a dirty. I would say take the rear truck apart and check the wires going to the motor and check all the contacts. Like I talked about in the video these truck sets can actually run completely by them selves and they are super easy to disassemble and reassemble so it makes pin pointing an issue easy!
