the idealization is actually in the second half where she says she cant find a picture where they look how she remembers - because how they looked in her mind was different and she isnt remembering accurately, she's putting them on a pedestal. the self-knowledge comes in with "you know me better than i do" and depending on this person to know what she really wants even when she doesnt, and asking them to fix everything and just paint it over
