Will Farage win in Clacton? | The News Agents

- We’re in Clacton-on-Sea today. So, coincidentally, is Nigel Farage the new leader of the Reform party and prospective parliamentary candidate.
We caught up with him, with the ex-leader Richard Tice, and with their Conservative opponent Giles Whatling. We also hear from people in the town about what they make of the latest offering from Farage. Can his soap box speeches stand up to scrutiny on any single policy?

It's uncanny how the most deprived areas tend to be the most masochistic
What Cornwall?
They are opposed to open borders Globalisation that is hollowing out the West from the bottom up.
They are deprived because they are unintelligent, mostly. The average Brit is not very bright, half the country is worse, by definition....
He is in the best position . He can play to the popular vote and promise the world .
But never have to deliver as he would not be in government to implement eg.
Brexit.
& can always blame others
In 2017 the leader of UKIP - Paul Nuttall came to Stoke-on-Trent to stand in the By-election. He thought that he could win in one of the most Brexity Cities in the UK. Stoke also had a history of support for UKIP councillors previously.
There was tons of media focus. We had a new Labour candidate (not a star by any means - he lost in 2019).
But there was a big effort here. Many of us joined in with delivering leaflets and knocking on doors.
And we won. Nuttall lost.
Now admittedly Paul Nuttall is no Nigel Farage - but this does demonstrate what can be achieved with effort.
The day of the result announcement was one of the best in my life.
My advice to those who don't support Farage but live in Clacton area is - get out there and fight for every single vote.
Most people have fled East London as it collapsed into Mogadishu
Farage insulted them a few weeks ago, saying he wouldn't want to spend his Friday nights in Clacton. But all he has to do is sprinkle a bit of anti-woke stuff, bit of "you're the most patriotic town in the UK", and they are eating out of his hand. Absolute contempt from Nigel of course, but come on people have some self-respect
Why don't you actually look into context of that statement?
Nope that boat sailed a while ago 🫤
Shut up Meg.
"I said I'd put Clacton on the map and, well, now it is" made me burst out laughing. I genuinely don't know if he was being ironic or not.
Can you see how visibly uncomfortable these two are around poor white people
Tyce talked about what they do in business “we make a decision, we monitor it and if we don’t like it we tweak it, we change it….”. But he won’t accept that MO when it comes to Brexit.
They aren’t interested in Clacton or the people but only interested in themselves.
It’s tragic for that community.
That's because we left the EU, remember, you been asleep?
@@elainetrigg1889 lol
The irony will never be lost on me that those who voted most enthusiastically for Brexit are those it's hurt the most.

I feel for the people of Clacton. I am reminded of those bits of folklore where the Devil comes to visit a particular village for fun.
Boarded up shops, vape shops and "Turkish" barbers - that's not just faded seaside towns, that's most towns in England!
I live in Crewe and that description could have been taken straight from Crewe's TripAdvisor!!
If you've ever been to Clacton, you will know that he will win. Easily.
That bad?
He will if people bother to turn out & vote. Voter apathy will be the biggest problem at this election.

No we live in areas destroyed by mass replacement migration.
'Is this not the most patriotic town in Britain?' What a rabble-rouser. And he starts wittering about the war and pride in our past. Utter scoundrel.
The only thing I feel about Farage is repulse
One can trace *all* of this back to poor education and poor education policy.

I really can't stand the idea that farage is part of our political landscape. He is utterly abysmal. Makes me want to leave the UK.
Two minutes of listening to Giles Watling snd I'm convinced....
Farage will win!

I think Nigel would find plenty of other British towns are more patriotic.
Just a couple of examples.

It makes one wonder why they stay here when their are so many places they could live under the oppression they support.

Try and talk Nigel, Richard or Reform down all you like Emily and Jon, but Nigel is going to win in Clacton and Reform are going to end up with the 3rd largest share of the vote.
23:51 is a prime example of how left/centre journalism works. Ask a loaded question you won't reflect on, don't accept the response, ask another loaded question cutting off the response and repeat. A response which is perfectly reasoned and questioning it as illogical. Bravo Richard for the way you handled that mess of an interview 😂
You are totally wrong.

He won't be on Clacton at all.

He's going to win, and it's incredibly depressing.
He wont win.
Somebody tell Emily and Sopel that having a shoddy house built by people that don't really want to do so doesn't mean that building houses is an inherently bad idea. The media is detached from reality.
These media shills are a huge part of the problem. They are doing the bidding of their masters.
Where are all the hit pieces on their lefty allies. Where are the insulting epithets about the islamists and charlatans in Labour?
I genuinely used to respect Emily Maitlis, but the total one-sided hit job against Farage here is disgusting. I say this as someone who has never voted for him or supported him. What appals me is that she doesn't apply such severe scrutiny to those who hold elected office in the House of Commons. Sad to see someone so entirely captured and partisan
It's why she left the BBC.
Looked like a Trumpty Dumpty and Gym Jordan Tribute Band, lots of noise and no content.
He’s a complete narcissist
No!
Matlis is supposed to be unbiased, she's a disgrace to journalism.
👍
What, like GB News and Talk TV are supposed to be unbiased? This is The News Agents not the BBC. They don't have to be neutral - they can and do have a political point of view.
@@npj943 I've got no issue with that. But be transparent with it. Don't feed misinformation. GB News, Talk, Sky, BBC, News Agents... they all do it! To be fair to LBC they have an open split of bias and the presenters are very open about it. Just be straight up and don't spin news with lying... that includes Farage and every other politician too!
They dont all work for Gb news.
No she isn't. This isn't the BBC.
Why would they regret voting for Brexit? It's doubtful any economic hit from Brexit disruption would filter through to the average UK citizen. We're talking a rounding error in terms of UK cash.
The entire western world is going through a post-covid slump, it would seem rather obtuse for them to continually blame all of it on Brexit.
The worst journalists
It’s quite evident from the rhetoric John and Emily use that they are totally prejudice towards Nigel, John even stooped as low as to comment on the table Nigel stood on to address the crowd saying, “he used a pub beer table” so what John, he Also attempted to belittle Nigel’s colleague for holding a pa speaker on his head so people at the back could hear better, John is allegedly a seasoned reporter but you wouldn’t think so.
These two are behaving like a pair of over grown school children point scoring on anything to do with Nigel.
Nigel probably drew a crowd that any high profile politician could only hope for saying “all those who turned out were not from Clayton, SO WHAT I don’t think it actually matters.
I doubt that any other politician in this country could draw a crowd this large on a campaign opening as Nigel did here in Clayton, well done Nigel.
The large crowd simply proves how thick the people of clacton are to support this charlatan
Well Mark, I expect you’d also say that 17000,000 voters for Brexit were thick as well, I’d say that decent turnouts always indicate what people want at that time, they’re not thick they are sick and tired of promises that never come to fruition, I would never call you thick for your opinion or views as your entitled to them.
I just wouldn’t agree with you because I wouldn’t like to be wrong.

The (I'll call it) fear of foreigners that you average ageing Farage fan is just so massively ignorant. We haven't have a replacement level of births in this country since 1973. In six years time every baby boomer will be sixty five or more years old. The thing keeping the working age population up is the immigration. Without working age population there's a smaller tax base and fewer people to get stuff done, including caring for the old people. Wisdom does not automatically come with age.
You forgot to add that immigrants are key to JustEat/Deliveroo takeaway deliveries, excess numbers of 'turkish' barber shops undercutting (pun intended) British barbers to name a couple of the benefits... vital public service and paying plenty of taxes, right?
@@Skandoro No not "forgot", I implied it with "people to get stuff done", by which I mean exactly that. Without working age population you have a shortage of barbers, binmen and bricklayers. Everything basically and people in their 70's still need all the services.

@16.47: The analysis of Farage was pretty accurate, and not much different from Trump's M.O. Target the poor but keep it vague on policy of how to improve their situation, just simply blame their plight on equally poor immigrants. The trick is to convince them he's doing this all for their benefit.
I went to Clacton as a child, most often with my dad, and the memorable part of the journey was past Colchester where a red rectangular road sign with lighted arrow proclaimed "Harwich for the Continent." and some wag had written underneath, "And Frinton for the Incontinent."
Yes! I grew up in this area when times were better for sure.
I was brought up near Colchester and went swimming at Holland-at-Sea which is part of Clacton. I doubt you can swim there now. Clacton needs someone better than NF. He is just a show pony. The voters of Clacton won't be any better off with him as their MP.
I agree with that man. I also get depressed by GB News. Not in the same way I suspect.
His will be an collective IQ test for Clacton.
I dont fancy their chances.
Let’s not forget Farage said Truss’ and Kamikaze’s budget was “the best Conservative budget since 1986”, but yeah if Farage was running things everything would be great. You can live off magic beans can’t you?
