Brain fuck
Some of these are computer generated and made to look familiar
When I was in kindergarten, we had several closed rooms at our school, from outside they looked like normal boring storage rooms with no windows. But one day I don't remember how but somehow me and couple of friends sneaked into one of those rooms and we were awestruck by what we found in there. Those rooms were full of toys we had never seen or even imagined before, there were strange kind of toys, something from out of the world. The walls between the rooms had open holes through which we could go from one room to another, each room had unique set of toys and playhouses. We spent hours playing in those rooms while people outside were searching for us. To this day I wonder if that was real or a dream.
We had a hallway running the length of our school that were always dark and the ceilings were dripping from the pipes on the roof. No electricity or anything. All you could hear were machines running from the boiler room. I think the boiler room must have been behind the hallway. It stretched on for a long while. But for some reason Although there wasn’t any light, the further on the tunnel went the more dark it got. then there was a window at the end of the hallway. And it always had this weird yellow glow from the lights inside. There was always a woman sitting behind a desk. She always wore the same green cardigan. It was the most hideous color and to this day that specific color of green makes me physically ill and I feel panicky. I would go to her office and sit with her, but for some reason I always felt dread around her. Fear. She had the coldest blue eyes I had ever seen. I always called her Miss Emma. The funny thing was that on the opposite end of this office (which had nothing in it except her desk and an old filing cabinet) there was a door that lead back into what looked like the beginning of the long hallway. But then it lead to the boiler room. Anyway. My point is this: years later I was talking to a girl who went to school with me and I said “hey remember that creepy hallway” And she had no idea what I was talking about. She also had no idea who the woman behind the desk was. So I asked a few other people I went to school with. No one had any memory of this hallway, and no one had ever seen this woman with the green sweater. No one had ever heard of a “Miss Emma”. And now I’m questioning everything. All our other memories line up but that hallway? No one knows what the hell I’m talking about.

@@penguinan2456 I could start a whole RUclips channel just of stories from that place. Abuse at the hands of teachers, people with guns just walking in off the street because we had no security, creepy closed off rooms, weird things happening at night, the list goes on and on. The place was bad enough that when I graduated from that middle school, I made a point to never go out of my way to associate with anyone still attending. The place was evil. You could just feel it in the air. Now as an adult I was invited to a reunion for all the kids who graduated in 2012. I won’t be going. I never even speak the name of that place, let alone admit to going there. I can’t imagine reliving those years. Even seeing old faces would just feel wrong. It would be like seeing ghosts. @@elemental7726 1:20 is a 1980's sanitorium located in Ukraine called "sanitorium ingul"
I hate that you said this
The reason these photos are disturbing.
1. No people. There is not a single person in any of these photos. It is creepy because in places like an airport or a mall, there are usually tons of people. But in these photos, there are none.
2. “Abandoned” feeling. most of these photos look like abandoned facilities, (ex. The pool, mall, airport, the school looking building). that would creep anyone out because abandoned building give of some sort of vibe that is like you would not flinch if a 8 foot tall monster were present.
3. Dreams. These photos resemble a dreamscape very accurately. The brain cannot replicate a place, but it can attempt to. These photos resemble what the brain would create when dreaming (for example, imagine you were dreaming about your pool in the local YMCA. A dream might very well create an dreamscape like the creepy pool photo)
4. The music. The music makes everything more atmospheric, adding a ton more creepiness.
There. Hope you liked me wasting my time commenting.
Biggerhead What exactly do you mean by “dreams can’t replicate places accurately.” A lot of dreams I have seem to take place in places I know like my house and they look just like them.
@@zarthy4169 there's simply know way your brain could replicate your house perfectly. Like, theres no way. You cant create frozen images in your brain. That's un-natural. The only reason it might've looked exactly like your house is because you filled it in with your waking memory.
Soul Cream I had a dream last night where my Mom and I were buying ice cream from an ice cream truck on the sidewalk across from my house. I guess it just replicates them well enough for me not to notice.
who?
@@zarthy4169 the way how you probably dream your house perfectly is because you've been around the house for god who knows how long so your brain can perfectly make it in your dreams
One terrifying area that will forever be engrained into my head is the subway area from that musical parody of wizard of oz (someone please remind me what it is!). Especially the scene where she escapes but starts to just hear the loud footsteps from the subway. It’s so well lit and kept together, which makes it more eerie.
That room at 0:40 looks like a room from a dream I had. In the dream, my mom and I were looking at houses to potentially buy. When we toured one house, we walked into the master bedroom and it was so cramped and stuffy, like the picture shown, that you felt uneasy inside of it. The air smelled moldy and damp, and there was only one tiny window at the end of the room that provided no natural light whatsoever. The furniture in the room was this all this heavy and bulky dark wood furniture that made you feel claustrophobic.
It's almost like in every image, there's an invisible person hiding in it, and you just know they're there, but you can't see them.

Don’t say that... that just put a bad image in my head that you can’t take out.
Humans are social creatures by default, even people who claim to be “introverts” or “antisocial” tend to subconsciously WANT human interaction in their lives, they are just not good at obtaining it so they just give up and feel unhappy for the rest of their lives, even if they trick themselves at thinking “they are happy being alone” . You sir, have presented the worst fate than death anyone could have: a hell alone.
That’s actually I believe how hell looks like, but I mean everyone has their own hell so
They look familiar because most of these pics are of things weve all been to like school, a pool, a mall, apartment buildings, the airport...and the fear is from the creepy music and feeling alone or isolated.
Oddly enough, 1:00 does actually look very similar to this dream I once had as a child. I was at school, yet the building was totally different, and I remember walking out doors like these. Outside was more sunny, but still. Nice!
I had a dream similar to that but I was outside
i had a dream like that as well :p the lighting was the exact same and i was outside
These feel more dreamscape-y than strangely familiar. I don't "remember" being there, but the architecture is lifeless and imposing like it is in a dream. The lack of written words (you can't read the same sign twice in a dream because there's no object permanence), lack of people, geometric simplicity, and tarnished colors are likely the cause of this "backrooms" feel.
1:55 is a good example

Funny part is, 1:40 is a part of the backrooms. A place with no escape and with levels that are mostly limital spaces. What are limital spaces you may ask? They're places that look familiar and give you both nostalgic and creepy vibes. It feels like you've been there before, but they look a bit off, empty, unfinished. Why? Because there isn't a single person there. Thats what gives it a limital vibe.

I can define these places, they are called liminal spaces which are spaces that are the threshold between reality and dreams, these images use the feelings of autophobia which is the fear of being alone. So whilst being in a liminal space you feel like people are with you but in reality nobody is there. liminal spaces also hold memories, these memories are full of nostalgia, while looking at these pictures you can feel like you have been there before but actually you have been there in your dreams, that's why they seem so familiar and seem like they hold memories.

I didnt have familiar feels in this places, i got familiar feelings in countryside pictures, the mountains, the big sky, the old house, the farm, the rivers, the small town... They give intense flashbacks
This video/music reminds me of the film It Follows.
The fact these places are all empty is part of what makes this unnerving (the other part is the music!)
This is actually terrifying the pictures are always dark and have no people in them

This feels like being the only player on an old multiplayer game with long dead servers... just like that game called no players online
I remember years ago entering a random server of Valve's Ricochet (I got a Valve pack and it was included) and it being totally abandoned made me have some strange feelings
@@diegoab5280 Same but in roblox. I was entering this old famous game. There were only 200 players there. But when i joined, it was empty. Nobody there. Maybe i joined an empty server? I don't know.

The scariest thing a human can think of is fear of the “unknown” This video is a clear example on how the mind can run wild.
Like my dreams are effing houses with people in it but are dead and a spiritual ghost paranormal dreams well that's what happens when I sit with my family and watch paranormal shows I get these dreams
Also one of these I watched had the exact same neiborhood I saw in my dream but it was in the noon and 8t was the house I was talking about so basically your brain gos through some eerie things and I hate it I like the school dreams I have through 90% the time I guess why is cause I m behind on online school and my brain thinks about school half the time when I'm sleeping
Lol the entire time I just thought "oh a playground" "oh a mall" "oh a park" while enjoying the chill industrial music.
CLOUDY THEMAN I had a sleep paralysis nightmare where I was on a bright hill staring directly at the sun.
@@ChrisJones-rd4wb same man lmao, now everyone is scared of something, some people discover what they're scared of. The thing is I still havent found a damn thing I'm scared of yet.
That last one is what gets me, you don't know how deep the water below is and you don't know how fast it's flowing, I fear falling in and getting carried away in the darkness
All of these areas feel completely normal and familiar to me. It's a very strange feeling, seeing familiarly in a place that you know for certain you have never seen in your life. Just about every one of these areas looks like a dreamscape. Some are bland, seemingly flat with zero texture or personality to them, some are dark, some are bright, some look like different things mashed together into something new. It's because your brain is trying to replicate a mix of everything you see in your day-to-day life on that day. It takes things you see when you're awake, and projects them in the dream they way they look as a result of your subconscious mind's reaction to them. And yet it's not scary to me. If anything, it seems normal and even comforting. Despite the complete and utter barren-ness of every single area, it feels welcome. Some of them are a bit unnerving, but that's all. These areas are more like a blank canvas, or a map in a game with no assets inside. Notice how the insides of houses have no furniture at all, and everything in general looks run-down or barebones. These areas are just the first step in a dream. It's up to you to fill that map with your mind. It's just that these dreamscapes look strange without them. Even then, you may not fill that landscape at all. It may remain empty. Perhaps the way it seems familiar is because a lot of us think the same, and so our subconscious creates a dreamscape a lot similar to other people's. Ever noticed how in your dreams, when tasked to do something, it makes total sense to you, and doesn't seem the least bit ridiculous? These dreamscapes may make perfect sense to you while dreaming.
*I officially hate this*

As a security officer in RL, The music isn't unsettling, even at night this wouldn't really creep me out but the absence of any life, that can become unsettling. Nobody around, you hear a noise "What was that?"
Interesting
@@chriss7 trust me. Some locations we are contracted to have us only watching say a drop-off/pick-up area and you're there til midnight waiting for one truck. I've listened to music like this there and it didn't creep me out, just the absence of anything living besides me.
@@XemnasO01X I can understand that, it feels sort of uncomfortable so when I hear nothing in let's say my room at night I listen to some tunes.
You're just in the empty establishment waiting, and then you hear some creepy noise, you look up creeped out and as you're about to ask yourself "What was that?" you hear a voice, in the same room as you go
"What was that?"
As a student I was a security guard in many random buildings in a city at night. At first it used to be slightly unnerving being there, then, since nothing usually ever happened on my watch, it became oddly comfortable.
