I'm a 72 year old movie and TV addict and was bitten by that film bug long ago. Thanks for this episode. I had never seen it before but I sure remember Bill Elliott.
Dub Taylor's voice is absolutely unmistakable! Even if you don't know his name you know you've seen and heard this guy somewhere before! Wild Bill Elliot came before my time or awareness. But after watching this forgotten western and doing a little Wikipedia reading on him he will forever be ingrained in my mind😊.
Ii sure do love these westerns. They remind me of the good ol' times. I'm sure that times have changed a lot of things, but it's a look in the right direction.
Thanks for posting. I'm a huge fan of Elliott and recently have watched a great many Turner Classic movies in which his distinctive face and features flit by quickly but memorably. I think the earliest was about 1930.
I'm horse crazy n will westerns for hours, so I'm thankin ya all for providing shows that never made the big time. It's hard to find good family entertainment without violence. The Old West was a violent time but just the same it's nice to c pure family entertainment for the whole family! Thankx for the great shows, n keep em comin!
Dub Taylor, great character actor, mostly westerns. But also had a great role in Bonnie & Clyde. His son, Buck Taylor is also a great western actor. Played Newly on Gunsmoke for a few years and was in movies like Tombstone, Gettsyburg, The Sacketts.
Dub Taylor was an incredible actor. So natural in all his roles. He could play mean or nice or funny. But sometimes his funny was not written well and it wasn't good. I can see why thy didn't pick up the show but I think they had room to grow into a better show. That is for the upload. It's so much better than just about any post 1970 show. 🙏
That America is gone. The "me" generation has taken over and us old timers, the few of us left are the last remaining vestiges of a far better time. And it's not only America, but the entire planet infected with "ME".
wow,it's great to see wild bill Elliott and dub taylor in a tv western series.it's a pity it didn't take off. It's great to see Unaired pilot for a tv series.
Hello Mr Terry, Love the Maers Leg Hanging Behind You!. I Have one that’s a Toy Frim Steve Mcqueens -Dead or Alive. Something from my Childhood as I’m 66 Yrs old . Thank You For Such Great Work Bob !👊🏼💪🏼✌🏼.
Typical 50s TV western for kids, and I ought to know: I was one of those kids. In those days, millions of Americans could recall these old western days. This character named Cannonball brings back memories: that is what they called me in the 60s.
This is the first time I have ever seen this played since I Played it has a kid in Woolton in the 40s on the waste ground behind the "Bear Brand " factory we called it duck eggs if you wern't careful you could end up with badly bruised fingers & lose finger nails. Cheers Tippo. UK. GB.
Wild Bill Elliott, really held up his own during the "Cowboy Renaissance" period. He was competing with, "Rocky" Lane, Bob Steele, "Tim" McCoy, "Ken" Maynard, "Hopalong" Cassidy, Randolph Scott, Ward Bond, (My personal favorites), Tex Ritter, "Buster" Crabbe, John Wayne, Henry Fonda, Alan Ladd and a host of others for screen time. For a pilot to kick off a series, this was kind of mundane, considering it was in the later 7 years or so of his career, I was surprised he didn't get better writers and producers. I can see why this series never took off.
The guy playing Red is actor Bill Kennedy. Around 1956 Bill eventually moved to Grosse Pointe MI and had a tv program on CKLW in Windsor, Canada. He showed movies and would talk before, during and after offering information on who was in the movie that day. Some of the movies had him as a bit player. He was kind of a ham but on the likable side. Sometimes he would have guest actors and actresses who he would interview.
Anyone that's never ridden a cutting horse can't know the difference. When riding a cutting horse, you best sit tight in the saddle and be prepared quick changes in direction, or you'll be eating dirt. They are strong fast and beautiful horses, but not be your choice for a casual ride. A good quarter horse trained has a lot of spirt and needs a rider with a lot of spirit.
He who buys insurance on the cheap will end up paying thru the nose first accident when they uninsure you and you have to go to the state fund. But you go ahead. Have at it.
you know watching your kerosene lamps in your intro, always bugs me, the reason the glass smokes up, is because your wick needs trimming, its burning unevenly which creates smoke. another reason is, if the wicks up to high. when i was a kid, we used them regularly, so i know what i'm talking about
Love John Terry bringing us old westerns......Thanks John!
It's Bob Terry you know they're good when you can watch them twice and love it just as much
Bill Elliot's become a favorite. Thank you.
I love this type of classic cinema, thank you cowboy 🤠👌🏻
Man how I wish I could go back to the 50's again, and know then what I know now.
You couldn't tell anyone about it because no one would believe it. 😅

Who doesn't love a good western?
That's one spectacular show. People don't know what we lost.
Because of people like Bob Terry we really haven't lost it it's just harder to find

Louise McAnerin ** Absolutely !

Always good morals along with it. Treating others right and respect go a long way. Manners and honor.
This was a very good "pilot" for a proposed western series featuring "Wild" Bill Elliott.
thank you so much for these Forsaken Westerns series!

LOVE THESE OLDIES HERE
a patriotic western, listen what the Marshall said at the end of the movie, the real America I used to know
Yep, me too!
That America is gone. The "me" generation has taken over and us old timers, the few of us left are the last remaining vestiges of a far better time. And it's not only America, but the entire planet infected with "ME".
Tom Swinburn yes, it is sad that I have to agree with you. Take care - be safe and stay away from crowds.
most certainly was the prime of it's time...thank you!...👍

Man he rode a fine animal......DubTaylor, one of a kind.

WILD BILL ELLIOT was .my father's favorite cowboy.

great show
Thank you!
Remember when
Wild Bill played Red Rider in the 40’s. Red Rider and “Little Beaver”.
Love the dubbed in water sound effects at 26:44!
Sounded like a kid in the bathtub.
Great movie
Great couple of last lines by Wild Bill on this show.
thanks for posting
Love it!
This would have been a great series !!!!
Welcome back. Looking forward to another season.
Thanks
How's Dub related to Rod and Robert Taylor? Two other western movie stars in the 60s.Loved this episode!
Maybe you don't like chicken,
probably the third time I've seen this,
talk about a treasure. Thank you so much.

Used to watch Bill Kennedy all the time. Also did his show on Detroits Channel 50.
We lived in Grosse Pointe, too; 1955-1960.
Welcome back, pardner!
Thanks
Great episode. And so politically incorrect. One-upmanship over a female, teaching a young boy to shoot a rifle. Take me back to 1950! 🤗
But Males as Role Models, even one called a Mother" lol
Anybody wearing their Colts backward like that is asking for some hombre to pull them both out of their holsters.
Wait, what happened at 22:25?
I knew that sounded like dub taylor.
Happy to see this but it was made in color. A color print was on ebay last year. Still hoping to see it in color one day!
How can I view the rest of the series Marshall of Trail City?

Them script writer's sure could pack a ton of action and story in those half hour shows. Try and find the same quality today anywhere.
actually limited a 6 shooter to 6 shots!
He who buys insurance on the cheap will end up paying thru the nose first accident when they uninsure you and you have to go to the state fund. But you go ahead. Have at it.
Goodstuf
that's a cack handed way to holster your gun, if your not using a cross draw
Too bad it wasn't pick-up. Good western

There's a parable in the Bible about keeping your wick trimmed too.😁
🤠
show more
It showed a longbeen face of the law good a crook
Howdy
Have you shot that hog leg hanging back there
Good move but come on. Would that hat trick really work?
I can see why this show was never picked up
Why are the leading cowboys always has dummies for sidekicks???
I don't get it
Didn't he drive a NASCAR.
N
Not as good as his films despite Dub Taylor. But tx.
I'm afraid it's easy to see why no one picked it up.
Oll plg
Like Elliott but this is Bad.
The writing was weak. The acting was weak. Even Wild Bill Elliott couldn't save this one. No wonder the pilot wasn't picked up. But tx for showing it.
Bad script / direction/ and acting no wondetr it was cut from tv
Was dub Taylor a famous sailer
