Have you done any tumblers with handles and have tips? I don't need the image to wrap around the tumbler completely but wondering how to do about it with a handle...if it's even possible
@@MelP-vh2lu ive since got some newer lasers that i use. A lot of the tumblers with the handles, the handle can be removed. You can use a chuck style rotary tool that works better for tumblers with handles.
Good video and thank you and your lovely wife for the video. Good talk thru and demonstration. One small point, the number that goes into the Rotary Axis mm per rotation box. That really seems to be a random number that's obtained by trial 'n error as you show. There MUST be some relation between the roller diameter, and cup diameter. Sure would be nice to have that formula, even if only to get close. Again, thank you. With your video I was able to engrave my first cup.
Thanks Ken. Glad it was helpful for you. I agree with you on that number. Im still learning on these engravers. I mostly do metal works with the cnc plasma cutter. If i find a better formula i will be sure to share it.
thank you for this video. I have the same laser and the rotary I got is the ortur chuck. your video is the only one that was straight to the point and fun to watch. I have my laser elongated using bricks and old hardcover textbooks lol. I have not used lightburn as yet, I use lasergrbl so I will see how it turns out. Will have to search other video that use lasergrbl. thanks a mill
This video is dummy proof!!! Thanks. One question though. I know when engraving on a flat surface, you use the cyndrilical fixture to set your focus. How do you adjust the focus when engraving a tumbler? Use the same fixture? Just curious about that process. Thanks muy mucho!!!
Probably one of the best explanations of setting up a rotary I've seen by far. Excellent Video. Thumbs up. I have a Co2 laser and I'm wading into tumblers this week. I have a 4 wheel rotary attachment. The section on setting up LB was great to see and hear.
Great video and explanation! Also enjoyed the humor 😅 For some reason my thermos keeps creeping forward when the rollers engage. Any idea why and how to stop that? Thanks for the great content!
automatic thumbs up for using keystones for machine feet! When etching I found with 10w lasers 180LPI (lines per inch) to be the sweet spot; balance of resolution and speed. Using the Longer RAY5 10w about 3000 mmMin / 42-60% power works best.Going higher power or higher resolution turns the metal multon and forms beads around text and so forth, granted your not pushing your speed to crazy numbers like 10,000 mm Min.
Micrometer is not a general term. It is a specific measuring tool. That seller is putting related but not accurate terms in it's description to get more search hits. It not only is not a micrometer, it's also not a Vernier caliper. *jumps back into awesome video
Hey did anyone else go cross eyed with that split screen? Lol Also I can't be the only one that had to pause, to see the business card that was strategically placed on keystone girl. Kyle you're smart and crafty guy. Bring on the kioti mods lol Cheers happy new years.
Thx for the video. But my glass keeps sliding off the little wheels that holds it at an angle. And eve try time it rotates, the glass slides. How do I prevent that?
@@SpicerDesignsLLC okay I got it to stop slipping, but now my design is coming out crooked… no matter how many times I change the position on the rotary, it never seems to be straight. Any tips on how to get it to be lined up with the laser?
Was a great video to watch, finally someone getting to the point instead of the usual rambling. anyway, I followed your instruction but had to shut it down for the night, came back to it the next day and lightburn keeps giving me a pop up saying it cannot connect to com 3. When i hit the fire button it gives me a code "error:9 G-code locked out during alarm or jog state." I cannot do anything with the program including putting it back to regular flat burning. I also cannot save the changes you mentioned in lightburn itself. Same thing in Laser GRBL, "access to com 3 is denied" anything you can tell me to help out would be great.
Sorry your having issues with the program. Im not that well versed with lightburn. I think ive seen that error before but i cant remember how i got through it. Sorry i cant help you with that one.
I dont have the chuck. But i can talk to Ortur and see if they will send one out. Were in the process of a big move right now so it might be a bit before i get to it.
Will it also work with Miller Lite cans? Have you done anymore to see if you can speed up the engraving? 80 minutes for one tumbler is a lot, but I get it with this laser. I just ordered a LM2 Pro S2 but if I have an order for 20 that could take a while.
So if I have my machine attached to a work surface with the screw-down brackets in the corners, I would have to remove them every time I want to use the rotary so. I can raise the machine?
I use the "Longer" products and I'm watching your video as I'm playing with my new Longer toy. As I'm playing around with this new rotary to see how it works, I manually move the rollers with a pint glass resting on it and the glass is moving around on the rotary! WHAT in Gods name do I have to do to stop this mayhem!? Do you have a video about keeping your darn material in place!?
The rotary setups are kind of a pain. If the glass is not a perfect cylinder youll have to lift the one end to get it level. Not sure if thats the issue your having.
So I have the an Ortur Rotary as well, but my model looks different. My question is, how do I specify in LightBurn where to start and get it head on without screwing up? lol Cause it always seems to want to start in left-front most corner and I can't get the rotary up that far from where it plugs in at. So can you explain how to tell LightBurn where to actually start the work?
I think i explain that exact thing in this video. I use the center origin and current position. Check that out again. Should explain that part of the setup
@@SpicerDesignsLLC awesome, yeah I haven't watched the video yet, but I will when I get home. Just saw you had the vid and thought I'd ask. Thanks for being so helpful!
That's a pretty cool setup. I assume once you have it setup you could batch produce a number of items? Could be a nice little side hustle for some local businesses/merch. What I really want to see is how powerful that laser is. Put a Keystone can on the roller and let it go until the laser punches a hole in it!
