1:02 it’s worth noting that you should leave yourself some room between your last speed check and the feature to allow yourself to get in a good and stable body position for the take off
Yeh this is a really good tip, usually its how unstable i am that determines how i land good or bad. Im still intermediate so having a good takeoff is a mandatory for a good landing. Ive noticed when i land small rails/tables/jumps that if i dont have good straight stable takeoff then ill either catch a small edge or ill have to brake right away to save myself from getting hurt.
Not sure I agree with the "landing gear" tip when it comes to big airs. Landing unevenly could end up putting too much stress on one leg/knee/hip. If I ever overshoot a jump I try to land evenly and allow both my legs to absorb the energy together. If I can't save it it's more comfortable to fully compress while centered over the board and then try to sit onto my bum/back as gently as I can.
Yeah, agree it's a bit of a bad habit for me to drop the tail. If I go too deep I tend to spin out. I think dropping the tail a tool to have in the toolbelt for roughly landings off features / small jumps without smooth landings. I'm trying to work on the even landing and absorbing with the knees as you mention.
These tips is what i have found out by myself. Im glad you are doing the same things im doing to get better or learn new park stuff. These def will help other snowboarders forsure, these tips def gave me confidence to do park stuff more often which i enjoy the most about snowboarding
I was wondering if you could do a vid on front side 360s, there's lots of videos on it but I can't find one that tells me how to get the last 90 around.
I kinda struggling with positioning the board properly when getting on features like box and rail. Sometimes the board is already off the center of the box/rail at the beginning. Any tips on placing the board at the right position and pointing the right direction when getting on the features? Thanks
I just had a bad wipeout I went for a 3 off the large I have done it many time. Some reason I threw the spin harder than usual and oberoated to 5 and tried to slow down my spin and landed on my back.
I get the impression you're coming in to the jumps at speed with a flat base, and not off an edge. Is that correct? Im always scared I'll catch an edge the moment I'm riding flat and go face first!
Yep! unless you are trying the spin in the air you want to come off from a flat base. If you are new to jumping coming off a feature on an edge with no intention to do any spinning usually means a knarly wipeout. You want to set yourself up with a nice straight flat base so you can land evenly on your board and not catch an edge. Proper set up before the feature is one of the biggest factors in determining if you land it or wipe out.
my man is so calm approaching these features when I'm going full out darth vador getting off a lift lol

yeah kev doesnt do big airs so yeah. Would not recommend to land tail heavy. Stomp it like ur supposed to
It works for Kevin because he knuckles most jumps.

@@eazydp you need even take off for even landing. Jump up vertically, not forward or backwards leaning.
@@bukchoiii Would you recommend landing tail heavy if you're knuckling a jump?

It looks sooo easy when you do it... Gonna try this out :)
great tips! going snowboarding next week, this will really help me out in the park

Agreed! The tip on just going with the feature is solid advice!
Very good tips for beginners/ almost intermediate riders
This video is perfect, thanks for making it! Will try this season
Nice to see the filmed try too!
These are such good tips thank you will definitely try the landing gear thank you!! ❤
Solid tips kev i think im going to put more of an effort in the terrain park this season
yes!
Same
Tucking your knees right as your tail leaves helps a lot with that pop! Also, don't fight the feature is a huge one!
This was super helpful! Thank you so much man!
U gonna be at heavenly or kirkwood next weekend??
Great video!! having trouble understanding the 4th hack though.
When landing with your back foot, are you putting weight on it or are you pushing it down or are you pulling your front foot?

hi bro.. what is your highback #?

sounds like you are going in slightly on an edge. Get comfortable going straight and flat for short periods on the groom.
do you pop both of your knees? or more like 75% pop in the tail and 25% on the nose? Thanks
Thanks for sharing
I wish there was a tip related to weight transfer before during and after the jump.
