Paradise indeed. Thank you for reminding me of the overwhelming joys of sailing now that I cannot sail anymore. This piece and your simple comment tells it more than many many other sea books of films. Thank you very much.
Thanks for the request. Unfortunately Mingming is out of the water and in pieces being prepared for next year's voyage, so not suitable for filming at the moment! I'll see what I can do once she's fully rigged and sailing, but that won't be until June next year.
You know, i am not a sailor and haven't been on a boat, but i understand perfectly what you are saying there. And curiously, if you've had a better camera, i think it wouldnt been the same...These lo-fi images of the ocean are the perfect companion for your wonderfull voice and words. Thank you.
A rare junk rig, and moving well. The junk rig keeps the keel slightly off balance and the keel bites better, reducing the roll. A Bermudian sloop with boom will do it too under mainsail alone.
Roger would you be kind enough to do a small tutoral about sailing the junk a few key points to help me along with mine. Yard haller and its purpose and what to do with it. boom and yard lacing. farrels battons materials hinged? bamboo? sail material? perhaps you could show your controls for your rig? anything you can show is great many thanks johnny
Page 179 so true in this week when our so called leaders are trying to work out a deal at Copenhagen over climate change. Really enjoyed the book, 1st section read thro non stop. Clive.
I would like to convert a sloop rigged nordica 20 to a junk rig. Any books or information you would recommend to calculate sail area, mast size and mast location. Great videos of old and new boat. Fair winds
You do make great video’s. All that wonderful, beautiful nature. So I really hope that you can get a better camera. It is a waste that you don’t have. By the way Then you can sell DVD,s of your travels. I did order your book. "I'm looking forward to it.
Now there is a moment of peaceful reality; in an increasingly surreal world.
Many thanks for posting. I found this video inspirational.
