First of all, I want to thank you for saving this little guy. I have an injured crow (the second one) that I kept secluded in a crate until I knew he was okay. Fed him and took care of him but knew he should be back in the wild. After spring came aroundand the weather was warmer, I released him (as I did with my first one). Unfortunately, unlike my first one who flew away and landed in the trees and began cleaning himself, this one flew and then tried to land on one of the tree branches and fell off the branch. He cannot perch as he has a bad foot. Knew he would not be able to survive on his own. So we scooped him back up and brough him back into his secured cage. We have had him now for five years and he seems pretty content but want to put him in a larger cage but not sure what kind since he cannot perch at all. But he can hop, he just can't perch. What would you suggest. Should he have a large bird cage? Thoughts. Thank you.
What a wonderful video. My 18 year old Quaker had her right wing amputated because of a large cancerous tumor. This was almost eleven months ago, and she is doing so well and continues to inspire me everyday.
Thank you for your love you give to the handicap bird 🐦 . You are a good hearted human. For those that put thumbs down I feel sorry for you guys heartless. Thank you for your beautiful video .
Thank you for this video. My little budgie just recently became paralyzed (we think she had a stroke) and I was so afraid I would not be able to provide her with a good quality of life. You have shown me I can still give her a good life. :)
Thankyou so much, my mynah bird just had to have his foot amputated ,this Is amazing thankyou ,I will set about adapting his cage with these wonderfull ideas of yours
I just found this video, thank you for sharing. My lovebird's legs became paralyzed suddenly without any notable injury, I suspect she ate something that caused her illness. But this video gave me hope that I can keep her and adapt her cage for her needs. Thank you
Thank you for doing ideas. I took in a sparrow from outside with a broken toe and this gave me ideas. I used the caps of a bottle of Tylenol to put the food and water on the bottom of the cage and made a platform....your ladders are great too. Your a great bird parent. ❤
I've got a rock parrot he had an accident got hanged upside down in his cage he damaged his legs I'm looking after him his 8 1/2 months now is absolutely gorgeous I love him so much and I'm so happy to watch someone taking care of a bird who has similar problems with mine but he was never abused💔💙💙
This video was very useful. I’m possibly about to take in a neglected conure who was born with 1 foot. I want to make sure I’m prepared for his situation as much as I can be.
hi... so i just had one of my cockatiels have their leg pulled off... literally... okay so let me explain; they have a very secure cage and we got some new neighbors and they let their dogs loose and they got into our back yard because our fence is being fixed, and they somehow pulled off her leg... luckily no bones were broken and her leg was just pulled off cleanly. i felt super bad for her... my dad found her bleeding on the bottom of the cage and her leg was outside of the cage. i cleaned the wound and i comforted her and i'm so happy that she's fine, it's so fortunate that she's alive. her wound is covered with a large bandaid (the ones that you out on your knee and stuff), and for now she is in the bottom of a cage with her food and water. she flies very well but we keep our birds outside and we bring them inside to spend time with them. is there any recommendations you have for her? i cannot afford vet bills. 💔
I have same experience with my budgie she is 8 years old and suddenly just fell down and stop moving. I didn't sleep for 10 days feed her with syringe and almost died but I didn't give up. Now she is paralyzed with one leg but feeling better. Make for her two balconies to sit and sleep.
Hello, thank you for this video. I have a rescue Western Corella parrot with a club foot. She can't fly and we have spaces for her to climb and a nest box to sleep on. She can perch but her body is leaning more and more to the club foot's side. Is there any sitting area that you can recommend to help her sit more upright? Thanks for loving your birbs so much.
Thank you! Just rescued a Corella hit by a car..Legs are paralysed and injured wing. Vet wants to put him down..Im going to nurse him back to health with this . !!
Thanks for this video - I have adopted a lovebird with deformed legs and this gave me some great ideas of how to modify his cage and play area! Any tips or videos on training since he can’t ‘step up’?
I have a budgie that was born without a foot that came out of the nest today. Shes eating and trying to fly. It's hard for her to perch or climb because she cant grab anything with one foot
I have found a bulbul bird and it can not move its both legs...so it always rests on its left wing....how to know if the legs are broken or paralysed...what to do in this case...there is no vet available...this bird was biten by a dog...please do reply
Hello i need your help i have 2 budgie one of them get internal injury. She hit her head on wall 3 4 time now she is swelled. I dont know what should I do Please help me in this
Hi! I just rescued a baby dove. She has all her feathers already, but still has the beef of a baby. We found it with blood on its feet and it’s wing was hurt. One of its legs is bigger so it can’t stand up...I have no idea what to do....
Where do you live? Try to find a wildlife center, they can take it and treat it. If you don't have any wildlife rescue places in your city, go to a vet clinic, they might be able to help you. The bird needs food-if it can eat by itself give it a wild bird or part of seed mix, if it doesn't eat you have to feed it. I believe you can get a cat or dog canned food, mix it up with warm water and give it to the bird using a syringe. The bird is injured and it needs medical attention as soon as possible.
@@petbirdsquad the bird is ok. I have been taking care of it (there are no wildlife care places here and the local vets don’t know how to take care of birds). I made little band-aids for his feet and they are all better now. His wing is also ok, nothing broken and no blood. Been eating well, I own chickens so I have seeds at home. Been giving him bread and seeds. The only thing still worrying me are it’s legs. I don’t think they are broken. One of it’s legs sticks out and he can’t walk. I think he might’ve dedicated his little leg or even broken it. But if he did, he wouldn’t be able to move his feed, and he can grab things easily and move it. Don’t know if he’s just disabled or if he deslocated it when he fell from the nest! I’ll keep a close eye on him. Doesn’t seem to be in any kind of pain, he eats and drinks normally, he tries to walk and fly all the time (he’s a baby so he hasn’t learned yet)...
I have a question does he scratch himself in the cage because of his disability? Mine keeps doing it and his leg is injured so he can’t do it himself so ig he adapted to it but still makes me worried that it might not be because of it and actually him trying to hurt himself since his partner died a year ago and we are afraid of getting a new one and they don’t tag along and he getting hurt
Yes, Beto sometimes plucks himself. The vet told that it might be because his injured feet hurt, and it is stressing him out. I have to give him pain medicine if he has too much trouble. You think that your bird is injuring himself. It could happen because something is bothering it. Could be stress after the loss of his friend or it could be because of some sickness that bothers it. I recommend you as a first step to take your birdy to a vet. Getting a new friend might be a good idea, although there is a risk of them not getting along. But it they do get along, you will have a happy bird again :)
What can i do for a beautiful parakeet bird, injured in a one of his wing?It has a little wound from pulling fetters with the skin ?Please help me,what to use,it bleed and can't fly. Thank you
Please take your bird to a vet. If it is bleeding-use Styptic powder (you can find it in a pet store) or corn starch to stop the bleeding. Dump a wet piece of cotton in the powder and gently hold against the wound for about one minute. Repeat if the bird is still bleeding. If your parrot is plucking it may be because it is in pain. The wing is hurting..please take the bird to a vet.
@@petbirdsquad thnx . But my parrot was very sick so i consulted a doctor and he gave me some medicine and now my parrot is very better than before. Thnx

Very helpful!
You can just use a big hamster cage with platforms and add bird acessories.
I bought a sun conure when I brought home I saw she has one toe nail missing. Does it affect her function when she grows big or fertility ?
