I learned this during hurricane Helene. I’m in Western NC we went right around 2 weeks without power. Some store opened up without power “cash only obviously” it was interesting walking around the store shopping with flashlights. I learned a lot during those 2 weeks. Definitely take prepping more seriously now.
I always keep about a thousand in cash at home. Last summer a storm came through our area and we lost power for 4 days. All the stores in a twenty mile radius had no power for a few days. I was prepared with everything but I used up about 75 % of my candles and lantern fuel. I was good on food. Local gas stations were down. I keep 15 gallon of gas on hand.
I didnt mentione in it this video but home is a whole sweperate thign and yes I woudl suggest $1000 in cash at home as well when the bank just doesnt have cash at the ATM which happenes around the holidays by me...
I keep about $40 in my wallet just in case I get robbed, but I keep $200-$500 in a small pouch in my cargo pocket (next to my ammo reloads) for reasons like this!
I always carry cash. Sometimes a deal will present itself, and cash is the only option. Not to mention credit cards aren't %100 reliable. I just had to pay cash at Home Depot because their machines were down.
I don't really carry cash on my person unless I'm going to the barbershop, but I always have a few hundred at home. Probably worth having some in my car too. Good shout!
I love using a lantern in the garage in the winter it helps dry out the snowmobiles and warms my garage above freezing. Burns a long time I usually use less than a bottle a year but would be great to have during a power outage as well.
You want smaller bills. I always keep five & ten dollar bills, about $200 worth on me always, and more stashed at home. It's definitely saved me some trouble over the years. Someone might not be able to make change for a Benjamin, and if the item you need is small its a hefty price to pay. A lot of big stores won't sell you anything if their system is down. If you Leave cash, accounting for tax (error on the side of caution, and record yourself doing such) and walk out with what you paid for its not theft, simply against store policy. Also, if you don't already have a car kit emergency bag with essential survival items, you need one.
I've work away in a small country town that had all power cut for a full day. If you didn't have cash or we're known to the locals you went hungry all day. Reliance on technology without thought of its faliure is a mistake. No matter how technologically advanced and reliant we are sometimes it will fail. If you don't have a fall back you'll eventually find out the hard way your expectations of our wonderful technologies were misplaced.
I stash some extra cash in my wallet. I tuck it behind my credit cards and forget about it. I also keep it in large denominations so it's more difficult to spend on non-emergency things.
I’ve been doing this for about 20 years. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone to the grocery store and forgot my wallet. When I use up my Emergency cash I go to the bank and replace it.
Boycott businesses that omly accept card. In my town, Dunkin Donuts doesn't take cash so screw them. Having been a cc fraud victim too many times, i switched to paying primarily w cash. The card skimmer cant skim an unswiped card.
I always carry too much cash on my person, like five to eight hundred, and I know that's too much, really. I have around nine hundred in my safe at home. I don't usually go many places anyhow now that I'm retired though; just the bar three times a week (a neighborhood place two miles away) and maybe to do some shopping during the week one or two days. I use my credit card most of the time while food shopping and cash for incidentals like my three beers at happy hour with my buddies and when I pick up some beer for home. Other than that, yea, cash is king so that's why I like to have plenty on me. As for losing it or possibly getting robbed goes, I totally understand that anything can happen but I'm pretty careful where I go and if I am going somewhere dicy or where I'm not overly familiar, I'll just have maybe two hundred with me, along with my Glock. Luckily, I live in a constitutional carry state.
I've been watching you since I was in the 6th grade lol I'm 26 now. Just felt the need to share. This channel is a goldmine. Thank you for the videos, sir!! 🫡🫡🤘🤘Im in Ohio and tornado season has proven time and time again that oil lamps are a must lol
When I lived in Brooklyn we had a mom and pop hardware store (Garvey's I think) and I bought a percolator coffee pot that must have been sitting there for 40 years, you never know what you'll find in NYC.
Jeff, as you know, I am a Registered Nurse at my local hospital. I once took care of a Billionaire who founded a global pizza company. When I was getting him all settled in, he gave me his money clip/ bank roll. I was like "holy shit Jeff! how much money do you have here? We gotta lock it up with security!". He said, "20 grand". I said, "Jesus, Jeff.. I know you are a wealthy man , but why the hell do you have $20,000 in your pocket at all times?" NO SHIT.... he said, AND I quote.... "I ROLL CASH HEAVY FOR THE MUGGERS.... I would just give them the cash, all I want in my drivers license and my credit card." Dude is worth $40 Billion. the quote... "I roll cash heavy for the muggers" will forever be in my best-ever quote library!!
Before the start of the Ukraine war the news was centralized on the trucker strike in Canada and remember how their government froze the Canadian trucker's digital wallets. Cash is king.
I always suggest cash in a baggie taped to an empty gas can for bigger vehicles if you have rtoom in the trunk, my wife has one in case of an emergency if she broke down somewhere I cant gte tio and her cell has no service or her power bank ran out so she canmt call AAA she cna at least walk to get gas if needed
some people got a dusting some people got a foot, lol...we got about 5" of pure slush and ice they shut down the major highway by us it was VERY bad even though it was the 1st, of course hundreds of schools got off many jobs didnt have employees no one could travel easily
@@cutleryloverwe're just getting good Rain here in California bay area, and most of are small hardware stores closed down year's ago. I used to support them before I would go to the bigger store because they were near by. We do have used appliances store that sale salvaged house stuff if your looking for a slightly used door, window or anything that came out of a home before tearing it down. It's kinda fun to look around in there to see old used stuff. Some of that stuff cost more than New only because they don't make old USA stuff anymore. There's a store in Emeryville called "Urban Or" that's a huge wearhouse that sales used house hold stuff anything from cabinets to old claw foot bathtubs to used bikes and everything in-between
@cutlerylover dude if you dont regularly carry 100 cash atleast you are doing it wrong. Better late then never like I always say about this channel. Wanna know a even better place for that cash? In your phone, (if you have case) between the phone back and the case i stash cash i keep it to 100s . Then you always got it. If i lose my phone I got bigger problems.

Cash is freedom!
Don’t carry too much cash. Cops can and will seize your cash under civil asset forfeiture.

If I kept $100 in my car I would just be $100 poorer because I would forget about it 100% every time I thought I need it
haha even better when you eventually find it lol

What lamps do you guys have?
You never know when you need a bag on the road.
I seldom carry cash, but i,ll keep it in mind to carry some .
I dint keep cash cause of ppl wanting to bum or ask for loans. Can't forget the one guy at gas station asking for a handout
remember this is a secret hidden in the vehicle somewhere, no one knows about it
I do this but i also keep cash in my fishing bags.
Great video
I always have 100€ on me. And some cash at home. Just in case.
It's 2024, carbs are no longer counted as essentials.😅(hides under desk)
I always keep some spare carbs in the car just in case hahahaha
I keep $100 in $20 bills inside my phone case

I put enough cash to get a tank of gas in my truck. Fill up half a tank have enough tk get home if you forget your wallet

I definitely don't keep much money in the car, home is a different story.
I always have cash at home like a petty cash box of sorts but the vehicle is a good extention for the exact same reasons
500 in fives😂
Jesus is the King.
It's all fun and games until your debit card is empty or locked and the airport doesn't take cash (in effing 2024 mind you)
