      @@slaplist8377 specific animation? Hardly. They took generic animations and added some sort of timer for the Mega Kick effect. Some of these kicks are hilarious, like how Wigglytuff is just jumping and hitting the ground somehow equals a Mega Kick.

    Kabutops alone shows the effort that was put into the animations in this game. I never knew how many Pokemon got kicking animations until now. Hypno does a friggin spinning back kick like it's Hitmonlee and Snorlax does a dropkick for crying out loud.

      No developer nowadays would put that level of detail in a new pokemon stadium game. As of generation 7 and with pokebank and virtual console players may sometimes be able to have a Snorlax with mega kick or not depending on its game of origin and that would happen with all of the 700+ existing pokemon and the 700+ moves. No developer would undergo that challenge. Pokemon stadium will always hold a place in the hall of fame of nintendo games.

      I mean... you're not wrong, but dealing with 151 Pokémon vs. dealing with 700+ of them. I will say they could definitely give each Pokémon a few different animations for physical/special, absolutely. It's not the same as what Stadium/Colo/XD/BattleRev had but it would be a start.

    • @ChaosSolak
      @ChaosSolak 5 лет назад +79

      @@Ampharosite That's the thing. This is NOT about doing 800+ pokémon all at once. It's a gradual work. The first 400 or something were done, upgrade them and tadaa! It's done for half of them! Now to animate the other half. Once that's done, they'd only have 100-ish to animate every new gen. SwiSh's been in dev since 2016 at least! Well enough time to animate all of them. And if not? HIRE MORE PEOPLE!! They have the money for that!

      It doesn't matter. They could make the game heavier or delay the release date and make the animations better.

    • @iss2075
      @iss2075 6 лет назад +47

      UrgotHasCancer, they don't have to animate every attack in the game. In the Stadium games each Pokemon has about a dozen animations (stuff like Ditto, Caterpie, Kakuna, etc. seem to only have about 3), and then they program each attack to each animation. So, for example, a lot of the Mega Kick animations you see here might also be used for Double Kick, (Hi) Jump Kick, Rolling Kick, Low Kick, maybe even moves like Counter or Stomp if the game designers think they fit. They don't make an individual animation for each move. Aerodactyl, for example, uses the same animation for both Wing Attack and Earthquake. Kangaskhan uses the same animation for both Surf and Thunder, Gastly uses the same animation for Lick, Psychic, Mega Drain, Thunderbolt, Self-Destruct and Confuse Ray iirc. Also, some of the moves don't even have animations, like some Pokemon when using stuff like Bind, Fly (charing turn), Hypnosis, Psychic, Sing, Night Shade, etc, just use their idle animations if they game designers think it fits.
      So it's not that difficult. It would be a challenge, sure, but it could be done. They just need to make even just 10 animations for each Pokemon, then it would be like "Projectile moves use animation 1, kicking moves use animation 2, punching moves use animation 3, running moves use animation 4, biting moves use animation 5, stat increase moves use animation 6", and so on (I'm over-simplifying it, in reality they did it individually for each Pokemon, so yeah, they might have to employ someone to spend a week deciding what animation goes best with each move on each Pokemon, but who cares, they spend months making these games and they have lots of money).
      I actually think it would probably be EASIER to do now! The improvements in technology over the past 20 years probably more than makes up for the increase in Pokemon and moves.

    I get animating moves can be hard and not that important, but it would be nice to see Pokemon actually having special animations for punch, kick, fang, tail and slash moves, as well as sound, bullet or psychic moves on the special side, and maybe even dance and protect animations. Seeing a Pokemon running to attack the foe and not just do the animation in the same spot is also a nice detail we've only had in very few games. Again, I know it's really hard to pull all of them for every Pokemon, but it would definitively be a really appreciated detail.

    Notice how, even if a pokemon did not have a specific animation for the kick, they at least showed the special effect at a time appropriate for the animation they had- rather than just bouncing in place. Besides that, it's crazy how they went out of their way to show pokemon ACTUALLY USING THEIR LIMBS to coincide with the attack name. Nowadays, you have Scorbunny using his feet to Fire Punch, Wooloo headbutting with it's legs... ridiculous

      I dont think anyone knows what the deal with Jynx is at this point. In at least one Stadium game, knocking Jynx out resulted in her body disappearing into her hair, which then fell to the ground. As if its body is just a mass of darkness emitted from its hair. The anime has shown it with feet before. And its 3d model now has it with spikes coming out of its dress for some reason.
      What even is Jynx?

    And to think GameFreak said they're limiting the Pokémon in Galar because of "balancing" and wanting to provide more "fluid" animations when Scorbunny's double kick was just sad compared to this.

      I know right? Pokemon is literally the highest grossing media franchise. They can EASILY afford better animations, or at least meet the bare-minimum requirement of having all the Pokemon in the game. It's ridiculous.

    Game Freak really need to hire more staff. They can't pretend they're a little indie company; not with such a huge franchise. You want quality and frequent releases? You need more people and it will obviously reduce pressure on the existing staff too. There's no question about it.

    • @takkoy8658
      @takkoy8658 5 лет назад +1

      Meh. Still not a good excuse.
      Pokémon Battle Revolution had 493 Pokémon and every single one had individual animations.
      And remember that Sword & Shield will cut the Pokédex in half.
      Gallade, using Close Combat, would run into his target and give it a violent punch.
      He doesn't hops in place while drawn humanoid feet and hands appear on the target.
      Blaziken using Double Kick would run at its target and kick it twice. Not hop in its place while a humanoid foot strikes the target.
      And Battle Revolution is a Nintendo Wii game.
